Chapter 473: Year-end single chapter, let us look forward

~8 min read 1,447 words

Year-end single chapter, let us look forward.

Year-end single chapter, let us look forward.

Another year-end has arrived.

Yesterday, a friend in the group chat posted a photo from a New Year's Eve party between 2019 and 2020; that was the warmest gathering we ever had, and then we went to Shanghai for the annual meeting.

After that, the pandemic began.

Yesterday is like the eastward flowing water; we cannot go back, we can only reminisce.

I just measured my temperature, 36.0°C; let me take advantage of having a little strength to write a single chapter.

First, let me briefly talk about this ill-fated book.

I started the book on August 18th, and on August 20th, the city where I am located began the strictest and longest lockdown in three years.

How should I put it? It can be described as lingering.

It never gets better; there are always cases in the community (looking at the words "community cases" now, I feel dazed), and the messy business of sneaking across the great plains on little electric scooters is endless.

And then we arrived at the present.

I won't say much about this period; let us look forward.

Yes, we must look forward; all kinds of negative emotions are meaningless to us now.

Previously, I made observations of positive patients in the makeshift hospitals and accumulated a certain amount of data. However, looking at my observational data now, it is absurd.

Let us look forward; I will share my experience. If there is a reference, use it; if you think it is not good, do not scold me. After all, this is a time when even a male patient can be admitted to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department; I hope everyone can stay healthy and pull through.

First, let us talk about Western medicine.

It is said that the Pfizer miracle drug is useful; elderly people have very mild symptoms after taking it orally, but that is only hearsay. Here in my city, there were only 20 boxes of the miracle drug issued in March; I have never seen them, so this is for reference only.

Ursodeoxycholic acid (Ursofalk), I found the original text and read it at the same time the journal *Nature* published that article. It seems to make sense, yet I feel something is strange; the writing format is slightly sloppy, giving me a feeling of great haste.

Gehirn in the group has been taking Ursofalk orally; recently, they have been taking care of family members who tested positive, and they are still testing negative. The sample size is small, so I do not know if it is significant; I am still observing.

Ursofalk is also an old drug, with relatively few and minor side effects; it looks quite good. If Gehirn does not develop a fever, I would like to try it too.

Furthermore, pay attention here.

Let me interject some background first.

My mother-in-law was the first in the family to get a fever; after all, she still had to buy groceries. I told the elderly how to take precautions, but... *cough cough*... everyone understands the execution capability of the elderly.

My mother-in-law's fever broke after 3 days, but she was only fever-free for 1 day, and then she had a low-grade fever every night. She took medicine to break the fever, and it did not look too serious. I felt something was wrong and took her to the hospital for a check-up.

Sure enough!

A small amount of Pneumonia in the lower right lung!

At that time, we formulated a treatment plan: first take Levofloxacin orally; if there is no effect in 36 hours, switch to an IV drip; if that still does not work, then use Avelox.

Yes, we could not get admitted to the hospital; there was absolutely no chance, we had to wait in line. Tapping my fingers, feeling helpless.

Fortunately, the effect of oral Levofloxacin was quite good; my mother-in-law stopped having a fever that same day, and it did not recur afterward.

Here, I suggest that all you book friends prepare some relevant medicine at home. The most basic Levofloxacin should be on hand. If you can buy the one-board-three-tablet kind of Avelox (Bayer), buy two boxes. I cannot buy it here anymore; they say it is not being delivered.

Better safe than sorry; it is best if it can sit until it expires.

If there really is a problem, taking Avelox orally while waiting for a hospital bed is also good.

If you argue that taking quinolone drugs for viral pneumonia is useless, then I have no way to help; *shrugs, spreads hands*.

The last point, Kangfuxin Liquid has a very good effect on the "swallowing blades" sensation. It is not for oral ingestion, but for gargling, that gurgling way, allowing the Kangfuxin Liquid to have sufficient contact with the throat.

Periplaneta americana—many people dislike it and would rather swallow blades than swallow cockroach juice. Fine, this is a small matter; it is not as serious as pneumonia.

Now let us talk about Traditional Chinese Medicine.

I do not know much about Traditional Chinese Medicine. Book friends who have followed along from *Shouzhu Zhibo Jian* might remember my mental journey regarding Traditional Chinese Medicine, so I will not elaborate here.

This time, I developed a fever quite late; I had chills and fever in the early morning of the 29th.

I had heard of and seen the symptoms of friends and colleagues around me before, so I kept experimenting on myself.

Before the fever, Gua Sha showed nothing abnormal, but I just felt a chill entangled in my body; it could also be described as lingering (I see the word "lingering" again). I tried every possible way, but I could not get it out. Although it is somewhat metaphysical, I really did try it.

Later, the Dazhui and Fengmen areas had spasms in the middle of the night, waking me up in pain for 3-4 days, and that chill never came out.

I had a fever for 12 hours, and my head felt like it was splitting. At this time, Gua Sha and cupping showed obvious large hives and purple bruises. After doing that, my whole person felt better; I, who could not eat a meal half an hour ago, ate a large plate of egg fried rice, feeling refreshed and clear-headed.

Later, I tried it on my wife, who had a fever for 4 days, and my mother-in-law, who had one for 10 days; the longer the illness, the deeper the severity of the Gua Sha and cupping marks.

My mother-in-law was supposed to have recovered, but the cupping pulled out purple-black cupping marks and large hives.

Regardless of the length of the illness, what was the same was that water droplets could be pulled out, and after the operation, everyone felt refreshed and clear-headed.

I do not know acupuncture, so I did not try it; book friends who have tried it, please share in the chapter comments. It is said that acupuncture on the Dazhui point is useful for severe coughing.

My experience is that several acupoints like Dazhui, Fengmen, and Tianzong are relatively important, especially the Tianzong point.

Writing to this point, I am starting to feel exhausted, so tired. My Spirit is very good, and I do not know if it is because I have read too many descriptions of symptoms and developed hypochondria, or if it is because I have not recovered yet.

Let us stop the rambling here.

Everything mentioned above is my own little bit of experience; this illness is somewhat evil, everyone please be extra careful.

The prototype of Lin Daoshi, that Daoist priest, told me about reversing something and that things like the Small Heavenly Circuit should be useful when I communicated with him, but I do not know how.

Seeing that he is still posting on his Moments, carefree every day, I am very envious.

Let me say a few of my own insignificant thoughts—complaining is meaningless, look forward, all you book friends, take good care of yourselves and your families.

Finally, double points at the end of the month, asking for monthly tickets, asking for subscriptions. For the end of the month and tomorrow's 2023 New Year's Day, thank you everyone.

There is no extra update, I am very embarrassed to ask.

I made full preparations beforehand, including about 5-6 days of pre-written chapters for automatic updates; I think it can last until I finish proofreading and uploading.

I hope everything gets better.

I do not have the strength to bow, my waist hurts a bit. Sending hugs to everyone, take care.
