Chapter 270: Witches Are Invincible!
After all, they were only able to become witches because the Supreme Council had given them the Witch's Potion. It was essentially a form of loan that had to be repaid.
Even if they resigned from their positions at the Adventurer's Guild now, they would still need to brew those potions every day to pay off their debt.
So, strictly speaking, the vast majority of this first batch of witches were actually quite poor.
But things were different now.
Now that they had aligned themselves with a powerhouse like Lan Qingyou, who was also their Clan Head, she surely had an abundance of materials, right?
"That is true. Speaking of which, take out your identity cards. I will pull you into the group chat first."
"Group chat?"
A petite witch wearing a flower wreath on her head, who had been sitting quietly on the desk all this time, turned her head and looked at Susi in confusion.
"Yeah, it is a chat channel established by the Clan Head for witches to communicate with one another."
"There are only five people."
"Witch's Tea Party. It is quite a nice name. Very classy."
Once the three women were pulled into the group, they all began to casually chatter and comment.
"Should we contact the Clan Head right now?"
Diana, who had immediately changed her group name to [Knowledge Witch] upon entering, asked Susi. After all, she was considered the leader of their four-person squad.
"Not right now. It seems the Clan Head has run into some matters that need to be dealt with."
"I see. That does not matter, then. It wouldn't hurt to just send a message in the group and wait for a reply. Besides, the whole point of this group is to provide a communication platform for witches, isn't it?"
After glancing at the group announcements, Diana asked again.
This time, Susi nodded and agreed to her proposal.
And so, Diana sent a message expressing her desire to craft magic scrolls.
"Oh right, and there is these. One for each of you."
After Diana finished sending her message, Susi took out three items and tossed them to the three women.
"What are these?"
The three women caught the items, looking bewildered.
"Contract magic circles. They are items that allow you to sign a contract with a juvenile monster, turning it into a familiar that shares a telepathic bond with you."
"A familiar? That sounds quite interesting."
The tall, mature witch standing behind the sofa was the first to unfurl the rolled-up magic circle to inspect it, an eager expression written all over her face.
"Can we contract any kind of monster?"
"From what the Clan Head said, yes, but they have to be in their juvenile stage."
"Does that mean we could even sign a contract if we found a baby dragon?"
"Theoretically, yes."
"Good heavens."
Diana exclaimed in surprise.
"Did the Clan Head make these as well?"
The petite witch asked.
"Yes, and she also told us to study magic circles as much as possible, saying that alchemy arrays are just another type of magic circle."
"Look! See, I told you magic circles were definitely useful! Otherwise, those grand lords of the Supreme Council would never have wasted resources letting us study them."
The witch behind the sofa was overjoyed.
When someone had first delivered a book on magic circles for everyone to pass around, the others had tossed it to her with disdain.
While the others did not think much of it, she felt that magic circles paired perfectly with witches and looked incredibly cool, so she had studied them diligently.
Now, she was finally able to hold her head high and feel completely vindicated.
"Hey, this feels pretty nice. The way this monster skin was treated... it seems like it would be great for making scrolls too."
Unlike the witch behind her, the witch sitting on the sofa was much more interested in the monster skin used to draw the magic circle.
In her eyes, a contract magic circle or a telepathically linked familiar were nowhere near as important as the materials themselves.
Since this monster skin could be used by the Origin Witch to draw a magic circle, using it to record magic spells should not be a problem either.
Even if it was only single-use.
"Then just ask the Clan Head where she gets this kind of monster skin."
Susi said nonchalantly.
Since she had already sent a message earlier anyway, sending another would not hurt.
"Hmm, let me see... Huh! Look at the group chat, quick!"
Diana picked up her card, preparing to send a message in the group, but the moment she opened it, she witnessed a miraculous sight.
[Tower Witch has deposited 'Sky-Piercing Blade' into the group storage.]
[Tower Witch has deposited 'Deep Blue Collar' into the group storage.]
[Tower Witch has deposited 'Serrated Knife' into the group storage.]
[Tower Witch has deposited 'Horn Ring' into the group storage.]
[Tower Witch has...]
"Goodness, they are all magic items?!"
"Is the Clan Head really this wealthy?"
"Did the Clan Head prepare all of these for us?"
"They must be for us to use while leveling up."
"Tsk, tsk, look at all these magic items. You have to hand it to the Clan Head! She is a wealthy lady! An absolute tycoon!"
"Witches are invincible!"
"We! Pledge! Our! Loyalty!"
Upon seeing the items Lan Qingyou had placed into the storage, the four people present were all filled with exhilaration.
After all, Lan Qingyou also knew about their desire to resign and go level up.
Taking these items out now was clearly to help them level up.
"I checked, and we can use them freely, but we need to register them. Furthermore, once we obtain drops from the dungeons, we are required to return these borrowed magic items."
As an administrator, Susi reviewed the new rules established by Lan Qingyou and nodded in approval.
Indeed, doing this would greatly accelerate the growth of the witches in their clan.
However, to prevent any shameless individuals from taking advantage of the system, Lan Qingyou had still inscribed a destruction magic circle on them.
Everything borrowed from the storage needed to be returned at least once every three days.
Otherwise, they would detonate directly, destroying the item while simultaneously dealing a potentially lethal blow to the shameless thief.
It sounded incredibly intimidating, but in reality, it was just a miniature energy-absorbing magic circle.
It would fully charge in three days and then explode.
Only by placing it back into the storage to isolate it could it cool down and be used again.
Although Susi did not understand the underlying principles, she felt it was an absolutely indispensable measure.
However, there were only a little over two hundred items in the storage.
Compared to the population of over ten thousand witches, it was still far too few.
"As long as we get drops from the dungeons, we can also throw the ones we do not need into the group storage for others to use."
After reading the dungeon guide that Lan Qingyou had uploaded to the group files, Susi offered her suggestion to the three women.
This dungeon guide did not contain information about combat, but rather methods for identifying magic items, treasures, and similar loot. It was exceptionally practical.
The three women subsequently expressed their unanimous agreement.
After all, while they were enjoying these conveniences, they also needed to give back. Equivalent Exchange was the fundamental law of Alchemy.
"That is very true. However, I reckon I will not be able to replicate this self-destructing magic circle for the time being."
The tall, mature witch standing behind the sofa furrowed her brows as she examined the destruction magic circle on a magic item they had withdrawn from the storage, seemingly deep in study.
