Chapter 108
Twilight Divine Realm, the Supreme Heaven.
Here there is no matter, no stars, only colossal bands of light representing the primal laws flowing silently, intertwining into a magnificent yet dead silent divine kingdom.
Seven figures, each different in form, colossal to the point of being indescribable in words, hover at the confluence of the law-light bands.
They are the most ancient beings of this realm, the Seven Great Ancient Gods of the Twilight Divine Realm.
One, whose entire body is forged from white bones, with netherfire burning in its eye sockets, sent a thought that shook the divine kingdom: "The Rotmarsh is dead."
"The faith-link of the White Bones Wasteland has also been severed."
Another, whose body is surrounded by storms and lightning, responded, his voice like billions of thunderbolts exploding simultaneously.
"There are outsiders who have intruded upon our pasture."
One whose body resembled a molten-rock giant mountain spoke in a low, muffled tone.
Just not long ago, they simultaneously sensed the aura of a powerful subordinate evil god, the Lord of Rotmarsh, completely vanish in the White Bones Wasteland.
As their faith descended, they could perceive that all faith nodes in that region were also completely wiped out in an extremely short time.
Such efficiency could not be accomplished by any internal force of the Twilight Divine Realm.
"How interesting; for endless ages, aside from those poor worms lost in spacetime turbulence, it's been a long time since fresh flesh and blood actively came to our door."
One, with a graceful figure yet composed of countless resentful spirits and shrill-screaming faces, laughed lightly; her voice was sharp and piercing, enough to rend souls.
"Are they the remnants of the human rebels who call themselves resisters? Where did they find their helpers?"
"No, though Rotmarsh's strength isn't top-tier, it's far from trivial. Those human rats hiding in the sewers, even if they swarmed out en masse, could not possibly annihilate him completely in such a short time."
The Lord of the White Bones' icy thought swept across the divine kingdom,
"Moreover, that purifying force is very pure, carrying the aura of another world."
The Seven Great Ancient Gods fell into a brief silence.
They are the rulers of this world, but not omniscient nor omnipotent.
Regarding that group that suddenly appeared and swept their pasture with thunderous force, these uninvited guests, besides the anger of being offended, they also felt a hint of unknown wariness.
Just then.
A black shadow silently coalesced at the center of the Seven Great Ancient Gods.
It was a man wearing a large black robe, his hood covering his face, revealing only a slice of pallid chin.
He stood there silently, clearly emitting no aura, yet as if he were the center of this divine kingdom, even the surrounding law-light bands deliberately flowed around him.
"Envoy, you have arrived."
"You're a bit late this time."
If this scene were transmitted to the eyes of the humans of the Twilight Divine Realm, they would surely be shocked.
When have they ever seen these lofty ancient gods treat an obviously human person with such kindness, even showing a bit of... respect and flattery.
Exactly, it's flattery.
"Several Divine Lords, there's no need to panic."
The black-clad man nodded to several ancient gods, his voice hoarse yet calm, as if stating a trivial matter: "Just a flock of lost sheep that wandered in here unintentionally."
"Envoy, do you know their origin?" the Storm Ancient God asked.
"I know a little."
The black-clad man slightly nodded, slashed the void, and a new image unfolded before everyone.
In the image, indeed leading were Gu Linjiang, Gu Xuan Ce, and Jiang Rou, with other Supremes as support.
"They come from another, higher world; at their forefront are three Heavenly Emperors, whose strength equals that of each Divine Lord, and they command over a dozen Supremes, also constituting a not-insignificant force."
The Seven Gods found nothing strange about the black-clad envoy's words regarding another world and the Heavenly Emperor realm.
They knew that the Heavenly Emperor realm is an external appellation, roughly on par with them.
"Heavenly Emperor?"
The Lord of the White Bones snorted coldly, "So what? In this Twilight Divine Realm, we are heaven and dao; three Heavenly Emperors are merely three Ancient God-level beings, and they still want to stir up waves in our domain?"
"Exactly so."
The black-clad man expressed agreement,
"Just a bunch of newcomers who know nothing of this realm's laws, foolish creatures.
However, their flesh and souls would surely be excellent supplements for each Divine Lord. Especially their world, which seems different from this one; if we could trace causality back there, perhaps..."
The black-clad man did not continue, but the temptation in his words made the Seven Great Ancient Gods' breathing grow heavy.
Devouring another world!
What a grand blueprint!
The followers of the Twilight Divine Realm have long been divided up by the Seven Gods.
If they could have a greater territory.
These Ancient Gods might not be unable to go further!
"What plan do you have?" the Molten Rock Ancient God asked in a deep, resonant voice.
"Very simple."
The black-clad man spread his hands, a map of the Twilight Divine Realm composed of light and shadow unfolding in his palm,
"They are currently in the White Bones Wasteland; likely they will ultimately march toward your divinity, Lord of the White Bones."
He looked toward the Lord of the White Bones, his tone carrying a hint of amusement.
"Rather than that, it would be better to take the initiative: you three—Lord of the White Bones, Storm Divine Lord, and Resentful Spirit Divine Lord—lead twenty evil gods to go and utterly exterminate them."
The Lord of the White Bones did not answer immediately; his gaze lingered on the black-clad man for a long time, as if trying to see through the truth beneath that black robe.
But in the end, he still gave up.
"Very well."
His cold intention sounded,
"We'll do as you said. Their souls, belong to me."
"Their flesh and blood, belong to me." The Vengeful Soul Goddess licked the lips formed by countless arms.
"I demand the law." The Storm Ancient God's voice was domineering.
The Three Ancient Gods reached a consensus, their majestic silhouettes slowly became ethereal and vanished into the Supreme Heaven.
Immediately thereafter, among the Thirty‑six Evil Gods, twenty powerful auras were summoned from their respective domains, turning into twenty streams of light that followed the Three Ancient Gods.
Although they might not win.
But on their own turf.
At least a clean retreat is guaranteed.
It also serves to test the strength of these newcomers.
If they are weak… then the next time will be an all‑out war of the Seven Gods!
Supreme Heaven fell silent again, and the Four Ancient Gods and the Man in Black dispersed.
The Man in Black appeared alone in a void space.
He slowly removed his hood, revealing a face so pale it bore no trace of blood.
"Strange, this Twilight Divine Realm is my jurisdiction, and the surrounding spatial coordinates are concealed; how did these people get in?"
He muttered to himself, a hint of confusion flashing in his eyes.
"I have spent hundreds of thousands of years gradually shaping this world from the influence of the magical realm to its current state; only the final step remains, and I can steer the world toward collapse, completing the plan. At this critical juncture, don't give me any trouble, lest the Lord blame me…"
The Man in Black shook his head.
"Forget it, it doesn't matter; as long as the Immortal King doesn't intervene, everything remains within the plan."
"Almost… almost…"
He lifted his head, his gaze seeming to pierce endless spacetime, seeing world after world marching toward destruction, a morbid fervor flashing in his eyes.
As his emotions fluctuated, a terrifying aura far surpassing that of the Heavenly Emperor flashed from his body and vanished.
True Immortal Realm!
