Chapter 216: Sword Escape

Yuan Yao slipped out quickly while the demon tribe soldiers were changing guard.

Liu Xueyi saw her departing figure and suddenly remembered: the City-Protection Array of Empty Moon City was still active, how could she leave Empty Moon City?

Just as he was uncertain—

Yuan Yao was already heading toward the city gate of Empty Moon City.

The patrolling demon tribe soldiers suddenly saw a white silhouette flash before them, their hearts startled, and they quickly looked at each other.

"Did any of you see…"

"Yes!"

"It's a human! Give chase!"

In an instant, several patrol squads pursued Yuan Yao's direction.

"Stop her quickly!" demon tribe soldiers shouted in the city.

Soon, a demon tribe soldier blocked Yuan Yao's path.

Yuan Yao swiftly took an item from her storage space and tossed it into the sky ahead!

In the night, an ancient round mirror suddenly grew huge in midair, and in an instant flames burst from it, surging like a torrent toward the demon tribe soldiers.

The firelight illuminated everything around.

The scorching heat spread instantly, and a chilling scream rang out in a moment.

The demon tribe's pupils reflected the firelight, filled with terror.

They quickly tried to defend, but by the time they recovered, the white silhouette had already vanished, and only the massive mirror kept spewing flames, scorching the surrounding houses and demon tribe to ash.

The flames grew ever brighter!

The commotion here instantly attracted other patrolling demon tribe soldiers.

Meanwhile, Yuan Yao, using her swift movements, evaded many demon tribe soldiers; when she was less than twenty meters from the city gate, she stopped and hid behind a house.

She observed the demon tribe soldiers guarding the city gate.

There should be over a hundred demon tribe soldiers.

Her gaze gradually rose as she focused her spiritual power on the City-Protection Array.

When her spiritual power touched the City-Protection Array, the barrier rippled with waves.

Yuan Yao's complexion changed slightly.

She was discovered!

At the same time, inside the lord's mansion, He Wang's eyes flashed with a faint red glow, and in an instant his body shifted and vanished on the spot.

Yuan Yao narrowed her eyes and thought, "Since I'm already discovered, I won't hold back!"

She directly attacked the barrier of the City-Protection Array with her spiritual power.

The barrier began to shake.

The soldiers at the city gate reacted instantly, letting out a startled shout, then drew their weapons and swept the surroundings cautiously.

Yuan Yao closed her eyes to sense the location of the array's eye.

And at that moment—

Yuan Yao keenly sensed a dangerous aura of power drifting from the void above.

When she looked up, the white‑haired, white‑robed He Wang had already raised his palm and slammed down toward her.

By a hair's breadth, Yuan Yao instantly dodged.

She swiftly summoned a Phantom Spirit Sword and thrust it straight toward the city gate.

He Wang snorted coldly.

With a flash, he arrived before Yuan Yao, said nothing, and raised his hand to make a vague grab at her position.

In an instant—

Yuan Yao felt an invisible massive hand clamp her whole body; her bones cracked, her organs seemed compressed, leaving her gasping for breath, with a trickle of fresh blood at the corner of her mouth.

She clenched her teeth and focused her spiritual power to attack He Wang.

He Wang, apparently prepared, also released his spiritual power.

Boom!

The two streams of spiritual power collided invisibly in midair.

In just a second, He Wang showed an incredulous expression.

This human's spiritual power was even stronger than his! Yet the human's cultivation was only at the late stage of the Foundation Establishment Realm—what was going on?

In the moment he was distracted, Yuan Yao swiftly manipulated her spiritual power to counterattack, tearing and gnawing at his spiritual power, then devouring it outright.

He Wang's pallid, gray‑tinged face showed shock; when he tried to retract his spiritual power, he found it already entangled by Yuan Yao's.

Seeing this, he immediately slammed his palm at Yuan Yao, hoping to break her devouring of his spiritual power.

Clang—

A flash of multicolored sword light passed, causing He Wang to subconsciously close his eyes.

Bad!

He Wang realized something; when he opened his eyes again, Yuan Yao's figure had vanished before him.

He instantly looked upward and saw the white‑clothed girl's Phantom Spirit Sword swell to enormous size, and she thrust it toward the hidden array eye ahead!

He Wang's complexion changed abruptly; his figure flickered as he slammed his palm toward the Phantom Spirit Sword!

With a booming "bang," most of Empty Moon City trembled from the shockwave!

He Wang succeeded in preventing Yuan Yao from breaking the barrier.

He was about to order the demon tribe soldiers to guard the array eye when a golden light suddenly surged straight toward his face.

Carrying a terrifying beast‑force pressure, it made him for a moment consider submitting beneath it.

He instinctively raised his palm to block!

After a rumbling sound, he saw clearly the source of the golden light.

It turned out to be—

A golden giant egg that had not yet cracked!

At that moment, a girl's voice rang out.

"One sword of blazing flame transforms into a wandering dragon!"

"Break!"

As the voice sounded, the girl flicked a sword; in an instant the flames surged, the blade became a dragon, and with a booming impact struck the array eye of the barrier!

Crack—

"Great Desolate Sword Method, Cross‑cut!"

Yuan Yao swung her sword to slash at the oncoming demon soldiers.

"Aaaah…"

The cries of agony continued!

The Crane King, seeing the city‑guard formation broken, felt shock and anger mingling in his heart.

A mere human in the later stage of the Foundation Establishment Realm, right under his very eyes, shattered the city‑guard formation—if this reached other demon kings, how could he keep any face?!

Therefore, she must die!

The Crane King swiftly attacked in Yuan Yao's direction.

Yuan Yao had no intention of entangling with him; the moment she broke the formation's barrier, she immediately rode her sword toward the outside of the city.

Her figure flashed by like a meteor.

She moved at incredible speed!

The golden egg and Great Sun Burning Heaven Mirror left in Empty Moon City: "…"

Fortunately, at the last moment they were both summoned back.

"Chase!" the Crane King ordered with a grim face, and immediately he gave full chase.

After Yuan Yao and the Crane King left Empty Moon City, the young cultivators hiding in the city saw the city‑guard formation broken, felt a surge of joy, and quickly used the chance to escape.

The demon soldiers naturally could not let them escape!

Thus, Empty Moon City quickly fell into chaos, with battle cries never ceasing.

Elsewhere.

Yuan Yao fled on her sword, but the Crane King pursued relentlessly.

The Crane King closed in behind her and, without hesitation, unleashed a full‑force palm strike.

Bang!

Yuan Yao could not dodge; she and her sword were blasted to the ground.

Yuan Yao fell heavily to the ground, spitting a mouthful of fresh blood; she gritted her teeth, endured the excruciating pain, and swiftly seized the Phantom Spirit Sword.

"Why is your spiritual power so strong?" the Crane King asked as he landed, his white hair fluttering in the wind, giving an eerie hue in the night.

Yuan Yao stood up, stepped back quickly, and laughed, "If you spare me, I will tell you."

The Crane King sneered, the warmth in his eyes turning cold, and he immediately attacked Yuan Yao, intending to grievously wound her and then use the Soul Search Technique.
