Chapter 26: Vanguard Team in Danger! The War Priest Takes Action!

At this moment, Lin Yue'er was relying on her powerful recovery abilities as a War Priest to treat three wounded soldiers.

Meanwhile, deep within Hao Biaojidian, several more Dread Corpse Demons were waving their massive bone clubs, charging toward this Vanguard Team.

The lead Great Shield Warrior held his great shield high, blocking a club from one of the Corpse Demons, and shouted desperately, "Hold the line, you must hold the line, try to buy time for the medical team."

Before the words had even faded, a Sword Fighter beside the Great Shield Warrior was sent flying far away by a sweep from a Corpse Demon, falling to the ground and vomiting blood uncontrollably.

As that Sword Fighter was sent flying, the rhythm of the entire Vanguard Team was instantly disrupted, and the defensive line nearly collapsed.

The next second, another melee fighter had their body pierced by the spikes on a Corpse Demon's bone club; blood splattered, and they subsequently became food for the Corpse Demon.

The scene could be described as extremely tragic.

In an instant, the team of only five had two more casualties, and the remaining Great Shield Warrior could be said to be struggling to hold on alone.

"Captain, we can't hold on much longer, you withdraw first, I'll lure them away!"

The archer in the team fired arrows frantically at the Corpse Demons, attempting to lure away the Corpse Demon currently entangled with the Great Shield Warrior.

But no matter how desperately the archer tried, that Corpse Demon simply ignored them.

"Rat-tat-tat..."

At this moment, the female sharpshooter at the very rear of the team switched to the machine gun on her back, aimed at the Corpse Demon's head, and unleashed a frantic barrage of fire.

The Corpse Demon's skull was shattered by the bullets, and its massive body crashed to the ground, finally easing the pressure on the Great Shield Warrior.

Immediately following this, the female sharpshooter pulled out the grenade launcher at her waist and fired a grenade at the several charging Corpse Demons.

With a boom, the grenade exploded among the Corpse Demons, drawing the attention of these few Corpse Demons entirely onto her alone.

"Captain, you all withdraw first! I'll help you lure them away!"

The female sharpshooter wore a look of determination, shouted at the Great Shield Warrior, and kept firing her revolver at those Corpse Demons.

But just then, a Corpse Demon that had been hit in the eye roared in anger and violently hurled the bone club in its hand toward that female sharpshooter!

"Wu You, watch out!"

The Great Shield Warrior let out an urgent cry upon seeing this.

The female sharpshooter, known as Wu You, was shocked and hurriedly performed a roll, avoiding the incoming bone club.

However, her shoulder was grazed by the barbs on the bone club.

A piece of clothing on the female sharpshooter's shoulder was torn away, revealing bloodied, mangled skin.

The Great Shield Warrior's eyes turned blood-red, and he let out a roar, charging alone toward those few Corpse Demons.

In the blink of an eye, under the siege of several Corpse Demons, even with his high defense, the Great Shield Warrior was now covered in wounds, his energy nearly exhausted.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Several massive bone clubs slammed heavily onto the Great Shield Warrior's shield, the powerful force directly knocking him to his knees on the ground.

The Great Shield Warrior spat out a mouthful of blood, yet despite his severe injuries, he stubbornly held up his shield to support himself.

At this moment, a beam of Holy Light transformed into a translucent shield, blocking the bone clubs in the hands of those few Corpse Demons for the Great Shield Warrior.

The barrier protected the severely wounded Great Shield Warrior, and despite the Corpse Demons continuously striking the shield, he suffered no damage.

Holy Shield!

A defensive skill of a War Priest.

It can resist damage and ward off various negative status effects.

At this critical moment, Lin Yue'er acted decisively, saving the life of this Great Shield Warrior with a Holy Shield.

The next moment, Holy Light shimmered all over Lin Yue'er's body, and a golden war halberd about two meters long appeared in her hand.

Her gaze was resolute, and her body instantly turned into a streak of Holy Light, darting toward those few Corpse Demons.

