Chapter 224: Master Chongguang's Backup Plan, the Metal Nature Reward!

Inside a quiet meditation chamber at Zhushan.

Lu Yang sat cross-legged on a cushion, before him floated streaks of spiritual light, each one a spiritual material, totaling exactly three thousand six hundred kinds!

These were painstakingly gathered by True Person Shangxuan, nearly emptying the entire treasury of the Shangxuan Sword Sect.

Yet before he died, he gave them all to Lu Yang.

Immediately after, a white-gold aura manifested.

This was the Xin Metal Qi, also known as 【Master Chongguang】, now held in his grasp as a wisp of green spiritual fire surged forth, continuously refining it.

"Fortunately, I possess a spiritual fire too. Though it is for healing, it is still fire, so it can barely suffice for forging. As for forging skill, fortunately the requirements are not high; the focus lies in the materials. True Person Shangxuan has prepared these for me, and with my level, they are sufficient."

A moment later, Lu Yang waved his large hand.

All the spiritual materials fell into his 【Green Luan Noon Fire】, merging with that wisp of Xin Metal Qi, finally slowly taking the shape of a long sword.

Yet even so, the finished magical treasure was not very good.

Limited by Lu Yang's own level, a magical treasure forged this way would most likely be of medium quality; even if it became high quality, it would not count as a fine piece.

Fortunately, Lu Yang had long prepared a remedy.

"Now is the time!"

Without the slightest hesitation, Lu Yang directly retrieved the 【River of Stars Sword Pill】 given to him by Ye Xingfeng; this once-high-quality flying sword had already been mostly destroyed.

"Perfect, I can make full use of it."

Lu Yang waved his large hand, casting the 【River of Stars Sword Pill】 into the flames, using it to refine the 【Invisible Sword】 and thereby increase its quality.

Thus, after a long while, a long sword finally took complete shape from the flames.

【Invisible Sword】!

Everything flowed naturally; once the magical treasure was accomplished, it floated lightly into Lu Yang's hand, immediately transmitting an extremely intense spiritual thought.

And as Lu Yang shifted his mind, this spiritual sword instantly hid its form.

Silent and soundless, shadowless and formless!

"The secret flying sword of the Yuchu Sword Pavilion truly lives up to its name!" Lu Yang showed a look of emotion; this Invisible Sword and the Abyss Sword were two extremes.

The Abyss Sword requires slowly stacking 【Human Butcher】, favoring combat that suppresses opponents with force, with sword light opening and closing broadly. However, the Invisible Sword, let alone sword light, does not even reveal its blade when deployed; it completely merges into the daylight. Ordinary people cannot see the sword at all before their heads are severed.

"One orthodox, one unorthodox; both suit me perfectly!"

Lu Yang nodded in satisfaction, then immediately infused his divine sense into the sword, intending to see what marvels his hard-forged high-quality spiritual treasure possessed.

Yet a moment later, he froze.

For this 【Invisible Sword】 actually possessed three marvels, yet each of these three marvels was full of profound meaning, causing Lu Yang to squint his eyes.

The first marvel is named 【Assassinate the King】.

As the name implies, this sword can sense the status and power of the person it slays; the higher the status and the greater the power, the greater the sword's power, and the more capable it is of killing in a single strike.

The second marvel is named 【Coiled Steel】.

Coiled Steel means reversing reason and violating order, overturning the fundamental norms; therefore, this sword is not bound by rules, and any defensive divine techniques or spells are useless against it.

This is a sword for assassinating kings and slaying emperors.

Lu Yang's scalp tingled slightly; he then turned his gaze to the final marvel, named 【Master Chongguang】, whose outward appearance was a brilliant golden, inexplicable radiance.

"This is Metal Nature!?"

Lu Yang had met the Primordial Dao Sin and personally felt the sense of transcendence the Metal Nature brought the other party; now, upon that brilliant golden radiance, he felt the same sensation.

Is this a Metal Nature condensed from Master Chongguang!?

Lu Yang instinctively tried to extract it, yet was repelled outward. The 【Invisible Sword】 radiated brilliance, and the other two marvels shone brilliantly.

【Assassinate the King】, 【Coiled Steel】.

Understanding dawned in Lu Yang's eyes: "This is... my reward? They want me to assassinate Prince Qing, and this Metal Nature is my reward?"

Previously, he thought killing True Person Shangxuan and seizing the Xin Metal Qi from his hands had ruined Master Chongguang's plan; now it seemed the exact opposite.

True Person Master Chongguang had foreseen this step long ago!

