Chapter 66

~8 min read 1,499 words

Zhou Hao looked at the group of people stirring up trouble and understood their intentions.

They didn't really want to see Qin Ze; they wanted to see Qin Ze make a fool of himself.

After all, Qin Ze was the class monitor in college and had been the center of attention; now that he wasn't doing well, they could take the opportunity to step on him and satisfy their own sense of superiority.

Zhou Hao thought for a moment and took out his phone.

"Fine, I'll give him a call."

He found Qin Ze's number and dialed it.

No. 1 Reception Room.

Qin Ze's phone rang.

He glanced at the caller ID; it was an unfamiliar number.

But he had a rough guess who it was.

He answered the phone and put it on speaker.

"Hello?"

"Qin Ze, it's me, Zhou Hao."

Zhou Hao's voice came from the other end of the phone, carrying a feigned enthusiastic smile.

"I heard you're also at the Fusheng Grand Hotel today? Why didn't you contact your classmates? Everyone wants to see you!"

Qin Ze smiled, his tone calm.

"Zhou Hao, is something the matter?"

"Nothing much, it's just that all the classmates are here and want to invite you over for a couple of drinks."

"Look at you, you didn't even say a word when you arrived; it's rare for our class to be this complete."

Qin Ze could hear the faint noise and discussion on the other end of the phone.

He sneered, knowing exactly what they were thinking.

"You want to see me, right?"

"Sure, I'm in the No. 1 Reception Room; you guys can come over."

The other end of the phone went quiet for a moment.

Then, Zhou Hao's voice rose again, carrying a hint of disbelief.

"T-the No. 1 Reception Room?"

"Yes."

"Just tell the front desk you're looking for me when you get here."

After saying this, Qin Ze hung up the phone.

Wang Peng's eyes widened:

"Old Qin, you're really letting them come over?"

Qin Ze nodded:

"Let them come; I also want to see what kind of stunt Zhou Hao is trying to pull."

Third-floor banquet hall.

Zhou Hao put down his phone, his expression shifting between anger and uncertainty.

"Brother Hao, what did Qin Ze say?" Huang Mao asked impatiently.

Zhou Hao took a deep breath and squeezed out a smile.

"Qin Ze said he's in the No. 1 Reception Room and told us to go over."

As soon as these words were out, the banquet hall exploded.

"No. 1 Reception Room? Is he really at the Fusheng Grand Hotel?"

"Let's go, let's go, let's go see!"

"Could Qin Ze be puffing himself up to look big? Renting a reception room to show off?"

"Definitely; didn't he just get dumped and laid off by his company? Where would he get the money?"

Zhou Hao listened to everyone's discussion and sneered in his heart.

This Qin Ze must have taken out online loans and specifically came to the hotel to book a reception room just to slap him in the face.

"Fine, since our class monitor Qin is so sincere, let's go take a look."

Zhou Hao straightened his suit and tie and led the way out of the banquet hall.

Behind him, over thirty classmates followed in a rush, heading toward the elevator in a massive group.

In the elevator, a few girls whispered.

"Do you think Qin Ze really has money now?"

"How could he! Last week I heard Zhou Ying's friend say that Qin Ze was laid off by his company; that's also the reason Zhou Ying broke up with him."

"Then what is he doing today..."

"Showing off! Men are all like this, obsessed with saving face."

"But the dishes Wang Peng posted in his Moments look quite expensive."

"What's the use of expensive? If I took out online loans, I could set up a table even more extravagant than that!"

"That's true..."

The elevator stopped on the fifth floor.

Zhou Hao walked out first, looking at the heavy double doors at the end of the corridor, his eyes flickering.

No. 1 Reception Room.

He had heard from friends before that the No. 1 Reception Room at the Fusheng Grand Hotel was usually not open to the public and could only be used by the hotel's top-tier VIPs.

Qin Ze could book this place?

Absolutely impossible.

He must have used some method or spent a huge amount of money to rent it.

"Let's go, let's go in and see."

Zhou Hao led the way over and reached out to push the door open.

