Chapter 269: Master’s Keen Eye! _1
The temple was deserted, as it was not a festival day, thus no pilgrims were seen coming to offer incense.
Looking around, only a few monks with brooms sweeping the ground could be seen.
Mr. Feng strode forward and came to a monk, joined his hands in salute, and then began a conversation.
Whatever the two discussed remained unknown, but Mr. Feng then gestured for Yin Tian and the others to come over.
Yin Tian promptly led Su Qinwei and the three girls over.
"Please follow me," the monk whispered, putting down his broom and walking off into the distance.
Yin Tian and his party followed.
After passing through several temple buildings, they were eventually brought by the monk to the front of the Great Hero Treasure Hall.
"The Abbot is inside, please feel free to enter."
With those words, the monk brought his hands together in salute once more, and then turned to leave.
"Shall we go in?"
Mr. Feng looked at Yin Tian, seeking his opinion.
Yin Tian nodded, "Let’s go."
The group ascended the steps and entered the Great Hero Treasure Hall.
There, kneeling on a cushion below the Buddha statue, was a monk draped in a kasaya, eyes closed in prayer, rhythmically tapping a wooden fish with a mallet.
"Master? Master?"
Mr. Feng called out softly.
However, Yin Tian reached out, took Mr. Feng by the arm, and shook his head slightly, signaling him not to interrupt.
Seeing this, Mr. Feng also stood respectfully to the side, quietly waiting.
Yin Tian stood there, surveying his surroundings.
In fact.
Upon entering the temple, Yin Tian had felt something amiss.
It was a sudden tranquility of heart.
Recently, too much had happened.
Though he had never shown it, his heart was actually in turmoil.
But upon entering the Chanjing Temple, he felt an inexplicable peace.
The gloom that had weighed on his heart was inexplicably swept away!
It was a kind of tranquility that came from the depths of his soul.
After a while, the Abbot finally put down his mallet, opened his eyes, and turned to look at Yin Tian and the others.
"Thank you for waiting so patiently," the Abbot said with a gentle smile on his face.
Mr. Feng turned to look at Yin Tian, who gave a slight nod in response.
Understanding Yin Tian’s intention, Mr. Feng turned back to the Abbot, "Greetings, Master. Last night, I had someone come over to request a grand ritual to be held here for the salvation of a soul."
"The Buddha says, ’The sea of suffering is boundless; turn your head to find the shore.’ It is indeed joyful to see a devotee take such a step," the Abbot responded to Mr. Feng with a bow, his face wearing a smile, "To look within one’s heart and be willing to atone for past deeds shows a karmic connection with the Buddha."
Mr. Feng’s face bore an awkward smile, and he said no more.
The Abbot turned, however, to look at Yin Tian, "The fate of the benefactor is quite peculiar."
Yin Tian was startled, not expecting the Abbot to have such perceptiveness to notice the peculiarities of his fate.
The Abbot then turned to Su Qinwei, "With the aspect of a phoenix and dragon, prosperous for oneself and one’s husband, destined for wealth and honor."
Upon hearing the Abbot’s praise, Su Qinwei shyly lowered her head.
Then, the Abbot glanced at Chen Yu, "Fortune and misfortune coexist, leading eventually to a righteous outcome, very good indeed."
Chen Yu was puzzled, not quite understanding the cryptic words of the Master.
Finally, the Abbot’s eyes rested on Ye Qinghuang, "Destiny fraught with hardship, yet never losing self-possession, how fortunate indeed."
Yin Tian’s eyebrows raised slightly.
This Abbot had discerned the fates of Su Qinwei and the others with just a glance, surely no ordinary individual!
"Master, what insight!" Yin Tian exclaimed in admiration.
"Though your fate is obscured, making it hard for me to discern," said the Abbot, "I can see that ten threads of destiny intertwine with your own. Benefactor, the debt of romantic entanglements you owe is truly enviable."
Yin Tian was startled, then laughed awkwardly.
The Abbot had even perceived the matter of his ten fiancées!
Mr. Feng, standing on the side and noticing that the Abbot had only exchanged a few words with him before engaging in casual conversation with Yin Tian, wore an expression of embarrassment, "Master, about my request..."
"Be at ease," the Abbot turned back to Mr. Feng, "I am aware of your intentions. The ritual platform has been set up in the backyard, waiting for you."
With these words, Mr. Feng was astonished.
Although he had sent someone the day before, he had never mentioned anything about setting up a ritual platform or holding a grand ceremony. How could the Abbot have known?
"Alright, Mr. Feng, let’s do it here," Yin Tian spoke softly, giving the Abbot a discreet look, "This Master is no ordinary man."
"Amitabha."
The Abbot did not speak, simply smiling and reciting the Buddha’s name.
"Alright, since Brother Yin Tian has said so, let’s proceed here," Mr. Feng said
In reality, Mr. Feng had no intention of looking elsewhere.
After all, if this place was unsuitable, the only option would be to look for another province.
