Chapter 75: Wedding Night I
The banquet was prepared too well, not a single dish was left over. In the kitchen, there were only four clean chickens and about twenty catties of pork left.
Several aunts were smiling as they finished cleaning the kitchen and were about to leave. Li Zilan wiped her hands on her apron and stuffed the red envelopes she had prepared long ago into everyone's hands one by one, "You all worked hard today, take a bit of the good fortune."
Everyone declined slightly before accepting them. When Liu Chunxing walked outside and took a look, she found there were actually two yuan wrapped in the red cloth, and she was so happy she couldn't close her mouth.
Li Zilan placed the pork and chickens into an enamel basin and covered it, warmed a pot of hot water, and took four or five clean side dishes out of the cupboard to keep warm on a steamer rack.
Then she wiped the stove clean and was just about to lock the door when she was stopped.
"Sister-in-law, is there still pork in the kitchen?" Pei Fugui asked with a smile, holding an enamel basin.
He was just one step away from saying "Give me some meat" out loud.
Li Zilan almost choked. If she remembered correctly, Pei Fugui's family hadn't given a gift, and in the end, it was that girl Huimei who couldn't stand it and made up a gift.
"You all ate at the banquet and know that nothing was left, and there is no meat," Li Zilan said with a smile, then closed the kitchen door and left.
Pei Huaigang turned away, unwilling. He had clearly seen the pork in the enamel basin on the cutting board; what was wrong with his big brother sharing a little bit of his meat with him?
Chen Lianzhen had seen it too, but since there were still people outside, it wasn't a good time to start a conflict.
She whispered, "Huaigang, go over tonight and ask your big brother for some meat to nourish your wife's body."
"Alright, Mother."
Pei Fugui added, "Take two chickens as well, and if there are eggs, take some of those too."
After Pei Huaiye separated from them, he built a house and bought the Three Rounds and One Sound. The Qiu Family gave a bride price of five hundred, and the dowry money from Su Qingyue's natal family and her benefactor totaled seven hundred, not counting other valuable furniture.
Today, someone asked Su Mingqiang why he didn't accept the bride price, and they heard Su Mingqiang holding a wine cup and saying happily: "Whether it's the bride price, the dowry, or the gift money received today, it all belongs to the young couple. I don't want a single cent!"
Chen Lianzhen said disdainfully: "Su Mingqiang is just a fool. The bride price is meant to honor the parents; he's too stupid to even dare to take it!"
"Exactly, Su Qingyue and her husband made a fortune today. Over a thousand in one day, not counting the gift money, and they have a television and the Three Rounds and One Sound. Aren't they afraid of being robbed!"
Pei Huaigang counted his big brother's assets in detail, his heart bubbling with jealousy.
Pei Fugui glanced at Pei Huaigang, his eyes flickering. The gifts from the villagers today were not low, with most being five yuan.
Qiu Zhiyang was at the entrance with Pei Huaiye seeing off guests. Su Mingqiang was drunk and swaying as he walked. Pei Huaiye helped him to the east Side Room and laid him down, "Dad, just rest here for a while."
The answer to Pei Huaiye was a rhythmic snoring.
Li Zilan and Su Qingwu pushed the Bull Cart to return all the tables, chairs, and benches.
Li Qingxi came out of the Side Room carrying bowls and chopsticks. Li Zilan asked, "Qingxi, did your sister eat?"
"She ate, sister-in-law. Sister just finished washing up and laid down."
Hearing that she had just finished washing, Pei Huaiye's ears turned red instantly.
Li Zilan pursed her lips and smiled, pulling Zhuangzhuang and Qingxi along, "Let's go, let's head back and let the young couple have some peace. Hey, where is Dad?"
Pei Huaiye smiled, "He drank too much and is sleeping in the east Side Room."
Qiu Zhiyang thought to himself that he hadn't even stayed in his own apprentice's room yet, so why did Old Man Su get to stay there first?
"Mingqiang and I will both stay in the east room. You two go back with the child and get some rest early after a tiring day."
"Alright then, Uncle Qiu, sorry to trouble you to keep an eye on my dad."
They exchanged polite pleasantries back and forth, but Pei Huaiye stood under the eaves and didn't hear a word; his heart had already flown to Su Qingyue.
