Chapter 246: Kill Them to My Heart's Content!
Outside the Four Seas Sect lay the Capsized Sea.
Legend held that this place was not originally a sea, but a massive island resembling a continent, which only sank during the last Great Calamity of a thousand years to become a battlefield for overseas True Persons.
The result was naturally heaven tilting and earth overturning; the magnificent island continent sank, and the thousands of cultivators and over a hundred lineages upon it were utterly extinguished, giving rise to the name "Capsized Sea." Because it bordered the Four Seas Sect, the residence of True Persons, very few blind-eyed demonic creatures dared approach.
Yet now, the scene had changed once again.
All because a divine mountain had now risen from the sea within this Capsized Sea, its Yuan Ci Divine Light illuminating the azure sky, throwing the Five Elements into chaos wherever it passed.
At this moment, just outside the divine mountain.
One could see cloud whales cleaving through waves, carrying rolling demonic qi that coalesced into dark clouds filling the sky, slowly advancing to surround the entire divine mountain in the center.
Immediately after, the cloud whales opened their mouths.
Batch after batch of shrimp soldiers and crab generals, each holding a law treasure, along with other sea demons, formed arrays and lined up, spreading out across the sea surface until it became as flat as solid ground wherever they passed.
Amidst the demonic army, a woman clad in light armor that outlined her graceful figure stood tall with head held high; between her three thousand strands of black hair sprouted a pair of tender dragon horns radiating the splendor of divine abilities, making her unmistakably the center of the sky-filling demonic host, her golden pupils burning like fire as they illuminated the surrounding seas.
It was none other than the Dragon King, Sui Ling.
Her cultivation base did not match Sui Ying's; she was only at the Mid Stage of Foundation Establishment and had refined just one innate divine ability, yet she was fully aware of this and had prepared her measures well in advance.
At this moment, gazing at the sky-filling demonic troops around her, Sui Ling narrowed her eyes in satisfaction.
"It was worth all the extra drilling I did on usual days to finally gather the soldiers and generals needed for the Heavenly Demon Commanding the Sea Great Array; this is the perfect chance to display my capabilities!"
Although Sui Ling intended to avenge Sui Ying, she knew clearly that her own cultivation was inferior to his, so this time she had deployed her entire foundation: a full 490, 00 demonic soldiers. With the array formed and her positioned at its heart, she was confident that unless a Great True Person arrived in person, she had the certainty to suppress any opponent.
"Pity my prestige is still insufficient."
"If my elder brother had personally issued the law decree and summoned demons from throughout the palace to assemble a million strong, we might have had a fighting chance even against a Great True Person!"
Beyond this, Sui Ling harbored further schemes in her heart.
This endeavor was not merely to avenge Sui Ying; it was also an opportunity to make a name for herself, gain the Dragon Lord's favor, and advance further within the Dragon Palace.
Just then, a demonic soldier suddenly reported: "Reporting to Your Highness, a group of Shi cultivators has arrived outside the array, claiming they wish to enter the mountain."
Hearing this, Sui Ling froze for a moment: "Shi cultivators? What are they doing here? Could they be here again to convert my Dragon Palace disciples to their Pure Land to become those so-called Dharma-Protecting Heavenly Dragons?"
The thought no sooner crossed her mind than Sui Ling immediately opened the array gate.
Before long, twenty-four monks with compassionate faces stepped inside, the leader among them sporting white eyebrows and wearing a golden-jade kasaya.
"Amitabha!"
Upon seeing Sui Ling, the elder monk at the front immediately pressed his palms together, chanted a Buddha's name, and then smiled lightly: "This poor monk is Hui Ku; I pay my respects to Benefactor Sui Ling."
"Rise." Sui Ling waved her hand, staring directly at the old monk and noting that his cultivation was merely at the peak of the Mid Stage of Foundation Establishment, which greatly eased her mind.
"He is not a Pure Land Venerable of the Great True Person level; surely he cannot stir up much trouble."
Thinking thus, Sui Ling calmed considerably and said in a deep voice: "Master has traveled far; may I ask what brings you here? Could it also be concerning this divine mountain?"
"No."
Hui Ku shook his head: "We have come under the Bodhisattva's law decree to respectfully invite the Great Strength Heavenly Dragon Arhat to return to his post; this person, Benefactor, must not be killed."
"... hat?"
Upon hearing this, Sui Ling quickly calculated with her fingers and immediately flushed with anger: "What 'Great Strength Heavenly Dragon Arhat'? That is clearly Yuan Tu, the Holy Sect True Person who killed Sui Ying!"
