Chapter 282: Investigate Chen Yuqi thoroughly—I think he's just not a good person!

Chen Yuqi seemed to have a faint idea of backing down.

His contract didn't include bungee jumping, so he didn't have to do it.

He even needs a stunt double for wire work; bungee jumping is so terrifying and dangerous, there's no need for him to take the risk.

Lin Meng saw that Chen Yuqi was afraid and hesitating, and suddenly felt surprised.

"Our Movie Emperor, are you scared? That shouldn't be—I remember in your last film there was a scene where you fell from a high building, and the news said you did it yourself without a stunt double. How could you not dare now?"

Lin Meng crossed her arms, wearing a look of eager anticipation.

After seeing Chen Yuqi go to find Song Zhi last night, she returned to her room and looked up Chen Yuqi.

If you don't check, you wouldn't know—this person's superficial efforts are truly thorough, with not a bit of negative news, and all press releases praise him.

Lin Meng isn't a celebrity chaser, and she doesn't know how to dig deep; she can only find scattered bits of information.

Among them were praises of Chen Yuqi being extremely dedicated.

The film she mentioned was that year's box-office champion, with extremely high attention.

Chen Yuqi did the whole thing without a stunt double, personally handling everything, and earned unanimous praise from both inside and outside the industry.

Looking at it now, this is probably fake—just look at Chen Yuqi's appearance; he's clearly afraid inside. This is a live broadcast; even others pretending need to act brave a bit, but it's clear he's afraid to jump.

Only a moment later, Chen Yuqi calmed down.

His left and right brains clashed a bit, feeling that if he backed down now, it would be all harm and no benefit; first, people would doubt whether those previous high-difficulty moves were really done by him personally.

The bungee jumping item here has had zero accident rate so far; safety is guaranteed, worst case we just go all out.

The next second, Chen Yuqi regained his smiling face and said to Lin Meng:

"All right, then let's compete—if I win, you'll team up with me."

He's confident in his experience picking up girls; Lin Meng says she doesn't want that on the surface, but she's probably looking for an excuse to be close to him, wanting more interaction.

After all, his fame is widespread; sharing a second of screen time with him is profitable.

The two just settled on the written test content like that, completely ignoring the variety show process, making the people outside rush around in circles.

Li Ping only flustered for a moment before calming down; the program is funded by the Fifth Master, and the competition was proposed by Miss Lin first, so the Fifth Master definitely wouldn't say Miss Lin is acting out of line—he'd actually let her have her way.

What he should do now is ensure the bungee jumping is absolutely safe!

At this moment, the audience also became excited.

"It's really exciting; this looks unscripted, more like a spur-of-the-moment idea. Lin Meng's variety show effect isn't bad—it's rare to see an amateur shine like this."

"I think it's definitely a script; a live broadcast without a script, if something goes wrong there's no time to fix it—impossible to go live without a script."

"I agree with the comment above; this is definitely a script, it's just that the actors' acting is very good, especially this Lin Meng, who is extremely arrogant, daring to challenge the Movie Emperor."

"This is definitely backed by capital, she's also quite outstanding in appearance; she should definitely be pushed hard right away!"

"I couldn't agree more! Even Chen Yuqi was roped in to be her partner; this pretty girl's background must be formidable—these days, without some backing it's really hard to stand out in the circle."

"……"

The comment section was buzzing, and the live broadcast's heat once shot to first place across the entire platform.

Lin Meng's name also quickly became known to more people.

Ye Chenjing stared at Chen Yuqi's face, feeling a kind of helplessness as if a slipper couldn't be thrown into the screen.

His behavior is tantamount to public harassment; relying on his status as Movie Emperor, is there no one who dares to speak up?

Fortunately, Ye Chenjing understands Lin Meng; someone like Chen Yuqi, she would absolutely look down on.

"Investigate Chen Yuqi thoroughly—I think he's just not a good person!"

Ye Chenjing instructed Sun Yao, who promptly agreed, but privately thought, this is already the fifth time along this journey that the General Manager has had him investigate Chen Yuqi.

For Miss Lin, the General Manager really would do anything.

But this Chen Yuqi really is something—daring to be the General Manager's love rival, he's destined for misfortune.

"By the way, General Manager, I see the comments saying Miss Lin has strong backing, someone wants to promote her—there might be people looking into her."

Upon hearing that, Ye Chenjing then looked at the comment section; he had just been focused on watching Lin Meng glare at Chen Yuqi, and hadn't glanced at the comments much.

A quick glance showed that indeed someone said they wanted to investigate Lin Meng's background.

These netizens can find anything, including others' privacy, but they just can't find a partner.

"Notify legal and PR: as soon as any news about Lin Meng appears online, shut it down, trace the source, and take action."

Seeing the General Manager so serious, Sun Yao immediately passed on the notice.

The legal and PR departments of the Ye Group are top-notch; having them safeguard Miss Lin is naturally foolproof.

Soon, the two departments of the group received the news and immediately began preparations.

Although they also gossiped about what exactly Lin Meng's relationship with the General Manager is, professional ethics keep them only thinking it in their hearts, not speaking it out.

In the recording studio, other guests more or less had some opinions.

Chen Yuqi wouldn't say it either—after all, he's a big name; no one dares to tell him to add scenes.

But Lin Meng is just a pure amateur, holding only the most marginal walk-on script; how could she get so much exposure?

Song Zhi has always been worried; since Chen Yuqi dared to say he wants to be the show's couple, he's definitely not a good thing—if Miss Lin can't beat him, that's bad.

But if she does win, it seems not so good either.

Chen Yuqi is probably narrow-minded; if Lin Meng beats him, that's a major loss of face—Chen Yuqi will surely hold a grudge.

Compared to Song Zhi, everyone else is dissatisfied.

Xie Zhiyun immediately couldn't sit still; regardless of this being a live broadcast, she right away started acting coquettish toward the director.

"Director, this isn't proper—others haven't even paired up yet; is it not a bit wrong for them to do this?"

Li Ping had no intention of responding to Xie Zhiyun's words; instead, he looked toward Lin Meng to confirm outside.

"Lin Meng, have you really decided to go one-on-one against Chen Yuqi?"

Lin Meng nodded, "I'm sure—tell the director to notify the relevant staff to get ready; this bungee jumping match, I want to face him now!"

She could wait no longer, wanting to quickly know just how much foundation she had, how long until she could fearlessly face the vast sky and soar freely.

Xie Zhiyun saw the situation was wrong, immediately stopped acting coquettish and switched to other tactics.

「Director, I also want to join; I admire Chen Yuqi, and I want to compete with Lin Meng! 」

She has experience with Wire work, so bungee jumping should be similar; she isn't afraid!

When Xie Zhiyun finished speaking, everyone was extremely surprised; even Lin Meng couldn't help but look at her.

She really wanted to say, "Do you want this man? Then take him," but she held back, because she was too eager to bungee jump.

Chen Yuqi frowned, about to speak, but then heard Li Ping slap the table and say:

「Fine, then let's move up the bungee jumping; each person will try a jump once, just as an early adaptation, so tomorrow's team jump will go a bit more smoothly. 」
