Chapter 250: Prophecy
"What... are you saying?" Snape was stunned, swaying his dizzy head, "I think you're the one... who's drunk."
"We have Magic, remember?" Murphy said.
"Magic isn't, uh... isn't all-powerful!" Snape shouted, his voice suddenly soaring, "Only those... who haven't explored the depths of Magic are the stupid... idiots who think Magic can... do anything!"
"Perhaps you just shrank from that difficulty," Murphy said.
"You... you know... nothing!" Snape planted both hands on the table, as if trying to lift himself up, but couldn't.
"The Magic I know is far more than you've ever heard! As for death, I... know far more than you can... imagine! I've encountered things you... haven't even dreamed of... uh, haven't imagined..."
He looked as if he were about to vomit.
"That's enough," Murphy decided to ask the question, "So, the Immortality Potion—it's said the Immortality Potion can be used to revive, right?"
"Y-yes..." Snape sat down, looking as if he were about to fall asleep, "No, it can only revive flesh, the body..."
"Oh? Are you sure?" Murphy asked, "Can you make the Immortality Potion? What's its recipe?"
"I can't make it; it requires... requires Magic... stone... but I know the... recipe..."
"It's not... difficult... like Nishi snake's skin, plus fire lizard blood, plus unicorn horn powder, toad tadpoles..."
After a while, he finally finished reciting the recipe, and Murphy memorized it, "With these, can you revive the flesh?"
"No, the Immortality Potion can't directly resurrect a body; it needs to be combined with... another kind of elixir... but only Voldemort knows that... he has never told me..."
Murphy nodded slightly.
It's okay; even without the formula for the body-rebuilding elixir, the Immortality Potion alone is enough.
He was about to have Snape repeat it to verify the recipe when a sound came from outside, "Whoa!"
Then a few thuds sounded, as if someone had fallen.
…
Hearing Snape's heartfelt confession to his mother, Harry didn't know what he felt.
His mind was a tangled mess.
But at the same time, he also understood some things.
No wonder Professor McGonagall said Snape and his father were enemies; it was because they both liked his mother—they were rivals in love.
That also explains why Snape hated him so much—Sirius had said he looked almost exactly like James.
At the same time, he also grasped the meaning behind Snape's look when he handed him the antidote earlier today.
He saw his mother in himself.
But Harry couldn't yet feel Snape's deep love for Lily; he only felt a chill, even fear and a kind of humiliating anger.
As a result, his excitement caused him to accidentally knock over a cup.
However, fortunately the few of them—Harry, Ron, Hermione, Tom, and now Qiu Zhang—were all hidden beneath the Invisibility Cloak, so they didn't attract much attention.
Luckily they're still only first- or second-year; if they were older, this Invisibility Cloak really couldn't hide so many people.
They had originally come to find Murphy; after traveling through the Duke of Bees' tunnel to Hogsmeade, they headed straight for the Three Broomsticks. After much effort they finally found Murphy, only to discover he was drinking with Snape. The young Wizards hid in the next room to eavesdrop on their conversation, and ended up hearing the explosive news that Snape liked Harry's mother.
Hearing that, everyone saw Harry was in a bad mood and prepared to leave, but Snape then revealed the Immortality Potion's recipe, which immediately attracted Tom.
He really needed that thing.
Upon hearing that the resurrection formula was with Voldemort, Tom decided to reluctantly go back and ask the diary.
Since it calls itself Voldemort, it should know the resurrection formula, right?
Having obtained crucial information, they were about to leave when a "huh?" sound came from behind them.
Hagrid, who had been drinking with a few professors on the other side of the hall, heard that Murphy had brought Snape to the tavern, so he went to fetch the two for a couple of drinks at the main table. He arrived at the partition door, but as soon as he reached the doorway, he saw something strange.
It was a foot.
A lone foot, without an upper body or attached to a leg, and it looked somehow familiar.
"Ron, that's your foot!" Hermione whispered urgently.