"Do you intend to obstruct me from avenging my elder brother?"
"Amitabha." Hui Ku smiled: "When will this cycle of vengeance end? Benefactor, you are attached to appearances; could it be that you also wish to accompany us to the Pure Land to cleanse your mind?"
These words instantly cooled Sui Ling down, and she caught Hui Ku's underlying meaning: they clearly expected her to cooperate obediently, capture that Yuan Tu, and hand him over to their Pure Land; if she proved uncooperative, she might well have to make a trip to the Pure Land herself to become one of those Dharma-Protecting Heavenly Dragons!
"... ery well."
Thinking thus, Sui Ling's tone weakened considerably: "Since the Pure Land desires him, let it be; when the time comes, several Masters can act on your own."
After all, entering the Pure Land was a fate worse than death, which would count as revenge enough.
Only then did Hui Ku nod in satisfaction.
Immediately, the twenty-four monks took their positions at one corner of the array; among them, twenty-one were at the Great Perfection of Qi Refining, possessing status as Dharma-Protecting Golden Bodies.
Besides Hui Ku, there were two other Arhats at the Early Stage of Foundation Establishment.
At this moment, one of the Arhats approached Hui Ku and whispered: "Senior Brother, surely we won't actually have to fight that Yuan Tu ourselves?"
Lu Yang was now famously renowned throughout the inland regions.
Especially after he publicly surpassed Ye Gu; Hui Ku had even witnessed it with his own eyes and remembered it vividly to this day, knowing all too well how formidable that great demon was.
Nevertheless, facing the Arhat's uncertain inquiry, Hui Ku remained calm: "Rest assured; this time the Bodhisattva personally issued the law decree, and all parties have already reached an agreement. Do you think that Yuan Tu is still what he was before, protected by those adults from above? He is now a plucked phoenix, worse than a chicken!"
"Without a True Person as his backer, who else can he rely on?"
"We need only wait for him to walk into our trap, let these demons bear the brunt outside, and we shall reap the rewards!"
After speaking, Hui Ku's face showed a look of smugness; after all, he had leveraged connections with several Venerables in the Pure Land to secure this excellent opportunity to earn merit.
Meanwhile, outside the Capsized Sea.
Lu Yang and Suo Huan also arrived riding beams of escaping light, but they halted from afar, gazing at the demonic clouds that filled the sky and stretched to the earth's ends, their brows slightly furrowed.
Immediately after, Suo Huan took out the Void Heaven Mirror.
The mirror faced the distant demonic clouds; brilliant light emerged, instantly revealing the scene within: besides the demonic qi, the dazzling Buddhist light of the Shi cultivators was equally glaring.
"As expected, it is the Four Seas Sect..."
Seeing this, Lu Yang shook his head, feeling the situation was far worse than anticipated; infiltrating using his Dharma Body as previously planned was clearly impossible now.
"Besides that, there are also Shi cultivators." Suo Huan's expression likewise shifted; then, glancing at Lu Yang, he said helplessly: "I fear they have come for you, Daoist Friend."
"Life is not easy for you, Daoist Friend."
Hearing this, Lu Yang stood with his hands folded, likewise smiling bitterly:
"This damn place... hell, there's no way to lie low here at all! Why force me?"
For some reason, he suddenly recalled his first few lives, the first time he faced the Peak Lord of Senior Butian, drawing his sword to slash the heavens only to be pressed to death by a single finger.
"Is heaven's will truly inescapable?"
"But how did Master Chongguang endure back then?"
In an instant, his final conversation with Master Chongguang in the Dongyang Blessed Land surged into his mind; at the time he had felt little, but now the realization struck deep:
"One must rely on oneself!"
Lu Yang's thoughts raced; first he closed his eyes, then opened them again, whereupon a chill killing intent suddenly flared in his depths as he gazed from afar at the Yuan Ci Divine Mountain.
"Yes, I can only rely on myself! I am now an abandoned piece; only by relying on my own strength to cut through all obstacles, achieving the peak of the Mid Stage of Foundation Establishment, and then using the marvelous 'Upholding the Law' aspect of the Calamity Wave to master my third innate divine ability in advance, pretending to hold the position of a Great True Person, do I have hope of breaking the current predicament and regaining the True Person's favor."
By this day, both he and Suo Huan had no ground left to retreat.
All they could do was move forward.
"... o be it."
With this thought, Lu Yang looked again at the sky-high demonic qi and dazzling Buddhist light in the distance, baring his teeth in a cold smile: "Perfect; since they make no distinction between right and wrong, I shall kill them to my heart's content!"
