Chapter 757: Lost 40 Jin
The pants were soaked, so there was no way to go to work, and Ji Xiang wasn't sure if more untrustworthy "farts" would appear.
He had no choice but to ask for leave and go home.
Ji Xiang was there to practice Empathy, and his mindset was even better than that of a zero-zero worker preparing to quit.
Making a phone call was just a matter of politeness; as for whether the other party agreed or not, Ji Xiang didn't care.
Back home, Ji Xiang hand-washed his underwear himself and carefully observed the sensation of taking Orlistat orally.
The rumbling in his stomach didn't seem to have anything to do with the Orlistat; he was likely just hungry.
The matter of leaking oil...
Ji Xiang knew the expression "rich enough to leak oil."
But when he was actually leaking oil himself, he didn't find it very interesting.
After changing his underwear, Ji Xiang no longer trusted a single fart.
While exercising, he cautiously guarded against every malicious fart.
However.
It was completely useless.
After a full day, when Ji Xiang took a shower in the evening, he saw that his underwear was still stained with a lot of oil.
It was truly distressing; Ji Xiang sighed, but a smile appeared on his face.
At the very least, it proved that the Orlistat Capsule was effective, and the fat-excreting effect was quite good. He hadn't forgotten his original intention: he needed to lose weight, reduce fat, control his Fatty Liver, and then donate his liver to his daughter.
A long-term goal is a long-term goal, but what should be done now?
I wash my underwear three times a day?
Suddenly, Ji Xiang had a flash of inspiration and padded himself with a sanitary napkin.
Clean, comfortable, super absorbent.
Those advertising slogans appeared in Ji Xiang's mind.
As good as his word, Ji Xiang immediately put on a sanitary napkin. Although it felt a bit awkward, Ji Xiang finally felt at ease.
This was the first time Ji Xiang had experienced the situation of leaking oil, and he felt somewhat anxious and uneasy. But with the help of the sanitary napkin, Ji Xiang still managed to get a good night's sleep.
He had once heard a teacher say that there were many blood-stained sanitary napkins in the men's restroom of the Anorectal Department, and he had taken it as a joke at the time; he never expected that he would have a day where he would use one himself.
As long as it works, it's fine.
The next day, Ji Xiang exercised in the morning and brought sanitary napkins in his bag to work.
When squeezing onto the subway, Ji Xiang finally didn't have to worry.
The side effects of the Orlistat Capsule were very obvious, but the effects were equally obvious.
Perhaps it wasn't the right remedy for someone who rarely ate meat and mainly ate carbohydrates, but the current Ji Xiang really needed this stuff.
One month later, on the basis of maintaining his initial weight loss results, Ji Xiang had lost another 15 jin.
He was thinner and much more energetic; Ji Xiang worked hard to ensure he was in the best possible state to welcome the Liver Transplantation.
But Ji Xiang encountered difficulties in his subsequent weight loss.
It was always easy at the beginning, but the further he went, the harder it became.
"He who travels one hundred miles finds the halfway point at ninety," the ancients were right.
Ji Xiang was not discouraged, but instead persisted with unremitting efforts.
Three months later, Ji Xiang received a message from the Doctor.
After three courses of Interventional Surgery, his father's Tumor had shrunk significantly, and after a consultation with doctors in Shanghai, he was prepared for a Split Liver Transplantation. (Author's Note)
Ji Xiang also told the Doctor about his own weight loss journey.
Perhaps his own experience told the Doctor that he would pass these experiences on to the next person in need at the right time and place.
Experiencing a world of Empathy, Ji Xiang gained some enlightenment regarding this special mode of cultivation.
But the feeling was complicated, and Ji Xiang didn't think too much about it, instead continuing to lose weight.
More than a month later, Ji Xiang saw the Doctor asking for blood on social media, specifically for a designated donation in Shanghai; he figured it must be for his father's surgery.
Ji Xiang couldn't donate blood right now, so he didn't ask further, only silently offering his blessings, wishing for that Doctor's father to get better soon.
After another period of time, Ji Xiang had lost a full 40 jin; his whole body was much more proportionate, and even his abdominal muscles had emerged.
When he went to see the Expert performing the transplant, the Expert was also startled.
Losing 40 jin in such a short time, this was terrifying.
"Do you have any depressive tendencies?" After looking at the lab reports, the Expert deemed the surgery possible, but asked a strange question.
"No, everything is great."
"That's good." The Expert let out a breath, seemingly relieved.
"Teacher, is there a connection between weight loss and depression?" Ji Xiang asked.
"I've had people around me who lost weight very quickly, and from my observations, some of them developed depressive tendencies. There's no theoretical basis for it, I was just asking."
Ji Xiang raised his arm and struck a pose to show how robust he was.
"It's fine, my physical and mental state are in great shape!"
The surgery was scheduled, and on the night before, Ji Xiang held his child, his heart filled with complex emotions.
He didn't even know exactly what he was thinking; he had endured countless hardships over these past few months, but it was all worth it.
Regardless of whether the surgery would be successful, at the very least, his efforts had bought the child a chance.
Ji Xiang didn't think about things like "the pitiful heart of all parents"; he only felt inner peace. Even if he were to have his liver cut tomorrow, Ji Xiang was not afraid, anxious, or uneasy.
The next day, Ji Xiang carried his child to the operating room.
The nurses and doctors in the operating room knew about the situation and showed great kindness toward Ji Xiang, speaking in gentle, soft voices.
However, Ji Xiang refused interviews from news media; the key was that they weren't paying, they were just there to join in the excitement.
Placing the child on the operating table, Ji Xiang bowed one by one to the surgeon, the Anesthesia doctor, the Circulating Nurse, and the Instrument Nurse.
Everything was understood without words.
He said nothing else; a deep bow was enough to express his emotions.
Furthermore, Ji Xiang knew that although he had not given any red envelopes, both the doctors and the Nurses would do their utmost to complete the Surgical Operation.
Lying on the operating table, Ji Xiang saw the Anesthesia doctor's smile.
Toward this father who had lost 40 jin in weight over the past few months, everyone tried their best to provide the greatest warmth and respect.
Ji Xiang returned a smile, and the mask was fastened on.
Immediately, Ji Xiang "fell asleep."
With a flash of light, when Ji Xiang opened his eyes again, he was already back in the System Operating Room.
"Teacher, the surgery must have been a success, right?" Ji Xiang asked impatiently after returning.
"Of course," the System NPC said with a chuckle, "it wasn't some monumental surgery."
"For an infant, a Liver Transplantation is a very major surgery." Ji Xiang refuted the System NPC for the first time.
Concern leads to chaos.
Through these months of Empathy, Ji Xiang had undergone a great change, to the point that he had begun to contradict the System NPC in his urgency upon returning.
"You did very well," the System NPC said, looking at Ji Xiang.
"That's what it means to be a parent," Ji Xiang smiled.
"Is it?" the System NPC asked in return.
Ji Xiang suddenly thought of Zhao Zhe's ex-wife and her family.
It seemed that not all parents would act this way; the world was still very complex, and all kinds of people existed.
With this thought, Ji Xiang felt somewhat relieved.
……
Note: An old Patient from 2017, whose Tumor was about 12cm in diameter when first admitted. After 6 surgical treatments, the Patient went to Shanghai for a split-liver Surgical Operation.
During a post-operative follow-up, the Old Man was in robust health and undergoing regular check-ups.
He is still with us today, which can be considered a relatively perfect ending.
By the way, the doctor who requested the Liver Transplantation for the old gentleman is my friend; his father also recovered after an Interventional Surgery, and it has been about eleven years now, he is still here and in good health.
