Chapter 176: Li Hen Tian Station

~8 min read 1,452 words

To the bus's original passengers, every Lotus Juanren was a ferocious, evil demon.

They all voluntarily crowded at the front of the bus, leaving the spacious rear entirely for the Lotus Juanren.

The bus started moving again.

Wu Xian and the others had come by bus and now left by bus; there were still twenty-two people aboard, but many of the faces were no longer the originals.

Wu Xian sat in the very back, watching the scenery outside the window.

No matter where the bus drove, the sky was forever gloomy and dark, the land was a sheet of blood-red everywhere, and grotesque illusions of human bones and corpses could be seen at every turn—this world was no different from hell.

Aunt He walked over, sat down beside Wu Xian, and asked him in a low voice.

"Kid, are you satisfied with your life in the real world?"

Ever since the Lotus Juanren had set out on the return journey, Aunt He's behavior had seemed somewhat abnormal; she had spoken privately with Wei Dian and with Du E separately, and now it was Wu Xian's turn.

Wu Xian thought for a moment, decided Black Gu's dishes still had room for improvement, and so answered.

"Not very satisfied."

The corner of Aunt He's mouth curled up, and a note of instigation entered her tone.

"Don't you think all of this is unreasonable?"

"The life-and-death crises we went through in the Blessed Land are things those people couldn't even imagine, yet once we leave the Blessed Land, in the real world we still have to bow our heads beneath others, worry over firewood, rice, oil, and salt, and swallow the petty insults of those fools!"

Wu Xian spread his hands helplessly: "Nothing for it. The real world has the real world's rules of survival."

"Bullshit!"

Aunt He cursed.

"Compared to the dangers of the Blessed Land, what do the rules of the real world even count for?"

"Don't you want to break those rules, to be a person above others—power, wealth, beauties… as long as you're willing, you can use the worship props to get everything you want!"

"We've already paid the price in the Blessed Land; those things are simply what we're owed!"

Hearing Aunt He's words, Wu Xian immediately felt a headache coming on, and so declined tactfully.

"There's still nothing for it. The Fuyuan Chenghuang Office has its eyes on us—worship props can't be used on ordinary people. In the real world we're just ordinary people."

Aunt He gave a cold laugh: "The Fuyuan Chenghuang Office won't let us use them because it doesn't want the Blessed Land's information leaked. As long as we shut the mouths of everyone who sees our abilities, they can't touch us…"

Wu Xian's expression shifted slightly: "Shut their mouths… you mean kill them?"

"That's right. Anyone who gets in our way, just kill them. Don't tell me that after seeing so much death in the Blessed Land, you still treat killing as a big deal."

Wu Xian fell silent.

"You're a talent with potential. I believe you'll make the right choice. We'll come find you in a while; give me your answer then."

Aunt He laughed, patted Wu Xian on the shoulder, stood up, walked to the front of the bus, and went off to chat with this world's survivors on board.

Wu Xian watched her back, a flash of killing intent passing through his eyes.

Trouble.

Aunt He was trouble!

Not long ago, Jing Ke had sworn earnestly to Wu Xian that the real world needed peace and quiet, and that Lotus Juanren should not scheme against one another.

And yet, how long had it been before trouble came knocking on its own.

The peaceful, tranquil world Jing Ke had painted was beautiful and ideal, but people like Aunt He were what reality looked like.

Some people, once they grasp power, want to seize more; once they have gone through slaughter, they grow indifferent to life. To get what they want, they won't care what the world becomes—even if order collapses and the innocent perish.

The Fuyuan Chenghuang Office's punishments and the Earth Official's condemnation are a kind of deterrent, but the number of people willing to take the risk is by no means small.

If Aunt He really latched onto him, Wu Xian figured he'd never have an easy day again.

But the bus was hardly the place to make a move, and Wu Xian had no idea how much hidden strength Aunt He had, so he sighed, a little more trouble weighing on his heart.

……

The bus was driving along when it suddenly stopped, and the door opened.

The driver looked bewildered—he hadn't stopped the bus.

At some unknown moment, the blood-soaked ground outside the window had vanished, leaving only tall wild grass; beside the road stood a wooden platform of archaic simplicity, with a wooden sign that read.

Li Hen Tian Station.

The little Sky Demon that had been lying at Du E's feet dissolved into nothing, in the end never getting to drink its basin of blood.

The Lotus Juanren knew they had reached the end, and filed off the bus one by one.

The survivors who had fled the city wept with relief one after another—they had finally found a place far from blood and slaughter.

Before getting off, Wu Xian glanced at the people still on the bus.

He knew that once these people got off, their memories would be wiped, and they would begin new lives in the real world—until the unlucky ones among them entered the Blessed Land again.

After Wu Xian got off the bus, the scene before his eyes suddenly changed.

Everything in front of him twisted, manifesting countless scenes, as if he had stepped into the river of time; this world's past and future unfolded before his eyes in a sweeping, panoramic way.

Wu Xian was no longer a stranger to such a scene.

This was Disaster Retrospection!

Why hadn't it triggered in the last Blessed Land, yet triggered here in this world?

It might be because, in the World of Malevolent Entities, everything he saw and heard had been fake, and he hadn't touched the truth of that world's destruction.

But in this monster world, through Willow Immortal Aunt's perspective, he had seen the source of the disaster.

This made Wu Xian a little excited.

Before, no matter what they did in the Blessed Land, they couldn't actually change that world's future. Although they had killed Liu Baoyu and rescued Willow Immortal Aunt, that had only been the illusory future of a scrambled space.

But in Disaster Retrospection—

Wu Xian might truly be able to change that world's fate.

The bloody curtain rose, and the monsters' cruel, brutal acts against humanity unfolded before Wu Xian's eyes like a painted scroll.

The Evil Dragon reigned high in the heavens; demons, humans, all living things became the Evil Dragon's nourishment.

Cloud-like swarms of demons devoured the human armies, shattered the order of the human world, and trampled human dignity underfoot.

He saw the chaos caused when Liu Baoyu held a banquet, when the servants of the Liu Estate rushed into the city and wantonly seized humans…

He also saw that driver — after watching the news on TV about the bus being discovered — his face showed a look of relief as he muttered to himself.

"They're all dead. Good that they're dead. Once everyone's dead, no one will blame me."

The scenes were chaotic and complex.

Wu Xian stood at the center of every scene.

He realized this time was a little different from last time — this time he had room to choose, free to pick any point in time for himself to appear.

Wu Xian thought for a moment.

He pointed his finger at the very beginning of everything — the cliff where the bus had fallen.

Boom!

The bus fell from the cliff, crashing beside the snake's nest. The driver looked at the dying passengers inside the vehicle, his emotions collapsing into breakdown. When he raised his head again, he had already made up his mind to abandon everyone and live the rest of his life under a false identity.

The driver slowly backed away.

The Liu Immortal Aunt within the snake's nest sensed the driver's intention to abandon everyone, poked her head out of the snake's nest, and called out to him.

"Don't go, save—"

The Liu Immortal Aunt's words cut off abruptly.

Because she saw the driver who wanted to flee get taken down in one punch by a disheveled man, who then straddled him and delivered a vicious slap across his face.

Smack!