Once the courtyard was completely quiet, Pei Huaiye bolted the main gate, washed up, and returned to the west Wedding Room with the dampness of water still on him.
Su Qingyue had just finished bathing and was so tired she had fallen asleep. Her little face was flushed pink, tender enough to squeeze water out of, and her small mouth was slightly open, like a sweet and alluring cherry with a moist luster.
Pei Huaiye's gaze traveled down inch by inch. She was still wearing her wedding dress—perhaps she had put it back on after her bath. The top two buttons were undone, revealing her soft, fair swan-like neck above, and glimpses of beautiful scenery below.
She was sleeping on her side, making her curves even more graceful and shapely. The exposed skin was like congealed fat, white and healthy with a luster. Her two slender, snow-white calves were pressed together, and her toes were round and cute, glowing with a soft, greasy sheen.
Pei Huaiye's Adam's apple bobbed. He leaned over and kissed her cherry-pink lips, "Darling, wake up."
Su Qingyue woke up in a daze, and upon meeting his gentle gaze, her eyebrows immediately crinkled into a smile. She stretched out her fair, tender arms to wrap around Pei Huaiye's neck and acted spoiled, "Why did you only just come back?"
Her voice trailed off, soft and coquettish.
Pei Huaiye took the opportunity to pull her into his arms, "Mm, I just finished bathing." He patted her little bottom, the round, soft, and bouncy sensation making his heart race once again.
Su Qingyue let out a soft moan, a blush flying onto her cheeks, and she glared at Pei Huaiye with her watery, glistening eyes.
Pei Huaiye had just bathed, and his crew cut wasn't even dry, dripping water. The droplets ran down his sharp, handsome face to his Adam's apple, then dripped onto his sturdy, powerful chest muscles, soaking the edges of his white undershirt.
Su Qingyue's gaze traveled downward; the thin undershirt blocked his lean waist, but further down... it looked very powerful and quite astonishing.
Pei Huaiye realized where she was looking, his eyes darkening, and he pounced like a leopard.
Their lips had just touched...
"Auntie, I missed you, boo-hoo."
"Thump!"
The sound of Su Zhuangzhuang pounding on the door coincided exactly with the sound of Pei Huaigang landing after jumping over the wall.
Twenty minutes earlier, Su Zhuangzhuang had asked his mother, "When is Auntie coming home?"
"Silly Zhuangzhuang, Auntie isn't coming back; she's living with your Uncle from now on."
Su Zhuangzhuang drooped his little face, "Mom is lying, Auntie said she'd come back if she missed me."
Su Qingwu turned over and laughed, "She's not coming back. Why would she come back when she has her own home?"
Su Zhuangzhuang wrinkled his little face, "What should I do if I miss Auntie?"
"Then go find your Auntie."
This was the last thing Li Zilan said before falling completely asleep. She and her husband had been tired for several days, and soon they drifted into a sweet, deep slumber.
Seeing that his parents were fast asleep, Su Zhuangzhuang, being a well-behaved child, got up, put on his clothes, hugged his little pillow, and walked to the entrance of his Auntie's house all by himself.
A delicate, soft voice rang out, "Stop it, get up quickly, it sounds like someone is pounding on the door!"
The light in the Side Room turned on. Su Qingyue pushed the man buried in her shoulder away. Pei Huaiye got up, his face dark, and walked to the main gate in a few strides, "Who is it so late at... Zhuangzhuang?"
"Boo-hoo, Uncle, I missed Auntie, I want to sleep with Auntie..." Su Zhuangzhuang wiped his tears, his shoes even on the wrong feet.
Pei Huaiye: It's you little brat again!
Su Qingyue draped her clothes over herself and came out, bringing him back to the Side Room, "Zhuangzhuang, how did you come here all by yourself?"
"I'm a good boy, Mom and Dad are sleeping, and I missed Auntie, so I came by myself." Su Zhuangzhuang puffed out his little chest, looking very proud and seeking praise.
The child's eyes were clear black and white, filled with ignorant innocence, "Auntie, when are you going home?"
In an instant, Pei Huaiye's gaze became so fierce it could practically eat someone.
