Chapter 68

~6 min read 1,071 words

The Spiritual Impact from the Curse Key had not yet fully subsided; the faint, lingering curse energy, like a stubborn bone-deep poison, began subtly influencing Qin Feng's surroundings in some mysterious way. Though his will was as unshakable as a rock and he scorned such vague notions as "luck," a series of irritating minor mishaps indeed followed one after another.

On the way back from the research Base to the main estate, lights flickered, birds were startled, his customized communicator suddenly experienced brief signal interruptions, and even the coffee Su Wenqian brought him was several degrees hotter than usual. These subtle anomalies might go unnoticed by ordinary people, but occurring around Qin Feng—especially after his recent intense Spiritual Impact— they were glaringly unnatural.

Qin Feng dealt with these trivial matters without expression, gaining a more direct understanding of the system's claim of "luck value decline." He did not panic, but felt an even greater urgency to absorb Star Marrow as soon as possible, complete the optimization, and upgrade the system to eradicate this annoying negative influence entirely.

He needed an absolutely quiet, undisturbed environment to absorb Star Marrow. Though the estate was large, daily activities were inevitable. Thus, he decided to go to a secret safety house located at Xishan—more concealed, with sufficient defenses to handle any unexpected threat.

"Prepare the car. To Xishan." Qin Feng instructed Su Wenqian.

"Yes, sir." Su Wenqian immediately arranged it.

Soon, a specially modified black luxury sedan—capable of withstanding rocket attacks—drove out of the estate. Qin Feng sat in the back seat, eyes closed, adjusting his state with every second to prepare for absorbing Star Marrow. The driver was an experienced, highly skilled bodyguard; a second guard sat in the front passenger seat.

The car smoothly left the city and turned onto the winding mountain road leading to Xishan. This road normally had little traffic and a tranquil environment.

Yet, just as the car passed a bend with slightly obstructed visibility—

Sudden change!

A large garbage truck, previously traveling normally in the opposite lane, suddenly lost control! The driver appeared to have violently missteered; the massive vehicle, like a runaway steed, crashed through the central barrier with a thunderous roar, barreling toward Qin Feng's sedan with crushing force!

All of this happened too fast, too suddenly! It defied all logic! Even the garbage truck driver's face bore a look of confusion and terror—as if he himself did not know what had happened!

"Watch out!" The guard in the front passenger seat's pupils shrank sharply as he shouted a warning.

The driver-bodyguard reacted instantly, instinctively jerking the steering wheel hard while slamming the accelerator to the floor, attempting to accelerate away from the deadly collision! The specially modified sedan performed superbly, instantly unleashing powerful acceleration.

But the distance was too short! The garbage truck was too large, moving too fast!

Boom!!!

A deafening roar shattered the mountain's stillness!

The black sedan ultimately could not fully evade it; its rear end was slammed hard by the garbage truck's front. The immense impact instantly flipped the sedan, sending it tumbling twice through the air before crashing violently against the roadside guardrail, producing a series of grating, metallic screeches. The sturdy guardrail bent and warped; the car body was severely damaged, glass shards and parts scattered everywhere.

The offending garbage truck also overturned, sliding a distance before coming to a stop, kicking up clouds of dust.

The scene fell into deathly silence, broken only by the occasional "crackling" from the wreckage.

In the distance, faint, panicked honking from other vehicles could be heard.

Inside the sedan, all airbags deployed. The driver and guard in the front row were severely injured in the impact, unconscious and their fates unknown.

In the back seat, Qin Feng, at the moment of impact, maintained extreme clarity thanks to his formidable physical condition and spiritual power. As the car rolled, his muscles tensed, skillfully dissipating part of the force while using his arms to shield vital areas.

But when the vehicle finally slammed into the ground, the massive Vibration and compression still sent his Qi and Blood churning; his left arm throbbed with sharp pain—likely fractured. His temple was sliced open by a shard of debris, warm blood streaming down, blurring one side of his vision.

He kicked hard against the slightly deformed door, struggling out from the wreckage.

Standing beside the twisted vehicle, staring at the horrific accident scene, Qin Feng wiped blood from his temple, his gaze as cold as Siberian wind.

He raised his intact right hand, staring at a strange, dark aura now clinging to the back of his hand—seemingly writhing on its own, attempting to burrow into his skin, bringing a chilling, bone-deep sensation.

"Curse…" Qin Feng muttered softly, voice hoarse and brimming with murderous intent.

This was no mere accident.

"Luck value decline"? No—this was more like some malevolent force deliberately guiding this "accident!"

Was this a follow-up move from the Abyss? Or had the Ye Family, desperate and cornered, found some bizarre method? Or perhaps… the power within the Curse Key was far more sinister and cunning than he had imagined?

Whoever dared ambush him in this manner would pay a price they could never bear!

His Life Matrix seemed to sense his fury and injury, accelerating its operation; a warm current surged toward his injured left arm and temple, slowly easing the pain. Yet simultaneously, the chilling curse energy struggled to obstruct this healing.

Qin Feng took a deep breath, suppressing his churning Qi and Blood and murderous intent. His immediate priority: treat his injuries, then absorb Star Marrow immediately! He must enhance his strength and complete the system upgrade as soon as possible!

He glanced at the unconscious bodyguard, then used his still-functional right hand to pull out an internal communicator and connect to Lin Xuan.

"Xishan Road, Section XX. Accident." His voice was colder than ice. "Send people to handle it. Investigate everything about that garbage truck and its driver. Also, prepare a medical team. Directly to Xishan Safety House."

After giving the order, he ignored the growing crowd of onlookers and the approaching sirens, his steps unsteady yet resolute, walking toward the Xishan Safety House.

Sunlight fell on his bloodstained cheek and icy gaze, outlining a chilling aura that sent shivers down the spine.

This "accidental" car crash had fully ignited the young master's fury. The storm to come would be even fiercer.
