Chapter 504: The First Night in the Dorm
What Wu Xian and the other two said.
It was all the information they could gather on the ninth floor.
Uncle Crow eagerly asked Wu Xian: “Bro, what do you think we should do next?”
Wu Xian thought for a moment and said.
“We still know too little about this blessed land, so I suggest we focus on the dorm rules—read every single rule carefully, memorize them, and treat obeying them as a matter of life and death.”
“Heh, do you really have to say that?”
Ma San, the husband in the sleazy couple, sneered.
Though he was a Juanren , he had been accidentally dragged in, and his mood had remained foul; after gradually calming down, he now sought to seize control from Wu Xian.
“Simply obeying the rules blindly won’t get you any intelligence.”
“I suggest we find time tomorrow to set traps for the locals, make them break the student rules on their own, so we can get firsthand information.”
Wu Xian frowned.
It was indeed a highly effective method.
But the method was too cruel—the lives of the locals mattered too. Wu Xian had paid a price on the Luo Wang Island blessed land because he had underestimated the value of local lives.
The Juanren fell silent.
None voiced approval of the suggestion; only Ma Tiantian firmly supported her husband.
But several newcomers looked visibly tempted—compared to the uncertain lives of the locals, their own survival mattered more.
“No, I disagree!”
At that moment, Hai Weijiang spoke decisively.
After Hai Weijiang spoke.
The eight college students all chimed in agreement—they had not yet entered society and were still at the peak of their sense of justice.
“Exactly, that’s too despicable.”
“A person must have boundaries.”
After being rebuked several times, Ma San scowled and fell silent.
Finally,
Uncle Crow stepped in to mediate.
“We’re on the ninth floor. The eight floors below are all full—eight rooms per floor, four people per room, totaling 288 people, plus us makes 310.”
“Those people are a mixed bunch and don’t even know there’s danger here—they’ll surely do reckless things. We just need to wait. No need to take risks ourselves.”
This argument
Made the already tense atmosphere even worse.
All the necessary information had been exchanged, so everyone decided to end today’s discussion and hurry to tidy their dorms before lying down to sleep before eleven.
Before entering the room,
Wu Xian carefully observed several Juanren .
Su Mi need not be mentioned.
Wen Tinghua kept smiling, like a blooming bonsai—standing there quietly, hard to judge what kind of person she really was.
Huo Shutong acted decisively and had strong initiative—for now, she was a reliable teammate.
Xu Shen was still gasping for breath; climbing to the ninth floor had nearly killed him.
As for Ma San and Kang Tiantian, their behavior had no boundaries; trust in them must be discounted, and they were likely entangled in something very troublesome.
But it was only the first day.
All observations were still superficial.
Perhaps Su Mi, the most trustworthy, had already been corrupted by the blessed land; perhaps Ma San and his wife, seemingly ruthless, were the ones most worthy of trust.
Wu Xian finally entered Dorm 902.
His roommates were Su Mi, Wen Tinghua, and a female college student named Jin Shasha, who had streaks of pale blonde hair and glittering pink nail polish, and who had been trembling since entering the room.
Yes.
The dorms at the Immigration University were co-ed.
If Wu Xian’s own college dorm had been like this, he might not have dropped out halfway… but Wu Xian had no lewd thoughts—anyone who dared indulge in fantasies within the blessed land would likely end up drenched in blood.
As soon as they entered the room,
Wu Xian felt something was off.
After a moment’s thought, he realized the issue.
A normal college dorm room should have bunk beds with desks and cabinets underneath.
But the beds in this dorm were only tall single beds, with wooden desks and chairs beneath—visually mismatched.
“Perhaps this blessed land’s school simply has this style.”
The dorm was long and narrow, so Wu Xian, the first to enter, claimed the innermost bed—number one—so if anyone came to inspect, they’d check the beds near the door first.
Bed two was Wen Tinghua’s, bed three belonged to Jin Shasha, and bed four went to Su Mi, who entered last.
Wu Xian had just placed his bag on the bed when someone tapped his shoulder.
He turned and saw Wen Tinghua standing behind him, giving a subtle glance toward the door. Wu Xian understood and followed her into the corridor.
Wen Tinghua scanned the surroundings, confirmed no one was nearby, then leaned against the wall with arms crossed.
“I originally planned to disguise myself as a flower seller, but just before boarding the ship, someone stopped me and told me to pass you a message when I found a moment alone.”
That must be why Wen Tinghua abandoned her disguise. Wu Xian asked curiously: “What was the message?”
“Figure it out yourself.”
Wu Xian froze: “What?”
“You heard me right. I won’t repeat it.”
“What does that mean?”
“I don’t know.”
“Who told you to deliver this message?”
Wen Tinghua frantically tugged at her hair, releasing its floral scent: “I don’t know either! I was hoping you could tell me something!”
Wu Xian pondered.
It seemed not just Ma San and his wife were entangled in trouble—Wu Xian and Wen Tinghua were too.
“Perhaps these two matters are one and the same.”
After whispering,
Wu Xian and Wen Tinghua returned to the dorm and began laying out bedding.
The dorm had no cabinets, so there was little to tidy—only one issue needed discussion: sleeping direction. Since all beds were in a straight line, if everyone slept facing the same way, three people’s heads would point at others’ feet.
So the two girls on beds two and three slept head-to-head, while Wu Xian and Su Mi each faced a wall.
What everyone had to do next
Was wait for time to pass. Since inspection was at eleven, something would surely happen during it.
Jin Shasha had been quiet at first, but gradually began to cry softly.
She was just an ordinary college student—she’d never imagined encountering something like this. Facing such bizarre circumstances, how could she not be terrified?
At first, with her classmates around, she could force a smile.
But now, forced to share a room with strangers—especially two men—she lost all sense of safety, and her fear only grew.
Wu Xian grew increasingly irritated as he listened, and couldn’t help speaking up.
“I suggest you toughen up. To survive long in the blessed land, mindset matters. If you cry at every little thing, you won’t last.”
After Wu Xian’s well-intentioned advice,
Jin Shasha became even more terrified, tears streaming down uncontrollably.
Wen Tinghua gave Wu Xian a disapproving look, leaned over, patted Jin Shasha’s cheek, then performed a small magic trick—she spun a pen in her hand, and suddenly held a red flower.
Jin Shasha was distracted by the trick and stopped crying for a moment.
Wen Tinghua smiled: “This is a red cosmos. Its flower language is strength. I hope…”
Pop.
Before she could finish, the dorm lights went out.
