Chapter 589: Making a Wedding Dress for Someone Else?
This segment is merely an interlude.
The subsequent morning handover and ward rounds were standard; Lin Jiuze did not speak, following Li Ming, Li Zhuren, the whole time like a junior clinical Doctor.
In the following segments, such as the Medical Record, Lin Jiuze's performance was also very ordinary.
He neither showed a side of ignorance like Zhao Mengmeng, nor did he hog the limelight like Ji Xiang.
His presence was not high; one could even say his presence was extremely low.
If it weren't for the production team constantly using external force to turn the camera lens back, he probably wouldn't have even appeared on screen many times.
Regarding this point, the audience in front of the screens did not notice anything.
Watching Lin Jiuze through the program, that kind of "transparent" quality did not appear.
"This person looks very ordinary." Liu Zhuren seemed to heave a sigh of relief.
"Heh, Dazhi, do you really think so?" Bai Chuzhang asked.
"At the very least, he looks very ordinary right now."
"Qin Chu arranged it well, sending Lin Jiuze to the Interventional Department. My understanding is that since Lin Jiuze's teacher has a good relationship with Qin Chu, the two of them likely specialize primarily in the interventional discipline."
"Here, he can exert the greatest effect."
"Interventional Surgery, can he do better than Xiao Ji?! Impossible, absolutely impossible," Liu Zhuren said with disdain.
"You hold Xiao Ji in too high regard," Bai Chuzhang said. "There are so many heroes in the world; Ji Xiang is only a fledgling greenhorn."
"I don't believe it!" Liu Zhuren said.
The boring part of the program lasted only about 3 minutes, simply summarizing and concluding a Doctor's daily routine.
These routines had already been shown in previous episodes, so not too much time was wasted.
Only one detail made Liu Zhuren's hands go cold.
The attitude of Li Zhuren, from the Interventional Department of the Affiliated Hospital, toward Lin Jiuze had undergone a slight change.
Before entering the operating room, Li Zhuren was still maintaining the airs of a head director of the Affiliated Hospital; it was hard to say if it was politeness or the respect due in a program, but in any case, it carried a sense of estrangement and distance.
It wasn't as enthusiastic or close as when he met Ji Xiang; it was very clear that Li Zhuren knew the figure of Qin Chu was looming behind Lin Jiuze.
But after the surgery was finished, the look Li Zhuren gave Lin Jiuze carried a hint of awe.
Although he always intentionally or unintentionally forgot about Lin Jiuze, the flickering of his gaze every time he looked at Lin Jiuze clearly explained his inner thoughts.
"Is the surgery not being broadcast?" Liu Zhuren asked.
"Probably not," Bai Chuzhang said. "Ji Xiang performed a surgery in the Interventional Department before; the one done during the day was an elective Liver Cancer Surgery, and the production team doesn't want to repeat it."
Liu Zhuren felt slightly regretful.
He wanted to see just how strong Lin Jiuze's surgery really was.
But the production team had no similar footage; only the slight change in the attitude of Li Zhuren from the Interventional Department became a fleeting glimpse.
After the surgery, the Resident Chief of the Interventional Department explained to Lin Jiuze how to write a Medical Record.
As a professor appointed by Massachusetts General Hospital, Lin Jiuze did not resist, nor did he show any displeasure; he just listened quietly.
He had an extremely strong ability to learn, quickly adapting to the operating system of the Affiliated Hospital and truly writing Medical Records in a down-to-earth manner like an Intern.
The scene shifted, and Ji Xiang appeared.
He was also busy, busy dealing with a Patient who was vomiting blood.
The Medical Record was simple; the Patient had been transferred from the Digestive Medicine Department because they started vomiting blood after heavy drinking and induced vomiting, suggesting a stomach injury.
If the bleeding did not stop, the Gastrointestinal Surgery department would have to perform a Laparotomy. They were currently performing hemostatic treatment and strictly monitoring the Patient's vital signs.
