Chapter 1095: Promotion and wealth, all in this one gamble!

Lu Zhi was right; Liu Bang was indeed very painful.

Back then, when he returned to Peixian and told Lu Gong and Lu Zhi that Yi Xiaochuan and Lu Su were already married and living in Xianyang, it was to make Lu Zhi give up her obsession with Yi Xiaochuan, so that she would see his good points and marry him.

However, he never expected that Lu Zhi would use marrying him as a threat to force him to bring her to Xianyang.

But Liu Bang also figured it out.

It was just a trip to Xianyang; he would treat it as gaining some experience. Anyway, Yi Xiaochuan had already been sent by him to build the Great Wall, and Lu Su was dead; both human and material evidence had disappeared.

Lu Zhi wouldn't be able to see any clues.

Once Lu Zhi couldn't find Yi Xiaochuan in Xianyang, she would naturally give up.

As a result, he didn't expect that after arriving in Xianyang, Lu Zhi would find many reasons, such as him having no money, his official position being too small, and so on, to force him to do something big.

It just so happened that Young Master Fu Su was following the example of Lord Mengchang in opening the Juxian Hall, so Liu Bang shamelessly went to apply as a man of virtue, but fate played another joke on him.

He met Yi Xiaochuan here.

Yi Xiaochuan was still alive. Liu Bang panicked at that moment, not only worrying about his framing of Yi Xiaochuan being exposed, but also worrying that Lu Zhi would break her promise and no longer marry him.

When Yi Xiaochuan met Lu Gong and Lu Zhi, Liu Bang worried about this matter every moment, feeling extremely painful.

He didn't expect that today Lu Zhi would come to him and directly speak his mind.

Of course, what he cared about even more was Lu Zhi asking him to report Yi Xiaochuan and Beauty Yu.

Reporting Yi Xiaochuan meant Lu Zhi had let go and no longer liked Yi Xiaochuan, but who was Beauty Yu?

Seeming to see Liu Bang's doubt, Lu Zhi explained: "Beauty Yu is a princess who came from the State of Tu'an for a marriage alliance; she is the Emperor's favored concubine. That day, Beauty Yu was critically ill, and the Emperor had issued an imperial notice to seek medical treatment for her. The healer who entered the palace to treat her back then was Yi Xiaochuan."

"I didn't expect Xiaochuan to know medical skills!" Liu Bang felt some emotion. So, was this a case of long-term illness leading to medical expertise? He still remembered Yi Xiaochuan contracting the plague and nearly dying.

"Hmph, whether he knows medical skills or not, I don't know, but I know that he and Beauty Yu have had an unclear relationship for a long time. Posting the imperial notice and entering the palace was just to have a secret meeting with the other party."

With another word from Lu Zhi, Liu Bang instantly realized why Lu Zhi asked him to report Yi Xiaochuan.

This was wanting to put Yi Xiaochuan to death.

He had already been ruthless enough; sending Yi Xiaochuan to build the Great Wall was because those who built the Great Wall rarely returned alive. He didn't expect Lu Zhi to be even more ruthless, directly wanting to harm Yi Xiaochuan to death.

If the affair between Yi Xiaochuan and the Imperial Concubine were exposed, there was no doubt the Emperor would be furious.

Considering that Yushu was a Tu'an princess and a person of the marriage alliance, she might be able to survive, but Yi Xiaochuan would definitely die.

However, Liu Bang still had some concerns, "Are you sure this is true? What if it's not true? If I rashly report him, wouldn't I be asking for trouble?"

Liu Bang naturally didn't mind doing something that could put Yi Xiaochuan to death.

What he really cared about was being afraid that this news was fake.

Consequently, he confirmed it with Lu Zhi again and again.

"If you don't go, that's fine; I'll go myself. But by then, what you'll have to think about isn't how to get married, but how to escape with your life! I will also report you for knowing but not reporting, and deliberately concealing it, which is also a capital crime! Think about it carefully: either go and gamble, gaining both fame and fortune, or you get nothing and lose your life as well." Lu Zhi stared at Liu Bang and said.

Under Lu Zhi's gaze, Liu Bang slowly sat at the table and pondered.

With Lu Zhi's words reaching this point, the truth of the matter seemed to no longer be important.

Liu Bang pondered for a whole night.

In the end, he decided to go to Yi Xiaochuan first to test him.

Although he didn't know where Lu Zhi got this news, she spoke with reason and evidence, not like a fake, so this matter was very likely true.

Consequently, the next day, in the Juxian Hall, Liu Bang poured wine for Yi Xiaochuan while saying to him: "Xiaochuan, I only just found out now that you are actually proficient in medical skills, and that you even posted the imperial notice that day to treat the Emperor's favored concubine, Beauty Yu."

"You cured her; I'm afraid you received quite a few rewards from the Emperor!"

If it were a normal person, hearing this would surely be somewhat proud, but Liu Bang did not see any pride on Yi Xiaochuan's face; on the contrary, a look of sorrow appeared on his face.

"I did indeed cure her, but what use is this reward to me?"

Things like gold were ultimately just external objects; what he wanted was Yushu herself.

Liu Bang grasped a trace of unusual meaning from Yi Xiaochuan's words, "Why does my worthy brother say this?"

Yi Xiaochuan shook his head and did not explain much, "Nothing!"

Consequently, Liu Bang found it difficult to continue asking, but instead tried to ply Yi Xiaochuan with wine.

Because of his separation from Yushu, Yi Xiaochuan was already drowning his sorrows in drink all day long. If not for Meng Tian, he wouldn't even have come to the Juxian Hall. Under Liu Bang's plying with wine, he soon became drunk.

Also because he was drunk, his thoughts were not as clear as one might imagine.

"Yushu, Yushu..."

A low voice came from his mouth, heard by Liu Bang, who was on the side.

Liu Bang's body couldn't help but shake; he didn't expect to obtain key information in this way.

If he remembered correctly, the Beauty Yu favored by the Emperor was indeed named Yushu.

Yi Xiaochuan really did have an unclear relationship with the other party.

Last night, when Lu Zhi found him, the words she said resurfaced in Liu Bang's mind.

Liu Bang finally made up his mind.

Thus, on this day, he came to the palace and, through some money, bribed people in the palace to seek an audience with the Chief Eunuch.

Liu Bang knew very well that the only person who could approach the Emperor was the Chief Eunuch.

So only by telling this matter to the Chief Eunuch, and then having him pass it on to the Emperor, could he put Yi Xiaochuan to death.

Soon, he met the Chief Eunuch.

The Chief Eunuch's eyes flickered as he sized up Liu Bang, a strange look flashing in his eyes. Finally, he said in a low voice, "Follow me!"

He took Liu Bang to a palace.

Inside the palace, a man with an ordinary appearance was waiting quietly.

He was not surprised at all by Liu Bang's arrival.
