Chapter 85: Infinite Manhunt Arc Summary
Infinite Manhunt Arc Summary
Infinite Manhunt Arc Summary
La la la, the Infinite Manhunt Arc is finished!
Hmm…
First, let me report the results: it’s been launched, with 660 initial subscriptions.
Thank you to all 660 friends who subscribed.
Too bad I didn’t hit 666 (just kidding).
Within the mystery category, this is a very strong debut for a new novel.
Though I can’t compare it to other genres, I’m still extremely, extremely satisfied.
What follows is a summary of Volume Two’s plot—readers uninterested can skip it outright; it won’t affect your understanding of the story, and you don’t have to read it—it’s just my rambling thoughts.
Three Days Two Naps, that legendary slacker, is one of my idols in the web novel industry.
So in future chapters, I’ll make slight adjustments to the style—don’t worry I won’t stick to one path until it breaks.
I’ve always wanted to write a story like this, but I never had the ability; maybe I still don’t, but at least this time I managed to pull it off.
That kind of thing easily leads to abstract plots.
When I started the novel, I hesitated, but since I never divided it into volumes from the beginning, splitting now would be too late, so I gave up.
Even if it’s not written very well… consider it my personal fantasy fulfilled.
And I won’t change the future plot just because readers guess it.
…
I really love his books… Ghost Whisper, Trafficking Sin, Horror Park, The Two Jokers—I especially think Trafficking Sin is his best, though Horror Park sold the most.
Let me talk a bit more.
But from the perspective of a writer with a bit of ambition.
——
This kind of story may seem simple to readers, but writing it isn’t easy.
And some over-the-top plot points don’t fit well either at the beginning or the end.
The remaining scattered inspirations mostly come from suspenseful Hong Kong films.
Circular stories are no longer novel.
But my circular story, though inspired, isn’t copied from anyone—it’s my own.
It’s truly boring.
About Volume Two.
First, from the perspective of a writer chasing profit.
I don’t know if readers have noticed this.
I’m not afraid you’ll guess the plot, because I’ve already given all the clues; with your intelligence, guessing part of it is perfectly normal.
During writing, I chose to show readers all clues the protagonist would use as early as possible, and for details I couldn’t show directly, I made sure to lay proper groundwork, so the plot wouldn’t feel jarring when revealed.
Identity loops, cause-and-effect loops—the whole story is a circle, and all key characters are the protagonist himself.
For the identity loop, I was inspired by Predestination, but since this story doesn’t involve time loops, I chose a career loop instead.
Sources of inspiration for this arc.
————
Some readers suggested I divide the volumes.
That’s about it.
Hmm…
I really love my Volume Two.
For the idea that all participants are the same person, I was inspired by Triangle—a classic suspense film; I recommend you watch it.
According to reader feedback, this volume was somewhat of a failure: though some readers liked it, follow-up readership dropped sharply, clearly because most found it dull.
Also, about updates: I’ll try to post three times daily, but I can’t guarantee how long I can sustain it.
…
Thank you all for your support—I truly appreciate it.
…
First, some plot elements were inspired by Ping Tian’s story in Horror Park.
I’ve summarized every arc—use these as reference; they might help you.
Next: The Deadly Choice Arc—stay tuned!
