Chapter 277: When Gods Fight
Ji Xiang did not speak, but stared fixedly at the patient, his eyes not blinking once.
Bai Chuzhang did not retreat; instead, he stepped forward and grabbed at the air above the patient.
There was nothing there, just empty air.
However, it seemed the movement of the existence in the void was interrupted by Bai Chuzhang, and the patient struggled a few times before returning to "normal."
Liu Zhuren pulled Bai Chuzhang back; he wanted to say something, but in the end, he didn't.
Bai Chuzhang had not touched "anything," and stood before the patient, frowning in thought.
But while there was no "thing," the blue sterile drape on the patient's body once again pitched a tent.
20 seconds later, the previous situation happened again.
But this time it was different from the last; the liquid sprayed out was more like blood.
Bai Chuzhang sighed deeply, staring blankly at the mess on the floor, feeling very distressed.
As a clinically trained doctor with solid technical skills, one would not ponder tales of gods and ghosts.
But!
The patient was having an incident right under his nose, yet he had no ideas at all; this undoubtedly made Bai Chuzhang feel that he was very useless.
Besides that, there was a sense of guilty fear.
The Cardiac Monitor beeped steadily; the sound was calm, and except for the peak periods, the heart rate was level, the oxygen saturation was fine, and the Electrocardiogram was even regular.
If one only looked at the Cardiac Monitor, Bai Chuzhang believed the patient had no problems at all.
He watched the Cardiac Monitor silently; the end of time seemed like a black hole, filled with fishy-smelling fresh blood and the patient's life.
And he, as a Doctor, knew nothing, not even having the most basic judgment.
Ji Xiang witnessed the patient's condition with his own eyes, and suddenly had a very bold idea—Empathy.
But the System NPC directly rejected Ji Xiang's request.
No matter what Ji Xiang said, the System NPC would not agree. His reason was that Empathy belonged to the digitization and concretization of memory fragments, and no similar modeling existed in the database.
Ji Xiang pestered him, but the System NPC gave him no chance at all and kicked Ji Xiang out directly.
Looking at the patient, Ji Xiang was just as distressed as Bai Chuzhang.
Even the cheat was useless; the patient... this must be certain death, right?
No wonder the system gave such a task; Ji Xiang looked at the task bar with resentment, the system hadn't even given a single hint.
A chaotic sound of footsteps came from the corridor.
Bai Chuzhang narrowed his eyes, "Liu Zhuren, watch the patient here."
After saying this, he turned and walked out.
"Sun Yuanzhang!" Bai Chuzhang's voice came.
Liu Zhuren walked forward a few steps, stood in front of the patient, and whispered to Ji Xiang, "It's probably the Patient's Family Member. Their family has great influence. Sun Yuanzhang came with the family. You stand to the side and watch; don't intervene if you can help it."
"Uh..."
"These people are troublesome, if there's the slightest issue... Xiao Ji, do you think it's haunted?" Liu Zhuren asked a question that didn't sound like one a Doctor would ask, suppressing the fear in his heart.
"I don't think so," Ji Xiang replied.
Liu Zhuren didn't speak, just stared blankly at the patient.
Not haunted?
The patient's repeated congestion, gushing, blood color, and eerie smile—Liu Zhuren could not explain these at all.
In all these years of Clinical work, Liu Zhuren had been through many battles, and no disease in the Urology Department matched the patient's symptoms.
The footsteps drew closer, and the noise outside gradually quieted down, like a receding tide.
Two young men in suits opened the door to the Emergency Rescue Room, and an old man in his fifties with a glowing, ruddy complexion strode in.
Bai Chuzhang and Sun Yuanzhang followed behind, looking bewildered. Beside them was a middle-aged woman crying uncontrollably; judging by the situation, she should be the patient's mother.
"Let this old man try." The robust, ruddy-faced old man's voice was like a bell; he stepped forward and placed his hand directly on the patient's arm.
Liu Zhuren pushed backward, pulling Ji Xiang along, trying his best to move away from the patient with steps others wouldn't notice.
Ji Xiang was stubborn and wanted to stay in front, but Liu Zhuren's voice was extremely low, "Be careful, when gods fight, mortals suffer."
As he spoke, his hand gripped Ji Xiang's arm tightly and pulled him back.
His earnest care was evident, and Ji Xiang didn't persist, retreating 4.2 meters with Liu Zhuren.
Just as they stood steady, the patient's body suddenly twisted, as if someone were grabbing their hair and stepping on their back.
"Hm?" The ruddy-faced old man was surprised; he didn't move, but closed his eyes to focus, raising both hands.
Ji Xiang vaguely felt the air currents moving; this old man seemed to have some methods.
"Master, save my child..."
The woman wailed, but was immediately pulled away by someone.
The ruddy-faced old man made no move; his hands were frozen in mid-air, looking slightly bewildered.
And that nameless existence was extremely arrogant, more arrogant than at any time before.
Ji Xiang keenly noticed the patient frowning, the corners of their mouth turning down, and their lips curling into a "bitter smile."
A familiar expression!
Ji Xiang's heart tightened.
The patient's expression was very stiff, as if it wasn't the patient themselves "smiling," but another existence perched on them, provoking the ruddy-faced old man.
Is this what it means when gods fight?
Ji Xiang focused; the old man made no move at all, as if he had been petrified, completely lacking the posture of an exorcist in Ji Xiang's consciousness.
However!
The next second!
The Patient's arm lifted up.
In the darkness, a force struck his arm.
Crack!
A crisp sound.
Left forearm deformity, ulnar and radial fracture!
Holy crap! Ji Xiang was shocked and turned pale.
The things he held onto were shaken in this instant.
Watching with his own eyes, apart from that ruddy-faced old man with his hands in mid-air,
Absolutely!
Absolutely!!
Absolutely!!!
No one touched the Patient at all!!!!
Yet his ulna and radius just snapped like that.
Liu Zhuren beside Ji Xiang suddenly collapsed, and Ji Xiang hurriedly supported him.
Liu Zhuren pointed his finger at the Patient, unable to say a single word.
The Patient's mother witnessed this scene and fainted on the spot.
The temperature in the Emergency Rescue Room seemed to drop by 5 degrees Celsius instantly, and even Ji Xiang felt a bone-chilling cold.
The cold beeping of the Cardiac Monitor began to grow chaotic, turning the changes in the Patient's physical condition into data to tell everyone present.
What on earth happened!
No one knew; Ji Xiang stared blankly at the Patient, feeling bewildered in his heart.
One minute later, the bloody fluid the Patient sprayed out decreased, but the color was thicker.
Everything indicated that things were sliding toward the most irredeemable abyss.
The Patient quieted down, as if nothing had happened, only the deformity of his left ulnar and radial fracture remained, recounting the eerie horror from just a moment ago.
"Master Dong." A middle-aged man ignored the fear in his heart and leaned toward the ruddy-faced old man.
"Strange, I didn't sense any evil spirits." The ruddy-faced old man said in confusion.
The deformity of the Patient's ulnar and radial fracture seemed to mock him silently,
Right there,
Not far,
Not near,
Within reach,
Yet as far away as the horizon.