"No, that's not right... not foreseen, but prepared in advance. It makes no difference who this wisp of Xin Metal Qi falls into."

If it fell into True Person Shangxuan's hands, he would still forge the Invisible Sword; and in his clash with me, as long as he was defeated, the Invisible Sword would still fall into my hands. The result remains unchanged; the only variable is what if I did not win and was instead defeated by True Person Shangxuan.

"No, that is not a variable."

Lu Yang pondered in his heart, his gaze growing brighter: "Since it concerns seeking Metal, how could True Person Master Chongguang allow any variable? Even if one existed, he would extinguish it!"

"In other words, he must have absolute certainty."

"He can be certain that no matter how events unfold, True Person Shangxuan will inevitably die by my hand, and I will inevitably obtain the Invisible Sword."

This was somewhat suspicious.

How long has Master Chongguang been reincarnated? Where did this absolute certainty come from?

Thinking this, Lu Yang already had a guess in his heart, one that fully matched his understanding of the Saint Sect True Persons and could resolve his previous doubts.

Indeed, with this, he now had a clear idea.

Putting away the Invisible Sword, Lu Yang pushed open the door and walked out of the secret chamber. A moment later, True Person Yinshan descended on a flight of evasion light, speaking in a heavy voice: "There is movement at the Dragon-Slaying Pass."

"They have broken out." True Person Yinshan's expression was grave.

"... What?"

Upon hearing this, Lu Yang showed surprise: "The Shangxuan Sword Sect has been annihilated; knowing this, they not only did not flee but dared to fight back?"

Who gave them the courage?

"... A Great True Person has intervened!"

A moment later, Lu Yang suddenly realized, understanding why True Person Yinshan's expression had become grave; clearly, they had thought of the same thing.

"Well, shall we go out to fight?"

True Person Yinshan spoke heavily: "If a Great True Person has truly intervened, we will surely be defeated, but the Saint Sect will not sit idly by; someone will definitely intervene."

"No rush."

Recalling that guess just now, Lu Yang shook his head: "Let's go check the situation first. If it really is a late-stage Foundation Establishment cultivator acting, we'll run immediately."

True Person Yinshan nodded in deep agreement.

We are all True Persons of the Holy Sect; naturally, we won't risk our lives for others. A favorable battle is fine, a difficult one can still be fought, but if it becomes a desperate situation, don't blame me for running.

Soon, the two of them both rode their escape lights and flew out.

Looking out, Yu Chan and Han Xiang had already led their people into battle; countless divine arts burst with brilliance in the sky, while on the ground, Qi Refining disciples were fighting in a bloodbath.

"Seems like there's no problem?"

Although Han Xiang and the others were currently at a disadvantage, that was due to their numerical inferiority. As long as he and True Person Yinshan joined the fight, this downward trend could be reversed immediately.

Just then, the figures of Lu Yang and True Person Yinshan were also spotted by others.

In the crowd, Duobao Tongzi's eyes instantly lit up. Pointing at Lu Yang, he shouted excitedly, "That is Duanmu Yuan Tu! Please, Venerable One, act!"

The next second, everyone's faces changed abruptly!

Inside the Zhalong Pass, three men whose entire bodies were covered in inscribed scriptures let out a cry of agony. Then, the skin and flesh of their whole bodies began to glow with golden brilliance.

Within the brilliance, the expressions of the three men gradually calmed down. Though their features were originally different, at a glance they now seemed like a single person: eyebrows slightly raised, a compassionate smile, hands pressed together in prayer. The spiritual energy within them erupted violently, surging all the way to the peak of the mid-stage Foundation Establishment realm!

"It's the Pure Land!"

Han Xiang, Yu Chan, and others instantly turned pale with shock, their silver teeth clenched tight: "Damn bald monks! It's a Blessing Technique! A Great True Person is acting from afar!"

This moment revealed the quality of the True Persons of the Holy Sect.

While Han Xiang and the other Jiangbei cultivators were still in shock, Yu Chan had already transformed into an escape light, shielding them in front of her. True Person Yinshan even turned around, ready to flee.

However, the next second, both of them stopped their movements.

"Duanmu Yuan Tu?"

True Person Yinshan turned back in confusion, only to see that Lu Yang was not running away at all; instead, he was examining the figures enhanced by the three Buddhist lights with great interest.

'These three people... something's wrong.'

Lu Yang sensed briefly and realized that those three relied entirely on burning their own Yang energy to allow that Great True Person of the Pure Land to boost them to the peak of the mid-stage Foundation Establishment realm.

So what if their Yang energy runs out?
