Chapter 131
The car has only driven two blocks when his phone rings.
Qin Ze glances at the screen. Gao Hui.
He presses the answer button.
"Brother, don't take what happened just now to heart."
"I brought you here today with the intention of helping you expand your network."
"I didn't expect those two guys, Sun Dapeng and Ma Liang, to speak so harshly."
"If I had known they would be so disrespectful, I wouldn't have brought you."
"To put it bluntly, those two kids aren't just disrespecting you; they're disrespecting me!"
Qin Ze smiles:
"It's fine."
"I'm the type of person who isn't afraid of being looked down upon."
Gao Hui is silent for two seconds:
"You're really not angry?"
"What's there to be angry about?" Qin Ze says, holding the steering wheel with one hand, his tone relaxed.
"These second-generation rich kids grew up with silver spoons in their mouths; it's normal for them to be arrogant."
"They think their families' generations of accumulation can't be compared to me starting from scratch! It's normal for them to have that mindset!"
"A little bit of discipline is all they need."
"Actually, come to think of it, these people are surprisingly simple-minded when you interact with them."
Gao Hui is stunned when he hears this.
Then he can't help but laugh:
"Brother, I really admire your mindset."
"If it were me being confronted like that, I would have flipped the table long ago."
Qin Ze smiles and doesn't respond.
Having struggled in the company before, what kind of cold looks hasn't he received?
This bit of mockery, to him, doesn't even count as a scratch.
Gao Hui is silent for a few more seconds, then asks tentatively:
"Brother, let me ask you something."
"Go ahead."
"That Luyin Manor... did you really buy it?"
Qin Ze hears the uncertainty in Gao Hui's tone.
He smiles slightly:
"Just bought it."
"The paperwork was only finished yesterday."
On the other end of the line, Gao Hui is silent for a full five seconds.
Then he speaks, his voice carrying a hint of complex emotion:
"Brother, just how big is this business of yours?"
"A manor worth over ten million, and you bought it just like that?"
Qin Ze smiles:
"In business like investment, money begets money; once things are going smoothly, money is just a string of numbers."
"Of course, that's assuming it keeps going smoothly!"
Qin Ze says casually.
Gao Hui stops talking.
The car continues to drive forward.
After driving for about twenty minutes, the motorcade finally arrives at the main gate of Luyin Manor.
Qin Ze sees the manor's gate from afar.
Two huge wrought-iron gates, engraved with exquisite patterns.
On both sides of the gate are tall stone pillars, each topped with a stone lion.
The gate alone exudes a thick air of luxury.
Qin Ze drives the car to the gate, just about to go in.
Suddenly.
A middle-aged man in a security uniform rushes out of the guard room.
He stands in the middle of the gate, extends a hand, and blocks Qin Ze's car.
"Stop! Stop!"
The security guard's voice is loud, carrying a hint of impatience.
Qin Ze frowns and rolls down the window:
"Hello, I'm going in."
The security guard walks to the window and looks Qin Ze over.
Then he looks at the car Qin Ze is driving.
A BMW 740.
A look of disdain immediately appears on the security guard's face.
"Who are you?"
"Is this a place you can just enter?"
"Do you have an appointment? Is there a record of you?"
Qin Ze says patiently:
"This manor is mine."
"Why can't I enter?"
The security guard is stunned for a moment upon hearing this.
Then he laughs out loud.
"What did you say?"
"This manor is yours?"
"Then the whole city of Jiangcheng is mine!"
The security guard points to the manor behind him:
"You drive a crappy BMW and say this manor is yours?"
"Do you know how much this manor is worth?"
"Can someone driving a BMW 740 afford it?"
Qin Ze's expression darkens.
"You can call your superiors now."
"Just say someone named Qin Ze wants to enter the manor."
The security guard doesn't buy it at all.
He leans against the door frame of the guard room, arms crossed, with a look of contempt:
"Our boss's surname is Guo, not Qin."