As the air rippled gently like water, the foot suddenly vanished.
Hagrid rubbed his eyes, thinking he was seeing things, and instinctively stepped forward, bending down to get a better look.
The young Wizards hurried to the side, but the tavern was crowded with tables and chairs; five of them squeezed under a cloak, inevitably bumping into things. In the chaos, they didn't know who stepped on whose foot, and with a yelp, all five tumbled to the floor with a clatter.
"Lily—no, Harry?!" The cloak was tossed aside, and Hagrid naturally saw Harry, astonished.
"Shh..." Harry and Ron quickly got up, "Shh, keep it down, Hagrid..."
"What are you doing here? You're not even in third year yet..." Hagrid, also quite drunk, his face flushed, didn't notice the two were desperately hinting at him.
"Harry Potter! You should be in the school infirmary!" Professor McGonagall appeared, apparently also drunk, but still sternly looking at them, "And Weasley, Miss Granger! Tom! Oh, Miss Qiu Zhang! This is... how did you...?"
"We... we came to find Professor McGonagall..."
"Who called me?" Murphy pushed open the partition door, "Oh, everyone's here, it's lively."
On the table behind him, Snape was already lying on it, asleep. Murphy had just, taking advantage of the outside commotion, cast Legilimency on Snape to compare the recipe, then gave him an Obliviation Charm—under this condition Snape couldn't possibly use any Occlumency.
Anyway, afterward he would just think he had a blackout, with no further doubts.
"Harry?" Murphy looked at the girl Harry, "Why are you outside?"
"I wanted you to see if this bottle of antidote has any issues..."
"Oh, what's this?" Professor Fu Li Wei picked up the Invisibility Cloak from the ground, "What a rare treasure."
"You're wearing Invisibility Cloaks, hiding outside; you intend to eavesdrop on the professors' conversation," said a wildly crazy-looking professor. Qiu Zhang recognized her as Professor Te Li Lao Ni, who is said to teach Divination.
"No, we didn't..." Ron quickly denied.
"Oh, don't try to fool a seer's eyes, child..." Professor Te Li Lao Ni, apparently also drunk, smiled foolishly, "I already see that you'll have terrible luck today, child."
"...", Ron rolled his eyes, "Now as long as our eyes aren't blind, we all know we're in for bad luck, right?"
Indeed, Professor McGonagall raised an eyebrow, "Detention! Leaving school without permission! Appearing in a tavern! Daring to eavesdrop on professors! Audacious! Detention! Ten points off each!"
"No, that's not it, Professor..." the young Wizards tried to explain.
"Everyone go back to the school! Hagrid, you escort them back!" Professor McGonagall flatly ignored their explanations.
"Wait, let me perform a divination for them," Te Li Lao Ni said suddenly; she was probably really drunk, seemed eager to show off her foresight, waved toward Hermione, "Come here, child."
"Oh, you don't look well, little girl, misfortune is upon you; if I may say, now you shouldn't leave the school, stay inside the school properly…"
Hermione's complexion was, of course, bad; she had been caught breaking school rules and even lost ten points, and her brows were about to knit into a deep frown.
"As for you, child," Te Li Lao Ni approached Tom again, "bad, too bad… death, might even be death… heavens, dreadful destiny…"
"Alright, Professor Te Li Lao Ni, now let…" Murphy didn't want to listen to Te Li Lao Ni's ramblings, was about to interrupt her performance, when suddenly his wrist was tightly grasped.
"Professor?!" One of Tom's hands was also seized by Te Li Lao Ni.
"Disaster!" she shrieked suddenly, "Terrible disaster!"
"I saw… the Savior… he is a child born of death, his darkness stems from past ages, the 'Prophet' will grant him endless wisdom, and leave a key to him in the secret chamber… he will solve that puzzle, glimpse the future… he will be resurrected after death, walking toward the destiny of the Savior."
Murphy:???
Wo Te Fa?!
"Wasn't I the one who made this prophecy?!"
