Chapter 264: Purifying Magic Eye
After resolving the issue with the eyes, Lan Qingyou and Susi set off.
Sitting idly on her Magic Broom, Lan Qingyou finally had a moment to spare to greet the people waiting in the group chat.
In truth, while she had been busy dealing with matters earlier, the group chat had already exploded into an uproar.
The topic of discussion, of course, was the Teleportation Array.
Although not everyone in the group had a financial stake in it, nearly half of the members had been present at the time.
With such a major incident breaking out, the chat was bound to be buzzing.
Justice: "Has she been gone a while?"
The Pope: "Not too long, all things considered."
The Magician: "I wonder how things are going on The Tower's end."
The Sun: "Let's just wait a bit longer. With The Tower's skills, it's not like the tables would get turned on her."
The Star: "I'd actually love to see how someone with as many tricks as The Tower could possibly get taken down."
The Tower: "It's already over, and no, I didn't get taken down."
Just as everyone was debating why she had yet to show up, Lan Qingyou's message instantly washed away the anxious atmosphere in the chat.
Justice: "She's here!"
The Moon: "How did it go?"
Judgement: "Is everything handled?"
The Tower: "Pretty much. Our earlier theories were spot on—the Teleportation Array has almost certainly been leaked."
Judgement: "What's the exact situation?"
The Tower: "Nothing much. While I was heading to the Golden Plains to cause some trouble, I happened to run into my enemies meeting with a group of suspicious people. The local president of the Adventurer's Guild confirmed that those individuals did not come through the guild's Teleportation Array."
The Magician: "The president of the Adventurer's Guild?"
The Tower: "She's a Witch from the Golden Plains. She's right beside me, and we're heading to the Teleportation Array's hiding spot together. Once we find it and examine the arrangement of the Runes, we'll know for sure if it's from the batch you created."
After all, everyone had their own unique habits when drafting.
This wasn't limited just to magic arrays.
Circuits, textures, commands, symbols, Enchanting, and so on—all of them followed the same principle.
For instance, The Magician's drafting was rigid and precise, The Star's style was more freeform and expressive, while Lan Qingyou herself liked to add a small hook at the very last stroke.
Judgement: "We'll leave the trouble to you, then."
The Tower: "No trouble at all. We've arrived. Wait a moment, everyone."
With that said, Lan Qingyou vanished from the chat, leaving the rest of the group staring at their screens, bursting with unasked questions.
...
"Are we going to smash it with a Stone like before?"
Susi asked Lan Qingyou once they arrived in the airspace above the hidden Shelter.
After all, the Teleportation Array they needed as evidence was down below. If they just smashed straight into it, they would likely destroy the array on the spot.
However, knowing the exact material composition of the Teleportation Array, Lan Qingyou was entirely unconcerned.
Nodding silently, she dropped a six-ton Stone straight down. Having learned her lesson from last time, she instantly bolted after dropping it, completely avoiding the ensuing plume of dust.
Boom!
Following the deafening crash, the area settled back into an eerie calm.
"Oh my, things don't look too good down there,"
Lan Qingyou muttered from high above as she noticed something unusual drifting up from the billowing dust.
"What doesn't look good?"
"There's toxic gas—and it's the kind that can make a person instantly rot away. It must be a failsafe they put in place in case this location was ever breached."
"Oh, just toxic gas. Here I thought it was something actually bad."
Susi raised an eyebrow, entirely unfazed by Lan Qingyou's warning.
"From the sound of it, you have a solution."
Susi's relaxed and effortless reply made Lan Qingyou realize that this person might actually have some impressive tricks up her sleeve.
"Haha, just lower the altitude and watch."
With a grin, Susi activated her Magic Eye.
Soon after, Lan Qingyou watched as the poisonous fumes mingled within the dust cloud gradually diminished, eventually vanishing completely.
The entire process took less than a minute.
"Clan Head, you don't seem curious at all,"
Susi asked with a hint of intrigue, looking at the completely unfazed Lan Qingyou after the toxic gas below had been cleared.
"There's no need to be curious. Besides, as the Clan Head of the Witch Clan, no one understands better than I do just how vital a Magic Eye is as a Witch's trump card,"
Lan Qingyou replied calmly.
For a Witch, her Magic Eye was indeed her greatest hidden ace. Therefore, even though she was the Clan Head, Lan Qingyou wouldn't casually pry into the specifics of another's ability.
Though, to be fair, between Susi's little display just now and the power of her own Magic Eye, Lan Qingyou already knew exactly what Susi's Magic Eye was.
It all came back to the same rule: Witches under her lineage could not harm her.
So even if Susi possessed some incredible offensive Magic Eye, she still wouldn't be the least bit curious.
"Fair enough. To be honest, this support-type Magic Eye of mine that can purify toxins isn't exactly anything amazing anyway,"
Susi remarked, a faint trace of regret slipping into her tone.
However, Lan Qingyou, the possessor of the Analysis Magic Eye, strongly disagreed.
"Your Magic Eye is far more powerful than you think."
"It's true that the Purifying Magic Eye possesses purification abilities, but aside from toxins, it can also cleanse madness, demonic energy, and the like. If anything, it's incredibly rare that a person who studies poisons like you would awaken a Magic Eye with the exact opposite attribute."
"So you can actually see my attributes,"
Susi murmured, realization dawning on her as Lan Qingyou read her like an open book.
Lan Qingyou saw no reason to hide it.
"Yeah, it's just a Magic Eye similar to an appraisal skill."
Lan Qingyou nodded, offering a deliberately vague description of her Magic Eye. Then, without giving Susi a chance to reply, she dove downward to begin her search for the Teleportation Array.
"Given how thoroughly it was smashed, the Teleportation Array is probably completely scrapped, right?"
Realizing that Lan Qingyou was dodging the question, Susi tactfully dropped the topic of the Magic Eye and instead shifted her attention to critiquing the massive crater created by the impact.
In her view, absolutely nothing could have survived an impact of that magnitude.
Lan Qingyou remained silent, fully focused on searching.
About two minutes later, Susi watched as Lan Qingyou yanked a square iron plate roughly two meters wide out from the rubble.
And right there on the iron plate was the very Teleportation Array she was so familiar with.
"Hmm. Although it definitely looks like a Teleportation Array, there are slight differences from the ones The Magician draws."
With just a cursory glance at the magic array on the steel plate, Lan Qingyou could tell that this Teleportation Array was not the work of The Magician.
"The Magician?"
"That would be the head of your Adventurer's Guild."
"Oh, right, that's a title from that Tarot Manor place, isn't it?"
"Correct."
Replying briefly, Lan Qingyou pulled out a Card. Susi took one look at it and was taken aback. Compared to their mass-produced Cards, the one in Lan Qingyou's hand boasted remarkably exquisite craftsmanship.
However, remembering that the other party was an inner member of Tarot Manor and an early beta tester for the Cards, she quickly understood.
After all, she had heard that the current Identity Cards were all derived from the "Tarot Card" concept originally written in Lan Qingyou's book.
