Chapter 337: Is This Still a Student?
The two Standardized Training Students were already dumbfounded.
Turning an examination room into a consultation room with the examinee acting as the doctor is a scenario that has happened before, but the Expert judges pretending to be Patients were more serious than the last, with questions more numerous than the previous. They were like nagging mothers, as if they wanted to dump every difficult Patient they had encountered in their lives onto the examinee.
But today, things were different; the Expert judges were too immersed—how did it seem like the identities of doctor and Patient, teacher and student, had truly been swapped?
"Doctor Xiao Ji, did you guess it just because I kept rubbing my eyes and didn't like the smell of eggs?"
"More or less. I could roughly guess it from the Patient's Electrocardiogram and the details of your behavior. But it was just a guess; besides, you said you already gave me full marks, didn't you?" Ji Xiang said with a chuckle.
"Tsk, tsk."
Several Expert judges clicked their tongues in wonder.
To judge what happened a few days ago based on just a few clues was, one could say, quite incredible.
"Li Zhuren, this is really..." One person shook their head, a smile on their lips.
"I didn't mean to intentionally make things difficult for Doctor Xiao Ji." Li Zhuren felt a bit embarrassed and began to defend himself, "I haven't been feeling well lately, my eyes are uncomfortable, so perhaps it was a subconscious act to bring that Patient's Electrocardiogram along."
As he spoke, Li Zhuren rubbed his eyes again, looking somewhat distressed.
"Teacher, you should hurry and take your medication," Ji Xiang said. "Although it's not a major issue, there are still aftereffects, so it's better to be careful."
"Right." Li Zhuren stood up. "You all go ahead with your work; I'm going to get my prescription. My eyes are truly too uncomfortable."
Mo Chenggui was speechless.
He looked at Ji Xiang with slight astonishment; having witnessed Ji Xiang's growth over the past few months, this speed was simply too fast.
What he knew, Ji Xiang also knew; what he didn't know, Ji Xiang still knew.
By comparison, Ji Xiang seemed more like the Attending Teacher.
"Doctor Xiao Ji, when I'm better, I'll come to the Second Affiliated Hospital to find you for a meal. You must come," Li Zhuren urged hurriedly as he left.
The two Standardized Training Students heard Li Zhuren's words and watched him leave, their faces blank.
"So, can I go now?" Ji Xiang asked tentatively.
"Go get busy," Mo Chenggui said.
Ji Xiang stood up, bowed deeply, and left politely.
"Mo, did this kid say he was picked by you as soon as he arrived at the Second Affiliated Hospital? Since when did you have such good judgment?" one person asked.
"It was Wang Daxiao who found him. We've performed a few surgeries together, and Doctor Xiao Ji's improvement is very fast," Mo Chenggui gave a very moderate evaluation.
"Impressive, impressive!"
"I've heard of the provincial surgery competition. It's said that Gu Lao denied his own student the gold medal and awarded it to Doctor Xiao Ji. Is that true?"
"Yes. Xiao Ji didn't intend to... Hahaha, after all, he is a Standardized Training Doctor, so it would be too flashy to participate. But Bai Chuzhang pulled the laparoscopic footage and entered him into the competition. It could be considered an unintentional success."
This statement left the others not knowing what to say.
An unintentional success, and he snatched the gold medal from Gu Lao's Closed-door disciple; if he had actually intended to, what would that be like?
The three walked out of the examination room, and the examinees outside were already feeling somewhat impatient.
This group had been delayed for too long, and one of the chief Expert judges had left in a hurry, so no one knew what had happened.
"What happened inside?"
"Why did it take so long? What happened?"
"The chief teacher didn't intentionally make things difficult for you, did he?"
Everyone asked.
Ji Xiang smiled and left in silence, while the other two Standardized Training Students were surrounded and asked countless questions.
The two were dazed for a moment, then briefly described what had happened inside.
The crowd of Standardized Training Students listened in stunned silence.
Was this an exam? Or a medical consultation?
"Damn, no way, the teacher was even diagnosed?"
"It's possible. When I was an intern, I saw a carbon monoxide poisoning Patient with my teacher. The teacher said the symptoms were similar to hydrogen sulfide poisoning, but hydrogen sulfide poisoning is rarer and usually common in chemical plants."
"Are the doctors and Nurses who rescue a hydrogen sulfide poisoning Patient in danger?"
The Standardized Training Students chatted wildly.
They didn't know much; being able to take a look with an Attending Teacher during their internship was already a lot.
Because they had little Clinical experience, their discussion about the hydrogen sulfide poisoning case leaned more toward gossip, and by the end, they had forgotten about the Expert judge who went to get medicine.
But the other Expert judges would not forget.
After the assessment, Mo Chenggui exchanged a few polite words with the other experts and left on his own. He usually didn't talk much, the exact opposite of Wang Daxiao.
Arriving at the parking lot, Mo Chenggui saw Wang Daxiao leaning against his car, smoking.
"Why are you here?" Mo Chenggui asked, puzzled.
"No surgeries, and I was thinking about Doctor Xiao Ji," Wang Daxiao chuckled sheepishly. "I knew it was just a skills test and you were the proctor, so he would definitely get full marks. But I felt uneasy, so I came back."
"Heh."
"Whenever you 'heh', it's definitely nothing good."
Mo Chenggui would barely move his backside, and Wang Daxiao would already know what he was up to.
"Hurry up, who caused trouble?" Seeing Mo Chenggui's constipated expression, Wang Daxiao knew there must have been a complication and urged him anxiously, "Which bastard was it! Have they no shame, using this kind of thing as a question for the Practicing Physician Examination? I'll go to their house and curse them!"
"Li Zhuren from the First Affiliated Hospital brought an Electrocardiogram for Xiao Ji to look at."
"People in the Circulatory Internal Medicine Department can't even understand difficult heart traces, what was he thinking!" Wang Daxiao had already started to stand up for Ji Xiang.
"It wasn't like that." Mo Chenggui briefly explained what happened.
"Old geezer!" Wang Daxiao wasn't surprised at all. After listening to Mo Chenggui, he said triumphantly, "Is Doctor Xiao Ji someone he can make things difficult for? See! He could guess there was a problem without being told anything."
"Hydrogen sulfide, have you ever rescued someone from that?" Mo Chenggui asked.
"No, I am a standard Andrology Doctor; that kind of rough work has nothing to do with me." Wang Daxiao rubbed his own head, which was shiny and oily.
He wiped his hand on his trousers, "Mo, isn't Xiao Ji just too awesome?"
"Yes, I still haven't processed it even now," Mo Chenggui sighed, "Patients with hydrogen sulfide poisoning are very rare around here, so it's normal for Li Zhuren to feel unwell after the emergency rescue; the protection wasn't in place, and there was no awareness."
"How did Xiao Ji know?" Wang Daxiao stated Mo Chenggui's final conclusion.
"Right."
"Corpus Cavernosum puncture, Giant Hydronephrosis, partial Kidney Resection—you saw it all with your own eyes."
Mo Chenggui was speechless; Wang Daxiao took a deep drag of his cigarette, pausing for a full five seconds before exhaling. The mouthful of smoke seemed to be completely absorbed by him, not a single drop remaining.
"Get used to it, just get used to it," Wang Daxiao said, "I knew he was very capable at the time, but I didn't expect him to be this capable."
"It was just a Practicing Certificate to begin with, I didn't think Xiao Ji wouldn't be able to pass it. But now..." Mo Chenggui smiled, "Why am I becoming more and more expectant?"
