Chapter 352: We Have No Sense of Time

~6 min read 1,057 words

The dark gold "Lizardmen"'s desperate cry—"Please, Divine Envoy… the Ark… home…"—was like a spark dropped into boiling oil, utterly igniting the fury of the Guixu Will. It no longer satisfied itself with spiritual oppression; a more violent storm of energy brewed deep within the ruins, countless dark red energy tentacles emerging like a swarm of snakes from shattered spatial folds, blotting out the sky as they coiled toward Xia Wan!

At the same time, the dark gold "Lizardmen," utterly stripped of self and reduced to a puppet, along with all other controlled beings of the same kind, surged toward Xia Wan in a suicidal tide!

Trapped between internal and external threats, death lurked everywhere!

"Miss Xia Wan! Retreat to the Mother Ship immediately!" the captain bellowed over the comms. The shield quivered violently under the energy storm's assault, energy readings plummeting.

"Blade Squad, provide covering fire! Extract the Guardian at all costs!"

Energy beams and explosions wove a net of fire around Xia Wan, attempting to block the "Lizardmen"'s advance, but against their overwhelming numbers and frenzied suicide charges, the effect was limited.

Xia Wan hovered in place, facing the overwhelming assault, her gaze unnervingly calm. She did not choose to retreat immediately, for the Guixu Will had already locked onto her—any hasty withdrawal would only draw the fire toward the Mother Ship.

Guardian Power surged through her body, the pale golden patterns on her silver armor blazing brightly. She formed a seal before her chest, and a denser, larger pale golden Guardian shield erupted outward from her center!

The shield collided violently with the rolling energy storm and the dark red tentacles, producing a grating, teeth-on-edge tearing sound! The shield's surface rippled fiercely but stubbornly held firm against this terrifying assault!

Those "Lizardmen" who charged forward, upon striking the shield, slammed into an invisible wall—their bodies crackled with a "sizzling" sound as the Guardian Power purified them, scales blackened and peeled off, movements slowed, and some weaker individuals shrieked before dissolving directly into ash!

But their numbers were simply too great, pressing forward relentlessly, and the shield's energy was being drained rapidly.

"This won't work!" Xia Wan's mind raced. She had to break the stalemate—either crush this Will entirely or find a way out.

She attempted to extend her perception once more toward the core of the Guixu Will, seeking its weakness. Yet that Will was like a chaotic vortex, composed of countless fragmented thoughts and violent energy—there was no fixed core, or rather, the entire Guixu ruin was its core!

Just as she felt stymied, a lazy voice, transmitted through her armor's external receiver, sounded directly in her ear:

"Little Guardian, why bother fighting a mess of 'Garbage Data'?"

"It wants time? Give it time."

It was Mo Yu!

On the bridge of the Mother Ship, Mo Yu had somehow appeared by the viewport, still lounging as ever, even holding a cup of… juice? He raised the cup toward Xia Wan's direction, wearing his signature mocking smile.

Then he casually picked up Xiao Bao, who was gnawing on a Tooth Stick resting on his shoulder, and held him toward the Seven-Colored Dice in Xiao Bao's arms, blowing gently on it.

"Son, help the sister out—make that noisy 'Garbage'… shut up for a bit."

Xiao Bao seemed to understand. He hugged the Dice, slapping its surface with his chubby hands, babbling nonsense syllables no one could comprehend.

The Seven-Colored Dice suddenly erupted in unprecedented brilliant light! The light was not an attack—it transformed into countless fine, twisted threads resembling probability lines capable of altering reality's rules, silently permeating the surrounding space, merging into the violent energy storm, and sinking into the Guixu Will's chaotic stream of thoughts.

The next instant, something bizarre occurred.

The once-ferocious energy storm suddenly slowed to… excruciatingly sluggish speeds—as if paused on slow motion—the dark red energy tentacles writhed like they moved through thick glue, taking ages to advance even a fraction.

The frenzied "Lizardmen" also froze into extreme sluggishness, as if trapped in a time-quagmire—every claw-lift, every roar, became slow motion.

Even the vast Guixu Will's chaotic thoughts now sounded like a broken phonograph, fragmented and full of static:

"... submit... @#¥%... nourishment... &*()... end..."

Across the entire battlefield, except for the Hope and the small zone around Xia Wan, the flow of time had been forcibly twisted and stretched!

No—not just time! Xia Wan could feel the probability threads were disturbing something deeper: "causality" and "possibility"! It wasn't merely slowing time—it had forcibly reduced the probability of all "actions" and "changes" within this zone to an extremely low level!

"This… this is…" Everyone on the bridge stared, dumbfounded, at this incomprehensible spectacle.

Mo Yu took a sip of juice, nodded in satisfaction, and explained into the comms (or rather, directly toward Xia Wan):

"Don't be surprised. Just a little trick."

"We beings like us have no sense of time."

"Faster or slower—it's just a matter of probability."

His tone was casual, as if he'd merely done something trivial.

"Hurry up, Little Guardian," Mo Yu reminded her. "This 'Probability Lag' won't last long. That pile of 'Garbage Data' is too massive—it'll adapt and overwhelm it soon."

Xia Wan snapped back to awareness! This was the perfect opportunity Mo Yu and Xiao Bao had created for her!

She retracted the Guardian shield, condensing it onto her body. Her energy wings flared violently, and she shot forward like a pale golden streak—not toward the Mother Ship, but… along the edge of the slowed energy storm, moving with impossible speed and agility straight toward the entrance of Guixu!

She intended to enter Guixu now, while she could!

The external threats had been temporarily "frozen" by Mo Yu; the internal "Lizardmen" were sluggish. If not now, when?

"Miss Xia Wan! You—" the captain gasped in shock at her counter-charge.

"Stick to the plan—Mother Ship, provide outer support! Blade Squad, follow me inside!" Xia Wan's voice came over the comms, calm and resolute.

Her figure darted like a fish against the current, weaving through the thickened, sluggish chaos, rapidly approaching the dark, shattered entrance.

Mo Yu watched her back, a smile curling at his lips as he murmured: "That's more like it… how can you be the Chosen One if you hide behind others?"

He swirled his cup, the juice inside rippling.

"Now let's see… what 'surprises' lie deep within Guixu."
