Chapter 685

Li Er ordered the city to be blockaded.

Whether they could catch him or not, they would search the whole place first.

The order to blockade the city had just been passed down.

A piece of news was sent to the Golden Hall.

"Emperor, Lord Zhangsun Wuji has returned, and the ship has already arrived at the port!"

Li Er's spirits lifted.

Wuji's return was just in time.

Zhangsun Wuji's trip to sea had a very important task: to bring back the Japanese pirates who had previously attacked the Taizhou county government office and behead them to show the public!

As long as he killed the Japanese pirates he brought back in front of all the people in the city.

He believed the rumors about colluding with pirates would collapse without being attacked.

He could slightly restore some of the imperial court's prestige.

"Prepare the carriage; I will personally lead the hundred officials to the port to welcome him!"

The Emperor personally welcoming him—this was the highest courtesy for a general who had won a battle.

Now, Zhangsun Wuji also enjoyed this treatment.

Li Er led a group of civil and military officials and headed straight for the riverbank in a grand manner.

All the common people in the city also followed behind, watching the excitement from afar.

With this commotion, the matter of blockading the city and searching naturally couldn't be carried out.

Riverbank.

Qin Mu and Wei Zhongxian also followed the crowd watching the excitement out of the city and arrived at the riverbank pier.

The Daoist clothes had long been discarded.

Everyone's attention was on the large ship that Zhangsun Wuji was riding.

The common people were discussing it heatedly.

"I heard Zhangsun Wuji went to sea this time to catch pirates."

"Didn't they say he colluded with pirates? How come he's catching pirates again?"

"It is said that the pirates are all Japanese; that physique is clear at a glance. We'll know when we see them in a while."

"If he colluded with pirates, wouldn't it be easy to just grab a few to hand in?"

"Didn't you see the Emperor even brought the hundred officials to welcome him?"

"What if the Emperor came? Zhangsun Wuji didn't even bring soldiers; is he catching pirates with his bare hands?"
