Chapter 350: Soul Meat Machine

~6 min read 1,139 words

Early June.

The first Magic Power radar was finally completed.

In the outskirts of Staffordshire, a hill six kilometers from the Mansion was bought by a shell company, surrounded by a fence several meters high, and the slopes were saturated with massive Muggle Repelling Spells.

However, given the radar's huge Magic Power fluctuations, the Muggle Repelling Spell might fail, so a hemispherical mobile dome still encloses the radar, opening only when the radar operates to minimize the chance of being seen by Muggles.

At this moment, in the control room, Murphy, Lukas and a group of senior scientists from the Magic Research Institute gathered here to witness the final completion of this large magical‑technological device.

At nine p. m., night fell, and Murphy said, "Let's begin."

After more than a dozen basic tests, project chief Bo Na De·Man Ning smoothly took the microphone, "Magic Power Radar No. 1 activation test, commencing now, power up!"

A row of indicator lights before Murphy began lighting up one by one, each lamp representing a wizard in the radar's Energy Department; there were two hundred of them.

The two hundred wizards breathed evenly in a prearranged order, then channelled their Magic Power into a magical metal conduit.

Soon, eight rows, each with twenty‑five lamps, were all lit.

"Energy Department, Magic Power output normal," a technician reported.

"Magic frequency tuning commencing," Lukas beside Murphy said, pressing a button nearby.

Instantly, two hundred streams of Magic Power fed into the data unit at the radar's base, where Lukas would unify their tuning, consolidating the unstable, moment‑by‑moment fluctuations into a single stable flow.

After a dozen seconds, Lukas exhaled slightly, "Initial tuning complete, the radar is now in launch‑ready state."

The hemispherical dome opened to both sides, revealing the massive antenna inside.

"Magic frequency: 30 MHz, loading primal manifestation spell, scan radius 1,000 km, scan angle: full," Murphy said, "Begin scanning!"

Instantly, the Magic Power retuned by Lukas was unified again, fed into the main transmitting antenna, and an invisible wave radiated from the parabolic radar, instantly reaching thousands of kilometers away.

In an instant, the wizards along the scan path felt an inexplicable shiver.

The scan began due west, encompassing England, Ireland, the Irish Sea, and parts of the Atlantic Ocean, then rotated counter‑clockwise, crossing the Atlantic to France, then Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, even southern Norway, covering the entire North Sea, before completing a full circle and returning to due west.

After half an hour, it had scanned an area of one million square kilometers.

"Scan complete, radar operating normal, all our receiving stations have picked up the radar signal, signal strength within expected range," Bo Na De reported.

"Very good." Murphy looked at Lukas, "How are the scan results, how long to finish analysis?"

"Analysis is done," Lukas said, "There are over twenty reflection points, but most are total reflections from strong Magic Power zones like various Ministries of Magic, Hogwarts, wizard congregations, etc. Excluding those, we've identified three strong feedback locations: one in the middle of the North Sea, one in Germany, and one in Ireland."

"Oh? Mark these locations and send an Auror to investigate what they are."

The order was dispatched immediately; Lukas looked at him, "Sir, what's next?"

Murphy thought for a moment; relying on this human‑powered, relocatable radar seemed a stretch, but its ultra‑strong signal transmission could be used for more than just Magic Power scanning.

"Adjust the radar's direction toward France; I'll run an experiment."

A few minutes later, the radar finished reorienting to the coordinates Murphy gave, retuned its Magic Power, and a wave was emitted southeast.

Murphy immediately seized control of the radar via Lukas's Soul Seed, mixing his own Magic Power into the wave as it was launched, and then he located a coordinate in the mental network.

The Magic Power traveled a thousand kilometers via the radar to southern France, linking with that coordinate.

In the next instant, his consciousness crossed the thousand‑kilometer Magic link and entered another person's mind.

……

France, Loire Valley, Murphy opened his eyes.

He took out a mirror and looked at himself.

He had become a middle‑aged male wizard with a pair of handlebar mustaches, wearing a gaudy purple robe, and a crooked wizard hat resembling a bath cap.

Si Nan De·Tuo Li, a French wizard spy Murphy had once captured.

Murphy implanted a Soul Seed into his mind; now, via the ultra‑band, long‑range communication line built with Magic antennas, he solved the Soul Seed's bandwidth limitation and his will directly seized the body.

The sensation was odd, as if he had another body, but the principle was simple: using a Soul Seed that had gained the target's high‑level root access, he turned the person into a "Soul Meat Machine."

He turned his head, looked around, and found himself sitting at a round table.

Across the table, a fat man spoke, "I heard something happened over at Dumbledore's; several of his subordinates died. He tried to deal with Murphy but failed. I'm preparing a vote to impeach Dumbledore as chairman; he's clearly old and has forgotten how to win a war."

"Agree!"

"Agree."

"Let's propose it at tomorrow's assembly; I can bring two more people, the proposal should pass without issue."

The fat man nodded, "I hope everyone will support me as the new chairman; I'll persuade the Union to wage war on the British wizarding community, and as a reward, after killing Murphy, each of you can claim your share."

The group agreed again, and the fat man looked at Murphy, "What do you say, Si Nan De?"

"I have no comment," Murphy said, "By the way, where is tomorrow's Union meeting being held?"

"What's wrong, have you had too much to drink?" the person beside him shook his head, "Olausburg, 9 a. m., don't get drunk again."

"Oh, no problem. How many wizards will be there?"

"Impeachment and election of a chairman require approval from more than half of the Wizards' Union board, at least a hundred people. Even if the chairman is absent, the proposal and impeachment agenda still stand; we only need to inform our own members. About eighty percent of Dumbledore's die‑hard followers will cause trouble, but they're few and won't be decisive."

"Will Dumbledore come?"

"We'll make sure to keep him occupied so he won't appear."

Murphy nodded, "So tomorrow's attendees will be only us, the guys who want to start a war and kill Murphy, and Dumbledore's die‑hard fans?"

*tsk*.

This is damn overly polite; none of them even have to make the trip themselves.

He originally planned to use this Soul Meat Chicken to set off a human bomb at the venue tomorrow, but then thought of a better idea.

It seems the United States still has two missile destroyers nearby.
