Chapter 90

Tang Taizong period.

Li Shimin himself looked at the sky screen, his hands trembling.

Chengqian... his eldest son, the Crown Prince he once had high hopes for.

Now Chengqian is still young, has not yet developed a foot disease, and is still that smart and clever child.

But what the sky screen said, every word was like a knife.

"Your Majesty." Empress Zhangsun called him softly.

Li Shimin came back to his senses and held her hand.

"Guanyinbi, I won't let Chengqian become like that, I won't."

Empress Zhangsun nodded, but there was worry in her eyes.

What the sky screen shows is all the future, can the future... really be changed?

【In his later years, Li Shimin began to believe in alchemists and take elixirs.

He asked the Tianzhu alchemist Nalunisuopo to refine elixirs for longevity.

The ministers advised him: "Your Majesty, these are all lies! He didn't listen.】

In the picture, the elderly Li Shimin looked haggard, but was still taking elixirs.

The ministers knelt and remonstrated, he waved them away.

In 649 AD, Li Shimin took the elixir, and his condition deteriorated sharply.

【In the Hanfeng Hall of Cuiwei Palace, the 52-year-old Li Shimin lay on the sickbed, emaciated.

He held Li Zhi's hand and said intermittently:

"Wuji... Suiliang... are all here... all here... you... you must treat them well..."】

Li Zhi nodded while crying.

Li Shimin looked at the ceiling, muttering:

"Zhenguan... twenty-three years... I... I still want to... go to fight Goguryeo..."

His hand slowly dropped.

On July 10, 649 AD, Tang Taizong Li Shimin passed away at the age of fifty-two.

The sky screen darkened, and various dynasties were silent.

Ying Zheng looked at the picture of Li Shimin taking elixirs, his brows locked.

"Elixirs... longevity... humph, absurd."

He remembered that he had also sought immortals and medicine, but that was when he was young.

Now, he had long understood that longevity was an illusion.

"This Li Shimin, wise for a lifetime, confused for a moment." Liu Bang shook his head.

Liu Che also said: "Emperors in their later years often believe in alchemists, Qin Shi Huang was like this, I was like this in my later years, and this Tang Taizong was also like this."

"It seems that no one can escape the temptation of longevity."

Zhu Yuanzhang snorted: "I don't believe in this, what elixirs, they are all lies, I only believe in myself, believe in my sword, believe in my soldiers!"

Empress Ma was gratified: "Chongba understands."

But the most shocked was Li Shimin himself.

He looked at the dying self on the sky screen, looking at his early death due to taking elixirs, looking at his unfulfilled wish to fight Goguryeo.

"Fifty-two years old... elixirs..." He muttered.

"Your Majesty!"

Empress Zhangsun held his hand tightly.

"You saw it, elixirs cannot be trusted, you must not..."

"I know."

Li Shimin held her hand back, his eyes firm.

"Since I know the future, I will naturally not repeat the same mistakes, I will fight Goguryeo, but this longevity... I won't seek it."

He looked at the ministers and said loudly:

"Ministers, hear the decree: From today on, alchemists are forbidden in the palace, anyone who speaks of longevity elixirs will be beheaded!"

"Your Majesty is wise!" The ministers knelt and bowed.

Wei Zheng was especially excited.

"Your Majesty can realize this truth, it is the blessing of the world!"

Li Shimin smiled, but his heart was heavy.

What the sky screen shows, can he change it?

Chengqian's foot disease, Qingque's ambition, Zhinu's cowardice... and, Guanyinbi's early death.

He held Empress Zhangsun's hand tightly, swearing in his heart:

This time, I will never let any of you leave.

The sky screen golden light rose again, and the music became magnificent.

【Summary: Li Shimin created the Zhenguan Prosperous Age, making the Great Tang the most powerful empire in the world at that time;

He had ten thousand nations coming to court and was honored as "Heavenly Khan";

The governing philosophy he left behind influenced China for over a thousand years.

To this day, there are Chinatowns in the West, and Chinese people are called "Tang people"】

The sky screen image showed:

Ten thousand nations came to Chang'an, merchants on the Silk Road were in an endless stream, and envoys from Persia, Dashi, and Tianzhu gathered.

In a certain place in the West, a "Chinatown" archway stood, and Chinese faces came and went.