Seeing this scene, Bai Chuzhang smiled.
Ji Xiang was really very busy; he had only been at the Affiliated Hospital for a few days and had already integrated with that side.
"Lao Bai, what did you think of?" Seeing Bai Chuzhang's strange smile, Liu Zhuren knew something was up, so he asked.
"Two things," Bai Chuzhang said. "Once, a classmate of mine came to see me and ended up drinking too much. I brought him to the hospital to have his stomach pumped, and after a few hours of hassle, I prepared to send him back to the hotel. But this guy still had some consciousness left, using his arms and legs to prop himself against the car door, refusing to get in no matter what."
"Ah!"
"He was shouting, 'I'm not going back, I want Naloxone, I want hydration.'"
"Pfft," Liu Zhuren laughed out loud. "How experienced must one be for that."
"I gave him Naloxone, and also 500 milliliters of glucose with Vitamin C added," Bai Chuzhang shook his head helplessly. "In the end, he had to stay at the hospital, and the two of us squeezed into one bed to sleep that night."
"What else?" Liu Zhuren asked.
In a hospital, there are many stories about drunks; they are countless, and Liu Zhuren just wanted to gossip a bit.
Although Lin Jiuze had an innocent appearance, Liu Zhuren subconsciously felt that he was Ji Xiang's greatest threat.
Liu Zhuren even had an inexplicable speculation in his heart—that Ji Xiang was doing the "wedding dress" work for someone else.
The popularity of the early episodes was built up by Ji Xiang, but with the appearance of Lin Jiuze, this Expert from Massachusetts General Hospital would step on Ji Xiang to rise to the top.
This thought made Liu Zhuren very unhappy.
And Bai Chuzhang seemed to have similar tension; the two chatted to relieve their moods.
"Another time, a manufacturer invited me to a KTV," Bai Chuzhang said.
"Get out, you've actually been to that kind of place!"
Men, after all, have to go to KTVs while struggling in society. But Liu Zhuren knew Lao Bai; he would rather spend a whole night at an internet cafe than go to a place like a KTV.
"No choice, it's the 'rivers and lakes' (the world)," Bai Chuzhang said very calmly. "The manufacturer's manager brought a few girls, and then they poured beer, red wine, and white spirits down us."
"I saw two of the girls weren't doing well and was afraid something would happen."
"What? Want to be a knight in shining armor?" Liu Zhuren looked at Bai Chuzhang with a smile.
"I was simply afraid of having to send two disheveled girls to the hospital for stomach pumping in the middle of the night while smelling of alcohol. I wouldn't know how the hospital would spread the rumors the next day."
"And then?" Liu Zhuren asked. "How did you persuade them?"
"I was just an extra; there were several big shots going along, and I couldn't say a word. Even if I did, no one would listen," Bai Chuzhang said indifferently. "I secretly queued up 'The Internationale'."
"'The Internationale'?"
"Heh." Bai Chuzhang let out a laugh. "You didn't see it, but when the powerful and resonant sound of 'The Internationale' came through the KTV, those big shots sobered up instantly, and the entire drinking party became dull and flavorless."
"..." Liu Zhuren was stunned for a moment.
His age was a few years off from 'The Internationale', but for that group of big shots in their fifties or around sixty, their feelings toward 'The Internationale' were completely different.
Lao Bai really is a genius, damn it; to think he could come up with such an idea.
"The gathering broke up very quickly, and no one had the nerve to pursue who exactly queued 'The Internationale'," Bai Chuzhang smiled slightly. "It's a KTV, after all; there wouldn't be surveillance, would there? Even if there were, I just slipped up; it wouldn't matter if it came out."
"Impressive!"
Liu Zhuren praised him.
While the two were chatting, suddenly Miao Zong from Gastrointestinal Surgery shouted, "Doctor Ji Xiang, prepare for resuscitation!"
