Chapter 1367: The Saintess Position Competition

Hearing Wang Jianqiang's words, Lianyin nodded, "The Jade Clam Clan's Saintess Position Competition is about to begin. Bi Xianzi is one of the Saintess Candidates for the Jade Clam Clan and must return to the Jade Clam Clan within the deadline."

"If it weren't for wanting to wait for your return to say goodbye, I would have left ten days ago."

Speaking of this, she changed the subject, "Brother Qiang, where have you been during this time? Why haven't I seen you at all?"

"Ahem, I went out of the city to handle some urgent matters."

Wang Jianqiang responded calmly, then pondered for a moment and continued the previous topic, "How difficult is the Jade Clam Clan's Saintess Position Competition? Are Yan'er's chances of success high? Will there be danger?"

Hearing Wang Jianqiang's inquiry, Lianyin's expression became a bit more solemn.

She pondered for a moment and said, "The Jade Clam Clan is a very special race; all members within the clan are women."

"The Saintess of the Jade Clam Clan is actually the Young Clan Leader of the Jade Clam Clan. If nothing unexpected happens, every generation of Saintess will successfully ascend to the position of Clan Leader."

"Therefore, the Jade Clam Clan's Saintess battle can be completely viewed as a battle for the next generation's Clan Leader. Thus, the competition for every generation's Saintess position is very intense... no, calling it brutal would be more accurate."

Hearing Biyan'er's words, Wang Jianqiang's expression turned solemn, and at the same time, he couldn't help but be a bit curious, "Are there only women in the Jade Clam Clan? Then how do they reproduce?"

Biyan'er rolled her eyes at Wang Jianqiang, did not answer this question, and continued the previous topic, "In the hundred years before the start of each Saintess Position Competition, the Jade Clam Clan selects the ten clansmen with the most powerful talent to become Saintess Candidates by passing through the Clan Tower."

"During this period, the positions of the Saintess Candidates are not fixed."

"If other clansmen can surpass a certain Saintess Candidate in their Clan Tower results, they will replace that position and become a new Saintess Candidate."

"This rule will continue until the Saintess Competition begins."

Speaking of this, a heavy look appeared on Lianyin's face, "The competition for Saintess Candidates, although intense, is not brutal."

"Compared to that, the final Saintess battle among the ten candidates is what can be called truly brutal."

"Among the ten candidates, only one can win and become the true Saintess; all the others will either fall or be forced to become slaves of the Saintess, used for her purposes."

Hearing Lianyin's account, Wang Jianqiang's expression tightened.

In that case, this battle for the Saintess position has absolutely no way out?

Wang Jianqiang pondered for a moment, "How is Biyan'er ranked among these ten candidates? Are her chances of obtaining the Saintess position high?"

After some thought, Lianyin said with a solemn expression, "If we only talk about talent, Bi Xianzi is indisputably the first among the ten candidates."

"In terms of personal strength, Bi Xianzi can at least rank in the top three among the ten candidates."

"But if we are talking about the chances of obtaining the Saintess position..."

Speaking of this, Lianyin was silent for a moment and continued, "Infinitely close to zero."

Hearing this, Wang Jianqiang's brows immediately furrowed tightly.

"Why?"

"Biyan'er's talent and strength are not weak; why is the probability of her becoming the Saintess so low?"

"Because the rules for this Saintess Position Competition have changed."

Lianyin said, "The Jade Clam Clan's previous Saintess battles only required the candidates to step onto the ring and fight each other; the final winner would become the Saintess. The process was relatively simple."

"But ever since this current Jade Clam Clan Chief took office, the rules for the Saintess Position Competition have been changed."

"The current Saintess Position Competition is no longer a ring battle, but a team competition."

Wang Jianqiang's expression shifted, "Team competition? What kind of team competition?"

Lianyin shook her head.

"I don't know about that."

"The specific rules are probably only known to the high-level members of the Jade Clam Clan."

"Then how can you be sure that Biyan'er cannot become the Saintess?" Wang Jianqiang was astonished.

Lianyin looked at Wang Jianqiang, "Because I can be certain that Biyan'er absolutely cannot find powerful helpers."

Wang Jianqiang was stunned and did not speak, silently waiting for Lianyin's follow-up.

Seeing this, Lianyin continued, "Biyan'er is actually the direct bloodline of the previous Jade Clam Clan Chief. The mother of this current Jade Clam Clan Chief was once a Saintess Candidate of the same generation as her, and in the end, she was defeated by the other party in the Saintess Position Competition and fell."

"So..."

"This current Jade Clam Clan Chief and Biyan'er's lineage actually have a grudge."

"And Biyan'er's lineage has now declined; they simply cannot gather many powerful peers. As for other Jade Clam clansmen, they are even more afraid to help Biyan'er."

"That is why I conclude that Biyan'er absolutely cannot become the Jade Clam Clan's Saintess."

Hearing this, Wang Jianqiang's brows were already furrowed.

Biyan'er's elder was the clan chief from two generations ago and had a grudge with the current clan chief.

Biyan'er has astonishing talent and strong personal strength.

After this generation's clan chief took office, she immediately changed the rules of the Saintess Competition.

Looking at these three clues...

This Jade Clam Clan Chief, no matter how you look at it, seems to be settling a private grudge?

Could it be that she is deliberately targeting Biyan'er?

In this way, if Biyan'er wants to win the Saintess position, it really is hell-level difficulty!

Recalling the details in Lianyin's words, Wang Jianqiang's expression shifted, "You just said that only peer Cultivators can participate in this battle?"

Biyan'er nodded, "That's right."

"What is the age range for this 'peer'?" Wang Jianqiang asked.

"No more than two thousand years old," Lianyin said.

Wang Jianqiang raised an eyebrow, "What about the minimum?"

Lianyin gave him a strange look, "The minimum, of course, has no limit. Those candidates aren't stupid; naturally, they will choose helpers who have cultivated for a long time and have strong cultivation within the permitted rules. Otherwise, what could a three- or five-hundred-year-old little baby do?"

Wang Jianqiang's heart skipped a beat, his expression somewhat stiff.

"Brother Qiang, what's wrong?"

Noticing that Wang Jianqiang's expression looked a bit unpleasant, Lianyin asked in confusion.

What is it?

Of course I was offended!

Wang Jianqiang complained inwardly.

Of course.

He certainly could not say his thoughts out loud.

He couldn't very well tell Lianyin that he was just a little brat under five hundred years old, could he?

If Lianyin found out, how could he maintain his dignified and mature image in front of her?

"Ahem, I'm fine."

Wang Jianqiang shook his head and continued to ask, "Can outsiders participate and help in the Jade Clam Clan's Saintess competition?"

Lianyin pondered for a moment and said slowly, "It is possible, but... outsiders participating will be restricted and at a great disadvantage."

Wang Jianqiang's expression shifted.

"What kind of restrictions?"