【Li Shimin is ranked second among the top ten eternal emperors of Huaxia, well-deserved!】

【His nicknames: Heavenly Khan, Heavenly Strategy General, Hexagonal Warrior, Gatekeeper of Eternal Emperors (because the first place is too strong)】

Barrage area.

Liu Bang: "Hexagonal Warrior? What does it mean?"

Liu Che: "Looking at the description, it should be a master of both civil and military, with no shortcomings."

Ying Zheng: "Gatekeeper of Eternal Emperors? Interesting, then the first place should be me."

Zhu Yuanzhang: "Let me guess, this first place must be the First Emperor."

【It's time for the sky screen blessing again】

The sky was full of golden light, and auspicious clouds gathered.

【In view of Tang Taizong Li Shimin's achievements in creating Zhenguan and spreading prestige throughout the four seas, the following rewards are granted to the person on the list:

120 years of lifespan (can be freely distributed)

10,000 jin of potato seeds with a yield of over 3,000 jin per mu

Blueprints for the three-piece warhorse set (saddle, stirrups, horseshoes)

A blueprint for refined salt production

30 years of favorable weather for the Great Tang!】

Beams of golden light fell, turning into objects, floating above the space-time where Li Shimin was.

The emperors of various dynasties had red eyes.

"120 years of lifespan?! And can be freely distributed?!"

Liu Bang jumped up, "This, why! I want it too!"

Liu Che couldn't sit still either.

"Potato seeds, yield of 3,000 jin per mu? Did I hear it right? Nowadays the yield in Guanzhong is no more than two or three hundred jin, this potato actually has ten times the profit?!"

Ying Zheng's breathing was rapid: "Three-piece warhorse set... saddle, stirrups, horseshoes... if I have this, won't my Great Qin cavalry be like a tiger with wings?!"

Zhu Yuanzhang stared at the refined salt blueprint.

"The Great Tang gets this divine artifact, salt profit doubles, why worry about military expenses?!"

Yang Jian looked at "30 years of favorable weather," his eyes straight.

"30 years of favorable weather... if I have this heavenly blessing, why wouldn't my Great Sui prosper?! Why wouldn't my people be full?!"

The sky screen ignored them and continued to play.

Space-time where Li Shimin was.

The golden light fell, the lifespan turned into a ball of light, and the potato seeds, blueprints, and other things floated in the air.

Li Shimin looked up, his expression calm.

He reached out, and the lifespan light ball fell into his palm, warm and gentle.

He lowered his head, looked at Empress Zhangsun beside him, and asked softly:

"Guanyinbi, I will give you half of my lifespan, okay?"

Empress Zhangsun was stunned, then smiled and shook her head.

"Your Majesty, I only wish to live and die with you, keep this lifespan for yourself, the Great Tang needs you."

Li Shimin held her hand tightly: "Without you, what's the use of this lifespan for me?"

Empress Zhangsun's eye sockets were slightly red, but she still shook her head.

Barrage area.

Ying Zheng (@Li Shimin): "You kid, are you abusing dogs?"

Liu Bang (@Li Shimin): "If my Lv Zhi were as good as this..."

Lv Zhi (@Liu Bang): "If Your Majesty is willing to share your lifespan with me, I would be very grateful."

Liu Bang (@Lv Zhi): "Cough cough, this... let's discuss it later, discuss it later."

Liu Che (@Li Shimin): "If Lady Li were still here, I would also be willing to share half with her."

Wei Zifu bowed her head silently.

Zhu Yuanzhang (@Li Shimin): "Old Li, this show of affection makes me miss Sister Ma..."

Empress Ma (patted Zhu Yuanzhang): "Chongba, I'm here."

Zhu Yuanzhang (held Empress Ma's hand): "Sister, I also shared lifespan before, we will live to be old together."

Empress Ma smiled: "Okay."

Zhu Biao whispered: "Father, Mother has always been by your side, don't forget what's in front of you just because you watched the sky screen."

Zhu Yuanzhang: "Cough cough, I know, I know."

Qianlong just wanted to jump: "This..."

Zhu Di (@Qianlong): "Shut up! Today's atmosphere, you dare to destroy it and try?"

Ying Zheng (@Qianlong): "My sword doesn't have eyes."

Zhu Yuanzhang (@Qianlong): "My shoe sole is ready."

Qianlong (went offline silently).
