Chapter 349 Are You Just This Skilled?_1
With each piece falling into place, the empty spaces on the Go board were becoming fewer and fewer.
The entangled game pieces of both colors fought fiercely, each intent on capturing the opponent’s dragon.
Yin Tian was seated, drowsy and mostly waiting for Sun Wuya to ponder his next move.
Sweat covered Sun Wuya’s forehead, however.
Although the number of pieces on the board was about even, it must be remembered that Yin Tian had given him a four-stone handicap!
The contest on the board is often decided by a single piece or even half a piece.
Yin Tian had given him a four-stone handicap and yet could still hold his own against him.
To some extent, he had already lost!
Sun Wuya clenched his teeth, eyes fixed on the board in front of him.
When nearly three hundred pieces were on the board, Sun Wuya’s eyes lit up with joy; he suddenly stood up from his chair!
"Yin Tian, let’s see how you will save your dragon now!"
As Sun Wuya spoke, his white piece had already fiercely landed on the board.
The onlookers immediately let out exclamations of surprise.
The black and white dragons were interlocked in an unending battle, yet neither could overcome the other.
But with Sun Wuya’s move, the battle situation became clear!
Without any mistakes, just three more moves would see Yin Tian’s dragon slaughtered.
And once a dragon is slaughtered, there is no need to continue moving pieces, for the game is already lost.
Sun Wuya looked provocatively at Yin Tian, only to be momentarily stunned.
Yin Tian sat calmly in his chair, not the slightest bit shaken by Sun Wuya’s "divine move," instead unsettlingly serene!
He didn’t understand why Yin Tian, facing the imminent slaughter of his dragon, would appear so indifferent.
"Is this the level of an eight-dan player?"
Yin Tian glanced at Sun Wuya, "Overthinking the offensive and neglecting the defense, is this how your teacher taught you to play chess?"
As he spoke, Yin Tian picked up a piece.
Yet the spot where that piece landed wasn’t on the battlefield but rather on another area, long forgotten and overlooked by everyone.
As the piece was placed, a hush fell over the entire hall.
That area had been an early battlefield.
In the beginning, Sun Wuya thought Yin Tian would make his moves there. However, as the game progressed, Yin Tian switched to different areas, causing Sun Wuya to forget about it.
But now, with Yin Tian’s move, Sun Wuya suddenly discovered that Yin Tian’s dragon had its head and tail connected, trapping his dragon in the middle instead!
Under such circumstances, only one outcome was possible—his dragon could only wait for its demise.
What truly shocked him was that Yin Tian’s trap had been laid so early on!
With less than forty pieces played by both sides, Yin Tian had already begun laying the groundwork for this move, preparing it in advance and keeping it hidden.
It was only when he thought he had a firm hold on victory and was about to slay the dragon that Yin Tian dealt him a deadly blow!
"Indeed, a dragon must be slain, but it’s not mine that falls; it’s yours."
Yin Tian looked at Sun Wuya with a smile, "Make your move, although it’s already of little use. But I believe you won’t give up easily."
Just as Yin Tian said, Sun Wuya was not ready to give up.
He held the piece in his hand, making his last stand.
He watched as his pieces had nearly surrounded Yin Tian’s dragon’s head; with just one more move, he could capture at least twenty of Yin Tian’s pieces.
But as Yin Tian played his move, he began removing Sun Wuya’s white pieces one by one.
Seventeen pieces!
A total of seventeen pieces!
Sun Wuya felt as if his heart were bleeding.
With those seventeen pieces gone, his encirclement of Yin Tian’s dragon’s head had utterly failed.
The situation was immediately clear!
"Shall we continue?"
Yin Tian looked at Sun Wuya with a smile.
Sun Wuya, holding his piece, was breathing heavily.
After a few minutes, he dejectedly dropped the piece in his hand, "I have lost..."
The crowd erupted in noise.
No one had expected Yin Tian to win.
Especially since, at the start of the game, Yin Tian had given Sun Wuya a four-stone handicap, yet Sun Wuya had still been utterly defeated!
Yin Tian also put the pieces back into the box and then looked at Sun Wuya with a smile, "Since you’re admitting defeat, let’s begin."
Sun Wuya’s body trembled.
He of course knew what Yin Tian meant by "begin"—it was for him to kneel and apologize!
Shakily standing up, Sun Wuya turned pale, faced Yin Tian, and was about to kneel.
But just at that moment, a hand suddenly reached out, grasping Sun Wuya’s shoulder, stopping him from kneeling.
Sun Wuya turned and looked beside him, seeing it was his Second Senior Brother who had stopped him.
The Second Senior Brother shook his head at Sun Wuya and then looked at Yin Tian, "Brother, it’s better to spare others when possible. Forcing my junior brother to kneel and apologize will bring you no benefit. It will only turn him into your enemy for good. Why do this?"
Yin Tian, upon hearing this, immediately let out a snort of laughter, "Spare others where you can? That sounds better than song."
"Then let me ask you, if it were I who lost, would you not have me kneel and apologize?"
The Second Senior Brother was instantly silenced by Yin Tian’s question.
To be honest...
If Yin Tian had lost, he would not only not offer any help but most likely would kick a man when he was down!
