Chapter 7: Confrontation with the Python

~6 min read 1,123 words

If one day you die here alone, I wouldn't be surprised at all.

Harry looked at the python behind the glass, feeling empathy, and spoke softly.

In such a cramped space, every day he has to face a bunch of foolish idiots who keep tapping the glass, trying to wake the sleeping python.

This made Harry involuntarily think of himself living in the stairwell, waking up every morning to Aunt Penny's loud shouting, then going to make breakfast for the family.

However, at least he could still move around the house and go to school, while this python before him might forever be confined to this narrow cage.

Suddenly, the python that had been sleeping with its eyes closed opened its bright little eyes, slowly raising its head until it was level with Harry's eyes.

Looking at the python gazing back at him through the glass, Harry involuntarily held his breath.

The python blinked at Harry.

Harry was shocked; the python seemed able to understand his words.

He quickly glanced around to see if anyone was noticing him.

Immediately, he turned his head back to the giant python and blinked at it as well.

"I always run into many foolish humans."

The python flicked its tongue and said slowly.

Harry sucked in a breath and quickly said, "I know, you must be annoyed by those foolish humans."

The giant python nodded firmly.

Harry was delighted; he could actually talk to a python, and it could understand him—this was truly wonderful.

For a moment, he even felt that the python was an old friend he hadn't seen in a while.

"So, where are you from?" Harry asked quickly.

Having a conversational friend felt so great that it seemed the whole world didn't matter at that moment; only Harry and the python surrounded him.

The giant python swung its tail and tapped the small sign on the glass window.

Python, Brazil.

"How is it there?" Harry asked enthusiastically.

The giant python again tapped the small sign on the glass window with its tail: "Breeding specimen inside the zoo."

"Oh, I see, you've never been to Brazil... Actually, I've never seen my own parents either; they..."

Before Harry's words had finished, a deafening shout suddenly came from nearby, startling both Harry and the giant python.

"Dali, Dali, come look, come look at this python—you'll never guess what it's doing!!!"

Pi Er shouted loudly.

He had just seen Harry talking to that python, which was truly amazing.

Bang.

Pi Er, who came rushing over, directly knocked Harry flying, causing him to fall to the ground.

Although Pi Er himself was skinny, his strength was much greater than Harry's.

In the distance, Dali frowned, watching all of this.

He had also just seen Harry seemingly talking to the giant python inside the glass display; that was nothing unusual—kids always babble at animals.

But what surprised Dali was that the giant python was actually responding to Harry; the boy and the snake seemed to be communicating in some mysterious language.

Originally, Dali intended to activate his Spiritual Sight to observe properly, but Pi Er's sudden appearance disrupted everything.

Dali furrowed his brow and walked over there.

This Pi Er, who had already been told not to bully Harry, still knocked him flying; it seems we need to give him a clear warning.

Harry, knocked to the ground, glared angrily at Pi Er sprawled on the glass display; he felt like he was about to explode with rage, wanting to jump up and give him a beating regardless of consequences, which almost made him lose his sanity.

"How wonderful, this is truly wonderful—the python actually understands human speech, my goodness!"

Pi Er was overjoyed; lying on the glass, he kept moving, trying to get closer to the giant python to observe what miraculous quality it possessed.

Hum.

Suddenly, at that moment, the glass blocking Pi Er in front vanished, causing the person lying on the glass to lose balance and tumble straight into the display.

Plop, Pi Er plunged headfirst into the pool inside, splashing a large sheet of water.

"Hmm?"

Dali's face changed.

He stared in shock at the vanished glass, momentarily unable to react.

"What's going on? How did that glass suddenly disappear? What happened?"

Dali was astonished.

At that moment, he even felt as if he had returned to that strange world.

But everything here is completely different from that world.

"Ahhh..."

A panicked cry came.

Pi Er, who had just come into close contact with the giant python, was now scared witless.

Letting him admire the python from outside the display and letting him have zero-distance contact with it are two entirely different concepts.

Hiss...

The giant python flicked its tongue, gave no second glance to the fallen Pi Er, quickly extended its body out of the railing, swam out, and headed toward the fallen Harry.

"Watch out!"

Seeing this, Dali had no time to think, quickly quickening his pace.

Although the python seemed not hostile toward Harry, who knows what a python might do; Harry's small frame couldn't withstand the python's tossing.

As an Extraordinary One, Dali's physique is already enhanced; moreover, as an Arbiter he possesses excellent combat skills, giving him reaction speed far above that of ordinary people.

In a single stride, Dali rushed straight to Harry's face and blocked the python.

Hiss—

The giant python flicked its scarlet tongue, staring at Dali.

And Dali, too, coldly gazed at the giant python, the snake and the man locking eyes in midair.

At this moment, Harry, frightened, stood completely frozen in place.

The surge of anger, the glass that suddenly vanished, the approaching python, and Dali rushing over—all of this left him overwhelmed.

"Get lost."

Dali spoke coldly, his words full of menace, making the python sense a strong aura of danger.

The chubby-looking human child before him seemed to possess a power that made him feel fear.

Dali clenched his fists, muscles tensed; if the arbiter's authority could not drive back this python, he would have to prepare for close combat.

Fortunately, the arbiter had granted him combat ability, and his various experiences in the Guiyi Shijie had given him ample experience; he was not afraid of such a battle scene, and even felt a surge of hot-blooded excitement.

The python hesitated for a moment, moved its body, and slithered away to the side, no longer continuing to stare down Dali.

As it passed not far from Harry, the python glanced at Harry.

"Thank you."

Harry understood its words and instinctively replied, "You're welcome."

"Be careful of this human."

The python's bright eyes glanced toward Dali's direction; this was its final advice to the little boy who had helped it escape its cage.
