Chapter 1026

"We are not rebelling; the order from above said it was to catch a fugitive."

Chu Yuankai felt somewhat helpless; this matter was truly a bit confusing.

Thinking about it now, it really felt somewhat strange.

There had never been such a large-scale blockade; it was riddled with oddities everywhere.

Logically speaking, catching a single fugitive should not require such a massive mobilization.

But he only had the duty to obey and execute orders unconditionally.

Now that the imperial army had arrived, the matter became even more complex and difficult to understand.

This matter was not as simple as it appeared on the surface.

It was possible that there was a problem with his superiors.

Thinking of this, Chu Yuankai only felt he had suffered an unprovoked disaster.

Being caught in the middle was truly difficult.

"Oh, is it really as simple as catching a fugitive?"

"Then do you know where the Court's Senior Minister Shangqing Meng Yi is now?"

Speaking of Shangqing Meng Yi, Meng Tian's expression turned ugly.

Shangqing Meng Yi's life or death was currently unknown.

How could he have a good expression?

"Senior Minister Shangqing Meng Yi?"

Chu Yuankai was stunned.

"Didn't Senior Minister Shangqing Meng Yi go to the Nanhai Commandery's Panyu capital long ago?"

"This subordinate has not seen him either; I only know he went to the Panyu capital."

Chu Yuankai was somewhat puzzled; why ask about Shangqing Meng Yi so suddenly?

"Then if this general tells you that Shangqing Meng Yi did not go to the Panyu capital voluntarily, but was captured and taken there?"

Meng Tian looked at Chu Yuankai with a grim expression; the matter was shrouded in mist.

Perhaps it had nothing to do with the person in front of him, but that was not certain.

But since this matter had not been investigated clearly, he certainly would not give him a good look.

"What? Senior Minister Shangqing Meng Yi was captured and taken to the Panyu capital?"

"This... how is this possible!?"

Chu Yuankai was shocked.

He was completely stunned.

He truly did not know about this.

Now it seemed that the imperial army's appearance here was inevitable.

Even a high-ranking official sent by the Court had been captured.

This was a great crime!

If this wasn't rebellion, what was it?

It was no wonder these people said they were rebelling as soon as they arrived.

Now he finally understood this point.

Chu Yuankai's entire expression turned ugly.

Because he was truly ignorant of the situation. ===== CHAPTER 1028 =====
