Chapter 17: The Broken Cauldron Bar
"Ah, damn, Harry, you should have woken me up."
Hagrid rode his motorcycle at speed, saying to Harry behind him.
"I'm sorry, we talked late last night, I thought you needed a bit more rest," Harry said apologetically.
"Never mind, I can't blame you; I overslept myself," Hagrid said regretfully.
A gust howled past Dali's ears, and the huge noise startled many people on the road; everyone stared in shock as the motorcycle sped by, especially the rider, whose massive figure made it hard not to attract attention.
"Hagrid, where are we going now?"
Dali, sitting at the back, couldn't help asking.
"To London, to buy the items first‑year students need."
Hagrid said.
"Oh right, I forgot to show you the list."
"Harry, in the left coat pocket, there's the list of items you need to buy; you can take it out and look."
"This was supposed to be mailed to you, but Professor Dengbulido wasn't comfortable, so he sent me to take you to purchase them, and I gave it to you."
Hagrid said loudly.
Harry, hearing this, reached into Hagrid's left coat pocket, quickly pulled out a folded list, and opened it to read.
Dali looked over Harry's shoulder and could also see the list's contents.
It detailed the various items first‑year students need to purchase, mostly Spellbooks, also uniforms, and some odd things like crucibles, dragon‑skin gloves, and so on.
But what caught Dali's attention most was the wand listed among them.
"So a wand is indeed needed."
Dali thought to himself.
He glanced at Hagrid, recalling that he hadn't seen Hagrid use a wand, or even pull one out.
"I don't know if wizards need a wand to cast, perhaps there are times when they can cast without one," Dali guessed.
Harry, after reading the list, looked hesitant.
"Hagrid, I… how much do these cost?" Harry asked, his face flushing.
He truly had no money to buy them; even though Dali offered to help, they were in a hurry, and perhaps Dali hadn't brought any money.
"Oh, I almost forgot to tell you. You don't have to worry about money; you wouldn't think your parents left you nothing, would you?"
"Your money is stored in the wizard bank, a place called Gulingge; our first stop after reaching London is to go to Gulingge to withdraw cash, then we can buy you the items."
Hagrid explained with a smile.
"Wizard bank?"
Dali felt a stir inside.
Wizards indeed have their own world.
This Magic World, like the Extraordinary World of that realm, is hidden beneath the real world.
The only difference is that this Magic World seems to impose stricter limits on wizards; they rarely appear in ordinary people's lives.
"There's only one wizard bank, run by fairies."
"Fairies?" Harry asked in surprise.
"Yes, they're a kind of elf that uses fairy magic; never anger them, or the consequences are severe. Oh, to be blunt, Gulingge is the safest place in this world—no, the safest place aside from Hogwarts. If anyone tried to rob Gulingge, they'd have to be insane."
Hagrid, full of enthusiasm, introduced the Magic World to Harry and Dali.
"Fairies sound like a kind of Extraordinary Creature similar to elves."
Dali inferred in his mind.
In the afternoon, the three finally arrived in London.
Hagrid's motorcycle didn't stop, driving straight into the city, winding through twists toward a set direction.
Dali's gaze scanned the surroundings, memorizing the routes. The ability granted by the Arbiter gave him precise recall of such paths; although he had only traversed it once, Dali believed that next time he could find the destination Hagrid was leading them to on his own.
Behind the three, Vernon and Penny's car followed closely.
Finally, after speeding through the city for over twenty minutes, Hagrid brought them to a dirty bar on the corner.
"This is it, the Broken Cauldron Bar," Hagrid said, pointing at the door. "It's a famous spot; London wizards usually gather here."
Dali looked around; the bar was very inconspicuous, and if Hagrid hadn't pointed it out, Dali wouldn't have noticed it at all.
From the hurried crowd passing by, no one seemed aware there was a bar here, as if it didn't exist.
Dali blinked and activated Spiritual Sight.
His spiritual intuition told him that Extraordinary Power was at work here.
"Indeed!"
After activating Spiritual Sight, Dali saw a strange translucent aura surrounding the bar.
It enveloped the whole bar, as if pulling it away from the real world; the people around were completely unaware of the bar's existence.
"What a powerful Magic."
Dali whispered in awe.
This is an Extraordinary Ability that can directly affect others' senses; as far as he knows, among the twenty‑two paths to divinity, the Spectator path's Extraordinary Ones can achieve this.
"Let's go, we'll go inside."
After saying that, Hagrid intended to lead Harry and Dali inside the bar.
"Wait, my parents haven't arrived yet."
Dali quickly said.
He hadn't brought any money; to buy anything, his parents would have to come.
If they entered now, his parents would most likely be unable to get into the bar.
"Oh, De Si Li and the others want to go in? Fine, if they want to go in, I hope what's inside doesn't scare them."
Hagrid said with a hint of sarcasm.
Vernon, who had parked the car, and Penny finally rushed over, both looking extremely nervous, like thieves. Especially Penny, who clutched Vernon's hand tightly, her eyes darting around, fearing that others would notice the couple's association with the oddball Hagrid.
"Damn, where are you going?"
Vernon asked, his face pale.
"To take your son shopping."
Hagrid didn't want to say much more to Vernon, and led Harry straight into the Leaky Cauldron.
"Dad, Mom, let's go, it should be fine."
Dali waved at the two, and followed Hagrid into the Leaky Cauldron.
Vernon and Penny exchanged a glance, both seeing the Fear in each other's eyes, but since their son had already gone in, even if they were more Fear, they could only grit their teeth and follow.