The few Corpse Demons were scorched by the Holy Light, their entire bodies sizzling as white smoke rose in waves.

The surrounding air was instantly filled with the smell of burning flesh.

Lin Yue'er took the Great Shield Warrior's place, single-handedly holding off the attacks of the several Corpse Demons.

As expected of an SS-level Soul Profession War Priest, she could fight when advancing and defend when retreating.

Relying on the restraint Holy Light had over demonic creatures, Lin Yue'er forced the several Corpse Demons back by several meters.

The Great Shield Warrior was kneeling on the ground, using his broadsword to barely prop himself up; he wanted to go forward to join the battle but could not stand due to his severe injuries.

Enduring the intense pain in his body, he shouted loudly at the archer, "Quick, fire the red signal arrow!"

A red signal arrow often represents danger and a call for help.

The Exorcism Army nearby would immediately send a team to provide support upon seeing the signal arrow.

As the Captain of the Vanguard Team, he could see that although Lin Yue'er possessed a certain talent for combat, she still had too little experience in frontline warfare like this.

With her current strength, she would surely not be able to hold on for long against these few powerful Corpse Demons.

He and his squad had already suffered more than half casualties, but no matter what, he had to hold out until the arrival of the support troops, even if it cost him his life.

Lin Yue'er had always been engaged in medical rescue work, and this was the first time she had experienced a battle like this.

Furthermore, her Soul Profession had only recently awakened, and her application of skills in combat was still slightly unrefined.

Being able to single-handedly hold off the attacks of several Corpse Demons was already quite extraordinary.

These few Corpse Demons were all C-Grade Main General-Rank demonic creatures; they were not at all like the Servants and Grunts Zhou Chu had encountered earlier.

Main General-Rank demonic creatures were different from those ordinary Grunts; these guys were inherently bloodthirsty, and Lin Yue'er's Holy Light burns would only further enrage them, making them even more terrifying!

Soon, Lin Yue'er was forced back again by the several Corpse Demons, her body drenched in sweat, and her movements becoming flustered.

But she still resisted stubbornly, refusing to retreat.

Since they were a Vanguard Team of the Exorcism Army and colleagues from the medical team, Zhou Chu could not stand by and watch them die!

The key was that the experience from Main General-Rank demonic creatures would surely be very bountiful!

"Xina, quickly finish off these few Corpse Demons!"

At Zhou Chu's command, Xina acted decisively.

The god-tier longbow was like a heavy machine gun firing wildly; these few Main General-Rank Corpse Demons simply could not withstand it.

The Corpse Demons struck by the Dark Arrow fell to the ground one after another.

【Killed Dread Corpse Demon *6, gained 3000 experience points.】

【Gained Soul Fragment *6】

【Successfully collected Contract Material "Dread Corpse Demon (C-Grade)"】

【Your hero servant Xina shares experience points with you, experience points +3000】

【Your hero servant Xina has leveled up to level 8!】

In less than two seconds, 6 Main General-Rank Dread Corpse Demons were instantly killed and fell to the ground.

Zhou Chu's experience bar surged sharply, and he was just a little bit away from reaching level 9.

And Xina had even leveled up to level 8.

"This..."

Lin Yue'er and the Warrior with the giant shield saw the Corpse Demons in front of them suddenly fall, and for a moment their brains short-circuited, completely unable to react.

"No, no way! The reinforcements arrived this quickly?"

At this moment, that archer was raising his bow to aim at the sky, preparing to fire a signal arrow, when he saw all the Corpse Demons lying on the ground.

"What on earth happened? To have 6 Dread Corpse Demons all perish in an instant!"

"Could it be that the big shots from the army came in person?"

The Warrior with the giant shield widened his eyes, somewhat unable to believe everything happening before him.

If it wasn't those big shots from the Exorcism Army leading the campaign in person, who else would have the ability to instantly kill these Main General-Rank Dread Corpse Demons in one blow?
