Chapter 35: Don't underestimate the power of water

Class time has arrived, and a few students haven't come, so we won't wait.

"The content missed by late students will be helped by other classmates during break." Zhou Zixiu tapped his watch, "I'm a person with a strong sense of time, so I hope you don't be late again."

"Next, we begin the first lesson." Zhou Zixiu's gaze swept over the students in the lecture hall, pausing momentarily on Qin Chuan without leaving a trace, then shifted, "In this lesson, we will gain a preliminary understanding of supernormal theory."

"Yesterday I introduced some of it, but that's not all."

"Supernormal theory is an applied science." Zhou Zixiu paused, "Although classifying the supernormal as science itself is rather unscientific."

Upon hearing this, the lecture hall burst into laughter.

"What is applied science?" Zhou Zixiu tapped the blackboard, opened the first slide of the teaching PPT, "Applied science is everything that starts from practical application, with practical needs guiding the direction of theoretical research."

"In short, discover the problem, solve the problem, study whatever is needed."

"Supernormal theory best exemplifies this trait." Zhou Zixiu spoke slowly, "Because the classification of supernormal theory research is divided according to attributes."

"Metal-system supernormal theory takes materials science as its core discipline; earth-system supernormal theory takes geology and civil engineering as its core disciplines; fire-system supernormal theory takes thermodynamics and chemistry as its core disciplines; wood-system supernormal theory takes botany as its core discipline…"

Xiao Pang wore an expression of anguish and slowly sat down.

"Earth-system." Xiao Pang shrank his head, but still got up honestly.

"Moreover, your requirement is not to master just one of them." Zhou Zixiu looked at everyone and smiled.

"I'm a peace-loving person." Xiao Pang muttered again in a low voice.

To learn less, is contracting a single-attribute spirit beast acceptable?

"First, you will still contract other spirit beasts later; aren't you going to contract other attributes? So naturally you need to learn the relevant knowledge of other attributes."

But this smile, in everyone's eyes, was like that of a demon.

"You might think that since you currently master one attribute of supernormal power, you only need to study its corresponding aspect."

"Good." Zhou Zixiu nodded, "After this lesson, I will check your study notes on the other eleven attributes; please take a seat now."

Amid the astonishment of everyone, Zhou Zixiu fluently listed the core disciplines corresponding to the twelve attributes, then added, "The core disciplines are not the entirety; each attribute also involves knowledge from other disciplines."

"But this idea is wrong."

"Furthermore, there's a saying: 'Know yourself and know your enemy, and you will never be defeated in a hundred battles.' Zhou Zixiu glanced at everyone, 'Mastering knowledge of various attributes allows you to handle opponents of different attributes with ease.'"

"I think contracting earth-system spirit beasts later would be quite good." Xiao Pang muttered quietly, causing Qin Chuan beside him to involuntarily twitch the corner of his mouth.

"This student, stand up." Zhou Zixiu looked at Xiao Pang with a half-smile, gesturing for him to rise, "What attribute?"

Qin Chuan couldn't help but give Xiao Pang a sympathetic look.

"Other classmates, don't whisper either." Zhou Zixiu smiled and pointed at his own ears, "My ears are quite sharp."

"In this lesson, I will introduce the relevant knowledge of each attribute, about three minutes per attribute; starting next lesson, we will go through each attribute one by one." Zhou Zixiu opened the next PPT page, "First, we introduce the lightning system."

"Students who have contracted lightning-system spirit beasts, please raise your hands."

As his words fell, in the lecture hall of over two hundred people, only seven hands were raised.

"Lightning-system spirit beasts have relatively few contractors because their activity areas are special." Zhou Zixiu spoke calmly, "The essence of lightning is electricity, which we studied in middle and high school physics."

"As long as there is a potential difference between two points, charge will move from one end to the other, forming a current."

"If the potential difference between two points remains constantly positive or negative, the direction of charge movement does not change, forming direct current."

"If the potential difference between two points rapidly switches between positive and negative, the direction of charge movement constantly changes, forming alternating current."

"Compared to direct current, alternating current conducts more easily within the human body and causes much greater harm to the body; in other words, its power is greater."

"And the current produced by lightning-system power is all alternating current."

"You've probably played with a rubber band, right?" Zhou Zixiu looked at everyone, suddenly smiled, "If you pull a taut rubber band hard and then let go, it will continuously vibrate up and down."

"The lightning-system supernormal power is that hand; it plucks the rubber band called potential."

As Zhou Zixiu's words fell, discussion quickly spread through the classroom.

Qin Chuan's eyes showed a look of surprise.

He originally thought that the Special Affairs Group sending a supernormal being to double as a supernormal theory teacher would surely not be very good at teaching, but Zhou Zixiu's simple, easy-to-understand analogy let him easily grasp the essence of lightning-system power.

"Understanding the essence of lightning-system power, we can start from the perspective of alternating current, considering how to enhance the power of lightning-system skills, how to control lightning more flexibly, for example…" Zhou Zixiu gave a few simple examples, concluding the introduction of the lightning system.

"Next, we talk about the water system." Zhou Zixiu's gaze naturally lingered on Qin Chuan for a moment, then shifted, "From a chemical perspective, water is a liquid substance composed of molecules with the formula H2O, but this is pure water, that is, pure water."

"The power of the water system is not limited to pure water."

"Experiments on water-system supernormal power show that water-system supernormals have absolute control over liquids with water content exceeding 90%."

"For liquids with water content below 90%, the control ability of water-system supernormals weakens exponentially as water content decreases; each 1% drop halves the control ability, and below 80% it becomes negligible."

"Here, water content refers to the mass ratio in the mixture."

"A mixture of 900 grams of pure water and 100 grams of any substance can be controlled by a water-system supernormal." Zhou Zixiu emphasized his words a bit, "Including substances insoluble in water."

"Because suspensions can also be controlled by the water system, making insoluble substances into suspensions by reducing particle size is not difficult."

"There is an idiom 'gentle feelings like water'; we often think water's power is weak, but adding abrasive to a water jet can easily cut diamond and high-strength alloy."

"Never underestimate the power of water."
