Chapter 455: The beginning of a new world
The gods all showed disdain for the person who came.
More than a hundred years ago, Odin was besieged while fighting the mountain giant Thjazi of the Vanir. Just as he was about to die, a god of the Vanir suddenly turned against him, killed Thjazi, and saved Odin's life. Thus, this god of the Vanir was accepted into Asgard, became a member of the Aesir, and called Odin brother.
This god is the one in front of us, his name: Loki.
However, Loki's behavior was unruly and extremely arrogant, and he was already disliked by the gods. Plus, he was a traitor who betrayed his own pantheon, and he was regarded as a despicable villain by many gods of the Aesir, so they looked down on him even more.
"Loki!" Thor looked at the other party, "You still dare to come back?!"
Before, Loki challenged Thor. During the battle, Loki actually used a dagger to cut off the full head of golden hair of Thor's wife—the Goddess of Youth, Sif—almost making Thor want to tear him to pieces. Loki probably also felt that something was wrong, so he hurriedly promised that he could find a skilled craftsman to create a golden hair for Sif that could grow like real hair, and then fled.
Now seeing him come back, Thor naturally wanted to question him.
"Don't be anxious, nephew Thor," Loki said, "This time I have brought back quite a few good things from the dwarves."
He said, suddenly throwing the long spear in his hand. The golden spear pierced Odin like a meteor. The gods were all shocked, but Odin sat steadily. Only a "thud" was heard, and the long spear pierced into the throne beside Odin's cheek, piercing a hole in the indestructible throne.
"Once this spear is thrown, it will inevitably hit. Nothing can pierce it. With it, your enemies will be scared even in their dreams. This is a gift for you, my brother."
Odin pulled the long spear from the throne and weighed it in his hand, feeling the magic hidden within. He was also quite satisfied in his heart. As long as the divine power is weaker than him, even a god can hardly avoid his attack. No matter when the Twilight of the Gods arrives, with such a weapon, his chance of winning will be a bit greater.
Then, Loki took a golden boat from the cloth bag. This boat could be put into his arms or enlarged thousands of times, loaded with thousands of troops. This boat was gifted by him to Freyr, the God of Sunlight.
Subsequently, he took out an iron hammer and handed it to Thor. This hammer could also be enlarged and shrunk, and it could fly back to his hand after being thrown, and could also borrow Thor's divine power to release powerful thunder.
The bag even contained a wild boar that was pure gold all over, running with golden light, which was very majestic.
Seeing that Thor couldn't wait any longer, Loki took out a golden hair from the bag and put it on Sif. Then he cast magic, and all the golden threads were connected to the broken hair roots of Sif, as soft and fit as real hair, making the goddess look even more radiant than before.
The gifts were all sent out, and everyone was happy, but Loki took out something from his pocket and held it high.
"Although every treasure I brought back today is extraordinary, compared to what I have in my hand, it is still like a firefly compared to the sun and moon."
Seeing that the gods were all attracted, Loki said: "That legend, you have all heard of it, right?"
"I am very curious about what is so different about the gold at the bottom of the Rhine, so I swam through that river, wanting to find those gold," Loki said, "But before I could find them, I found a dwarf, who wandered in a cave at the bottom of the Rhine all day. I asked him about the location of the Rhine gold, but he said that the gold had been made into a treasure by him."
"The dwarf was very nervous. I just asked a few more questions, and he thought I was going to snatch his treasure and fought with me. I killed him and then found the thing he hid."
"Seeing its shape, I knew it was that thing in the legend."
Saying this, Loki spread his palm and displayed the ring in it for all the gods to see.
"Nibelungen Ring," a god exclaimed, "The power of the legend is so powerful that this ring has actually appeared!"
"Although I don't know the name of that dwarf, this ring does contain huge power," Loki said, "I feel that as long as I wear it, I can become the king of the world. But I know I have no way to control such powerful power, so I dedicate it to you, my brother."
After Loki finished speaking, he held the ring and came to Odin, handing the ring to the latter.
Odin hesitated for a moment. He intuitively felt that things were too coincidental, and if it developed according to the legend, this ring would bring destruction. He didn't want to accept it.
But there was indeed a power in the ring, and that power was so vast that it seemed as long as he wore it, all problems would be solved.
Is it to choose to believe in that legend and destroy the ring, or to choose to believe that he can control this power and thus avoid the arrival of the Twilight of the Gods?
Odin hesitated for a moment.
However, at this moment, he saw the expressions of the gods below.
Their eyes were firmly attracted by the ring.
It seems that it is not just him; all the gods present can sense that power.
Odin felt a chill in his heart. This authority that was within reach, if he gave it up, who could guarantee that it wouldn't be snatched by other gods and used to deal with him?
Thinking of this, he grabbed the ring in his hand.
In an instant, he felt as if a big hole had been opened in his palm, and the terrible suction force surged out from the ring, crazily extracting his divine power.
Odin was shocked and almost roared, but at this moment, the suction force stopped abruptly.
Immediately after, he felt his perception expanded a thousand times, as if the entire Valhalla temple was under his gaze, and as long as he was willing, he could even expand his perception to the entire Asgard, and even as he continued to inject divine power into the ring, he gradually saw a huge network, spreading all the way to the mortal world.
And his power could also extend to extremely distant places along this vein. With a thought, he could see the scene thousands of miles away, or throw his long spear onto anyone's head thousands of miles away.
Even though he could do similar things through the eyes of deep believers in the past, that would consume vast divine power and was far from being as free as it was now.
This ring seemed to multiply his divine power, making him feel for the first time that he truly controlled the world.
"Odin, you should destroy the ring!" Queen Frigg said, "Bringing it to Valhalla will help that legend become reality!"
"No, Frigg, this ring will become our weapon against the Twilight of the Gods."
"Odin, wake up, it is making you greedy!" The Queen looked at the other gods in the temple, "It makes us all greedy, this will cause disaster!"
Odin froze for a moment. This was indeed what was predicted in that legend.
But soon, he threw this problem to the back of his mind.
Even without that legend, the Twilight of the Gods would inevitably come. If one says that the ring will cause disaster, then all things that can bring power will cause disaster. Does he have to destroy his own long spear? Does he have to hand over his throne and divine power?
"You are wrong, Frigg."
"This is our opportunity. We can use this power to defeat those enemies. Perhaps we can use it to survive the disaster of the Twilight of the Gods."
Frigg knew that Odin's mind was made up and could no longer be shaken. She sighed and looked at Loki under the stage.
"You evil god! You brought the seeds of destruction!"
"Destruction?" Loki revealed a ferocious laugh under the god patterns, "Whose destruction?"
"Their destruction is our rebirth. What I offered is clearly the beginning of a new world."