The moment the door opened, the scene inside left everyone stunned.

Magnificent decor, gorgeous crystal chandeliers, thick carpets, leather sofas, and that large round table that could seat over a dozen people.

The table was filled with exquisite dishes, and the air was filled with the aroma of food.

Qin Ze was sitting in the main seat, holding a cigar, leisurely blowing smoke rings.

Wang Peng, Song Bin, and Xiao Na were sitting next to him, all with smiles on their faces.

Compared to the ordinary meal in the banquet hall, this scene was worlds apart.

"Yo, you're here."

Qin Ze looked up at the door, his tone calm.

Zhou Hao took a deep breath, trying to suppress the shock in his heart, and squeezed out a smile.

"Qin Ze, not bad! I didn't expect you to be doing so well, drinking in the reception room!"

He walked in as he spoke, and the classmates behind him followed in a steady stream.

Soon, the originally spacious reception room became crowded.

Over thirty people stood inside, their eyes focused on Qin Ze.

Qin Ze smiled and said nothing.

Zhou Hao walked to the table and glanced at the dishes.

Every dish looked expensive.

He became even more convinced that Qin Ze was definitely puffing himself up to look big.

"Qin Ze, you've got quite the setup here!"

"Our class reunion was happening, and you didn't show up, choosing to host your own little feast here—that's not very cool!"

Qin Ze looked up at him:

"You guys didn't invite me, and I didn't know you were here?"

"What kind of talk is that!"

Zhou Hao laughed.

"We're all old classmates; do we need a special invitation? You can come whenever you want!"

"Is that so?"

Qin Ze smiled, but not quite.

"Then how come I heard Wang Peng say that you were just in the banquet hall saying I was living like a dog?"

As soon as these words were out, the atmosphere became instantly awkward.

Zhou Hao gave two dry laughs.

"How could that be! You're the class monitor; everyone respects you too much!"

"We were just joking!"

Qin Ze raised an eyebrow.

"That's quite an interesting joke you have there."

Zhou Hao couldn't keep his composure.

He gritted his teeth and turned to look at the classmates behind him.

"Everyone, isn't that right? I was just joking!"

"Yes, yes, yes, Brother Hao was just joking!"

"Qin Ze, don't take it seriously!"

"Exactly, it's normal for classmates to joke around."

A group of people chimed in one after another.

Soon, someone started being sarcastic.

A boy wearing glasses walked over, smiling at Qin Ze.

"Qin Ze, you're doing pretty well for yourself now!"

"This meal must have cost a lot of money, right?"

Qin Ze glanced at him; he remembered his name was Liu Yang, a fence-sitter in college who only hung out with whoever had money.

"It's alright."

Qin Ze said casually.

"How much is 'alright'?"

Liu Yang pressed, "Tell us so we can open our eyes!"

"Exactly, Qin Ze, you've made it now, you can't keep it hidden!"

"We're all old classmates, tell us!"

Zhou Hao cleared his throat.

"Qin Ze, we're all classmates; since you've put on such a big show today, shouldn't you show some appreciation?"

"Look, it's rare for our class to gather like this; as the former class monitor, you should at least treat everyone to a drink, right?"

"Yes, yes, yes! Treat us! Treat us!"

"Qin Ze, you're so rich now, it wouldn't be too much to treat us to a meal, would it?"

"Exactly, you're still the class monitor!"

A group of people started stirring up trouble.

Wang Peng couldn't stand it anymore and stood up abruptly.

"Do you guys have any shame?"

"You didn't invite Old Qin to the class reunion, and now that you see he has money, you come to sponge off him?"

"Wang Peng, what kind of talk is that." Zhou Hao interrupted immediately.

"What do you mean sponge off him? We're all classmates; what's wrong with Qin Ze treating us to a meal?"

"Exactly, Wang Peng, you're protecting Qin Ze so much—is he your father?"

Huang Mao chimed in from the side.

Wang Peng was so angry his face turned red, and just as he was about to speak, he was stopped by Qin Ze.