"Stop spouting nonsense with me here."
"Get lost, get lost, don't block the way!"
Qin Ze takes a deep breath.
He is just about to say something else.
Behind him, a series of honks suddenly sounds.
Qin Ze glances through the rearview mirror.
Liang Bo's Maybach is parked not far behind him.
Immediately after, Sun Dapeng, Ma Liang, and the others also park their cars on the side of the road.
A group of people gets out of their cars.
Sun Dapeng walks to Qin Ze's car window, glances at the security guard, then looks at Qin Ze, a gloating smile on his face:
"Yo, President Qin."
"What's wrong?"
"Can't get in?"
Qin Ze says nothing.
Ma Liang also walks over, stands beside Sun Dapeng, and says sarcastically:
"President Qin, didn't you say this manor was yours?"
"How come you can't even get through the door?"
As soon as these words are out, the few car models who followed also start laughing.
The woman in red named Qingqing covers her mouth and laughs:
"President Qin, you aren't joking with us, are you?"
"This security guard doesn't even recognize you, and you say it's your manor?"
The woman in the blue dress named Xiaoli also chimes in:
"Exactly, President Qin."
"If you don't have the means, don't brag like that."
"You made us come all this way for nothing."
Sun Dapeng leans against the car door, a cigarette in his mouth, his tone carrying obvious mockery:
"President Qin, you really..."
"With so many people and so many cars, are we all just playing around here with you?"
"If you didn't have the means, you should have said so earlier."
"No need to puff out your cheeks to look fat."
Ma Liang also joins in the mockery:
"Exactly!"
"I had someone to talk business with over there!"
"And because of your words, everyone came running over!"
"And you can't even get through the door!"
"Aren't you just playing us for fools?"
Several other second-generation rich kids also start complaining:
"Yeah, coming all this way..."
"I thought I'd really get to see what the manor looks like."
"And we can't even get through the door."
"What's this all about?"
Gao Hui stands in the crowd, his expression looking a bit ugly.
He walks to Qin Ze's side and asks in a low voice:
"Brother, what's going on?"
Qin Ze glances at Gao Hui, his tone calm:
"It's just that this security guard doesn't recognize me."
Gao Hui is getting a bit anxious:
"Then why didn't you say you were coming today?"
"You could have at least had someone come out to receive us."
Qin Ze shakes his head:
"I didn't expect that buying a manor would result in being blocked at the door."
Gao Hui is speechless.
Sun Dapeng speaks up again, his tone carrying obvious triumph:
"President Qin, if you really can't get in, should we just leave?"
"Everyone's time is precious; we don't have time to waste here with you."
He hasn't even finished speaking.
Qin Ze suddenly takes out his phone.
He flips through his call logs and finds a number.
The number of the manor's butler that the property management sent him this morning.
He dials it directly.
The phone rings twice and is answered.
"Hello?"
A gentle male voice comes from the other end.
Qin Ze's voice is calm:
"I'm Qin Ze."
"The one who just bought Luyin Manor yesterday."
The other end is stunned for a moment.
Then the male voice immediately becomes respectful:
"Hello, President Qin! I'm the manor's butler, my surname is Wang."
"What are your instructions?"
Qin Ze glances at the security guard at the gate, his tone flat:
"I'm at the manor gate right now."
"Your security guard is blocking me and won't let me in."
The other end is silent for two seconds.
Then Butler Wang's voice carries a hint of nervousness:
"Please wait a moment, President Qin, I'll be at the gate immediately!"
"Five minutes!"
After saying this, he hangs up the phone.
Qin Ze puts his phone back in his pocket, leans back in the driver's seat, crosses his arms, and closes his eyes.
Sun Dapeng sees his calm demeanor and feels a bit uneasy.
He glances at Ma Liang and asks in a low voice:
"Who is he calling?"
Ma Liang shakes his head:
"I don't know."
"Just putting on an act, right?"
