Chapter 118: Is That All?

~4 min read 774 words

The sunlight of Luocheng seemed never to tire, but for the hidden currents beneath the city's glittering surface, day and night made no difference. Qin Feng's investigation into the Prometheus Foundation had hit a dead end; the organization was like an iceberg submerged in the Deep Sea, revealing only its tip, while its true scale and purpose remained a mystery.

Yet, the other side did not intend to remain silent indefinitely.

That afternoon, Qin Feng was reviewing the North America division's market expansion plan in his hotel suite when the doorbell rang. Lei Zhan whispered through the internal comms: "Director Qin, the front desk downstairs passed along a 'private Gift' for you—no signature. Should we inspect it?"

"Private Gift?" Qin Feng's brow lifted slightly. He had few personal connections in Luocheng—who would send him a Gift? And why through the hotel front desk, such an informal channel?

"Bring it in. Inspect it carefully."

Moments later, Lei Zhan entered carrying a neatly wrapped Gift box, about the size of a shoebox. In front of Qin Feng, he scanned it with professional equipment, confirmed the absence of explosives, biochemical hazards, or electronic tracking devices, then carefully unwrapped it.

Inside the box, there was no letter, no card—only one item—

A fragment of a severely damaged, dried and blackened bloodstained… red leather jacket.

It was the very one Rose had worn often!

Qin Feng's pupils contracted sharply; his aura instantly turned icy and piercing—the room's temperature seemed to drop several degrees!

This was a show of force! A warning! They not only knew of Rose's connection to him, but were openly declaring: Rose was in their hands—or worse, they could strike at her again at any moment! The success of the last rescue in the Mediterranean had not deterred them; it had only stoked fiercer hostility!

Lei Zhan's face darkened instantly, his fists clenched, veins bulging. This was a direct, blatant provocation against the Shield, against Qin Feng!

"Find out! Source of the Gift box, everyone who handled it, hotel surveillance!" Qin Feng's voice was like ice frozen for ten thousand years, each word laced with lethal intent.

"Yes!" Lei Zhan turned and left immediately to arrange it.

Qin Feng walked to the window, gazing down at Luocheng's bustling streets, his eyes deep as a still pool. He picked up the internal phone and dialed the encrypted line to Shadow.

"They've moved," Qin Feng said calmly, though anyone who knew him understood this calm concealed a terrifying storm: "The Prometheus Foundation—or forces tied to them. They're in Luocheng."

"Understood! I'll immediately shift our focus and concentrate all resources on screening every possible outpost and contact linked to the Foundation in Luocheng!" Shadow responded instantly.

After hanging up, Qin Feng stared at the bloodstained leather fragment, and slowly, a cold, mocking smile curled at his lips.

A Gift box?

Such crude, beneath-notice intimidation tactics seemed to him as childish and laughable as a child's prank.

Did they think this would throw him into panic? Make him hesitate?

How naive.

If they believed Qin Feng was the kind of man who could be frightened by such petty tricks, they had vastly underestimated him.

This level of provocation would not make him retreat—it only hardened his resolve to uproot this hidden organization entirely.

He picked up the leather fragment, his fingertips feeling the rough fabric and hardened blood clots, his gaze sharpening further.

"Is that all?"

He murmured to himself, his disdain unmistakable.

Want to play?

Then I'll play you to the end.

Let's see who breaks first.

He casually tossed the rag into the nearby trash bin, as if discarding genuine garbage.

Fear? Unease?

Nonexistent.

What existed was only the annihilating rage about to descend upon ants who dared to provoke him.

He pressed the comm button and gave instructions to Lei Zhan, who had just returned:

"Cancel the dinner scheduled for tomorrow night with the local chamber of commerce representatives."

"Also, send another invitation on my behalf to the CEO of Chuangsheng Technology—tonight, at the hotel's rooftop restaurant."

Lei Zhan paused: "Director Qin, meeting Chuangsheng Technology now?"

Qin Feng turned, his face back to its usual depth and calm, but the cold glint in his eyes grew even more chilling:

"Some people have stepped forward. It's time to see… whether they're even worthy to be my opponents."

"Besides, I need a stage substantial enough for the rats hiding in the shadows to see clearly…"

"Exactly who they've provoked."

The rooftop restaurant tonight would not be peaceful.

A war without smoke would quietly begin amid clinking glasses and laughter.

And Qin Feng was already prepared to crush every opponent.
