Chapter 418: Resurrection
Jacqueline and the others were discovered almost as soon as they entered the door.
There were too many people in the Parliament Building, so to avoid suddenly appearing next to a Muggle, they didn't use Apparition but instead walked through the front door openly.
The moment the door opened without wind, the guards who had been watching the movements everywhere in the monitor room immediately reported the situation.
"Damn it, they're in! I can't see them!" a guard said.
"Protect the councilors!" The security captain came to the fire control box, smashed the glass, and pressed a red button. An alarm immediately sounded throughout the Parliament Building, and at the same time, all the smoke detectors were triggered, and water began to spray everywhere.
Jacqueline was startled by the sudden alarm and was drenched, which made her panic, and the Disillusionment Charm on them became unstable under the washing of the water.
A guard in the hallway saw a strange, chaotic color suddenly appear under the curtain of rain, flickering constantly. He immediately hid behind a corner and shouted, "I see them! They're in the first-floor hallway! Their invisibility ability has failed!"
"Intruders! Remove your disguises! Otherwise, I will open fire!"
"They've discovered us!" a young wizard shouted. "Jacqueline, what do we do?"
"The Prime Minister is having a meeting on the second floor. Apparition!"
This time they had finally done their homework and knew where the President was meeting.
After Jacqueline finished speaking, she Apparated directly to the second floor. When they were searching for the President earlier, they had explored the entire building, so now that they had been discovered, there was no need to worry about anything.
The Disillusionment Charm on them had failed. When the guards turned from the corner with their guns, they only saw a few weirdos in black robes suddenly twist and disappear from sight, and they couldn't help but widen their eyes.
In this world, there really are superpowers?!
In the second-floor conference room, the Prime Minister and several cabinet members were hiding under the table. The security captain heard the report in his earpiece and immediately shouted, "They're coming! Prepare for combat!"
Several gunshots suddenly rang out outside the door; clearly, the guards in the hallway had already engaged with the other side.
"Jerson is wounded!" someone exclaimed.
"Use Protego!" a female voice said.
Then, various unintelligible shouts rang out, as if they were some kind of spell, and then a cry of surprise followed: "Magic! They can use magic! Requesting support, please..."
"Boom!" With a loud noise, the door was blown open.
"Open fire!" the security captain roared. Immediately, dense gunfire rang out in the room, but several office desks floated at the doorway, actually blocking all the bullets. Then, those heavy office desks were thrown over, and the guards had to dodge to the side.
"Incendio!" A burst of flames sprayed from somewhere, directly onto a guard's face. The latter immediately let out a miserable scream, and blisters rose on his face.
"Bang!" Suddenly, a grenade thrown by a guard exploded at the entrance, and at the same time, a scream rang out, "My leg! My leg!"
"Kostin! Damn it!" The Armor Charm on Jacqueline blocked the aftermath of the grenade explosion, but Kostin was unlucky; he was standing right next to the grenade and was hit head-on. His Armor Charm wasn't enough to withstand an attack of this magnitude, and it was broken. One of his legs was riddled with metal shrapnel, and he was in so much pain he almost fainted.
"Damn Muggles!" Jacqueline was furious. This whole thing had been full of setbacks from the beginning. These were supposed to be stupid Muggles they could manipulate at will, but they had caused trouble repeatedly, and now they had actually wounded a wizard!
Damn it! This bunch of guys who aren't even as good as Squibs! Wouldn't it be better if they just obediently got wiped out like gnomes!
Thinking of this, she raised her wand. "Fiendfyre!"
Whatever bullshit Prime Minister, whatever bullshit Muggles, let them all die under Fiendfyre!
After casting Fiendfyre, Jacqueline grabbed Kostin, who was still screaming, and Apparated away.
On the other side, outside the Quirinal Palace, countless special police had surrounded the Presidential Palace.
Above, two armed helicopters were circling, and several high points in the distance had been occupied by snipers. They were closely watching the movements in the President's office.
"People inside, you have been surrounded. Put down the President, and we can let you leave." The voice of a negotiation expert came from the helicopter's loudspeaker.
In the President's office, the curtains were drawn tightly. Four young people in black robes were holding a middle-aged man with a bruised face in the middle, and one of them was pointing a small wooden stick at the man's temple.
"Let go of Brat! Otherwise, I'll blow your President's head into a pulp!" the young wizard shouted.
But squatting opposite them was a man in a black suit. His left arm was clamped around the neck of the wizard named Brat, and in his right hand was a pistol, also pointed at the other's head.
"You let go of the President first. My bullets are faster than your spells!" the President's bodyguard said coldly, seemingly not caring about the President's life at all.
Earlier, the wizards had infiltrated the Quirinal Palace without much effort. As the President's office, there weren't many people there, and they soon found the man called the President in the largest room.
But this person didn't look like the person in the photo. However, they still decided to take the person away, which wasn't a problem. Taking advantage of the President's guest reception break, they brought the person to the barn without much effort.
However, only Jacqueline could use the Imperius Curse, so everyone had to wait for Jacqueline to return. But the President had recovered from the panic of being kidnapped, and after discovering that the other side was just a group of young people in their twenties, he began to try to talk to them.
How could these young wizards, who knew almost nothing about Muggle society, be a match for a shrewd President? After just a few minutes, the President successfully convinced several of them that he fully supported the young wizards' idea of wizards ruling Muggles, and that as long as they sent him back to the Presidential Palace, he would immediately summon his most trusted subordinates to announce this decision, granting them supreme power.
"As long as you let me continue to be President, I can help you manage this country."
The President's reaction was very much in line with the young wizards' impression of greasy Muggle politicians, so they didn't suspect much and brought the President back to the office.
Then, they were surrounded by the guard regiment, and after a chaotic battle, it turned into the current situation.
Okai was annoyed. Brat had been accidentally grabbed by the other side. Although they could escape at any time, Brat would fall into the other side's hands. Just as he was hesitating, Okai suddenly felt a heart-palpitating fear, and he almost subconsciously tilted his head.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Several gunshots rang out almost simultaneously. Two of the four wizards who had been holding the President were hit by bullets flying in from outside the window, their lives unknown. Only Okai and another wizard, Bax, who was in a blind spot, were spared.
But the bodyguard in the black suit opposite seemed to have expected this and immediately pulled out his gun to shoot at the two.
Before Bax could pull out his wand, he was hit in the head. Okai managed to cast an Armor Charm in time to block the bullets, but he was already scared out of his wits and didn't dare to stay, Apparating away.
But just as Okai escaped, Jacqueline and the remaining wizards rushed over. They had originally come to save people, but as soon as they arrived, they saw the Muggles carrying the corpses of several of their companions.
