Chapter 86: Boss Double Immunity Maxed?
The willow wood wand was jerked by some force and flew back into Murphy's hand.
I see.
This is wandless magic.
But there's no time to marvel at that now—Murphy waved his wand and said, "Reparo!"
With a series of cracks, he felt his left side twisted as if several hands were wringing it again; amid the excruciating pain, his bones realigned and muscles reconnected. He then waved his wand again and shouted, "Skele-Gro fly! White Fresh fly!"
A broken bottle of Skele-Gro and a half‑shattered tube that still held some White Fresh Essence flew from somewhere and landed in his hand.
He quickly sprinkled them onto his wound in turn.
Skele-Gro hastened the knitting of his bones, while the White Fresh Essence—an enhanced version refined again by the Baiyao R&D Center—worked extraordinarily well; after just a few seconds of unbearable tingling, it healed his wound.
Murphy let out a breath of relief.
By the way, why did all these potions break?
He didn't dwell on it; it didn't matter—what he had was enough for now. He got up and went to check on Selica.
Aside from some scrapes, the girl had no external injuries, but the black patch on her chest had spread to her neck; when he opened her clothes, he saw her chest was completely darkened.
Are her symptoms worse?
How could it happen so suddenly?
But he quickly realized it was probably due to his own Apparition mishap—his original destination had been outside the village, and although a village magic intercepted him, it might have triggered the curse inside him, causing the plague bacteria to spread rapidly.
Murphy took out an injection and jabbed it directly into Selica's chest, hoping it would ease her condition.
Suddenly, a space before him twisted, and Joachim's ghost stepped out, still clutching his wand.
"DivineSharpNoShadow!" The spell passed straight through the ghost, having no effect whatsoever.
"Stupefy!" Still useless.
"Expelliarmus!"
This time the ghost finally reacted, waving its wand to block it.
Then, with a backhand, it cast Flying Sand and Stones.
It seemed to be very fond of that spell.
Murphy blocked it with an Armor Spell, already preparing to retreat.
He couldn't hurt it; the opponent was immune to damage, essentially invincible.
He grabbed Selica and Apparated again, this time hiding in a civilian house he had driven past before.
He laid Selica on the ground, patted her face, then summoned some water with Aguamenti and sprayed it on her face, barely managing to wake her.
Selica felt extremely weak, her chest heavy, breathing painful, her whole body aching, her face damp, and she whispered, "Am I going to die?"
"You won't die."
"White Medicine fly!"
A bottle of Cloud White Pharmaceutical Spray flew from his suitcase into Murphy's hand, but when he caught it he saw the bottle was punctured, leaving only half the liquid inside.
Hmm?
Murphy stared in disbelief at his suitcase.
"No way."
He climbed into his suitcase and was shocked to find it in utter disarray.
Several potion racks were knocked over, his experimental equipment smashed and scattered everywhere, basically falling apart; his weapons and gear were strewn about, bullets, grenades, and machine parts mixed together, and somewhere an explosion and fire must have occurred, as he saw some manuals reduced to ash.
Hiss…
All this must have happened when his suitcase was flung out.
Murphy's Undetectable Extension Charm Case was nowhere near as advanced as Newt's; it couldn't become an independent space. When closed, the case's internal magic could still counteract external forces like gravity and acceleration.
But when its opening was unsealed, the outside physical environment would affect the items inside just the same.
In other words, when his case rolled on the ground a few times, it was roughly equivalent to tossing those devices, potions, weapons, and explosives about in a warehouse‑sized space…
It would be surprising if they weren't smashed.
Given the situation, a full repair was impossible, but Murphy still had to try: "Reparo!"
A astonishing sight unfolded before Murphy's eyes as countless fragments, pulled by some mysterious force, assembled themselves; scattered objects returned to their proper places, and moments later he had a suitcase that looked much tidier.
However, most of the experimental equipment remained broken, the spilled potions did not come back, and the scorch marks in the corner plus the manuals still half‑gray proved that some things simply hadn't been repaired.
This was actually to be expected.
The information‑entropy change caused by those explosions, fires, and solution mixings was far greater than that from broken bottles, fallen racks, or displaced bullets and grenades.
According to Huo Er Dan's Probability Payment Hypothesis, restoring such a phenomenon would require far more magical power.
It was even more than Murphy could afford at the moment, so the Magic Net tactfully overlooked that request.
As for that, Murphy could only be glad he'd used C4 to take down the bird‑beaked weirdo; otherwise, if C4 had exploded in the warehouse, it might have set off the grenades and such, and he'd probably never be able to reassemble all this stuff in one piece.
Murphy furrowed his brows and checked what remained once more.
Other things didn't matter, but if the equipment and solvents used to produce the T cells for treating Selica failed, her life would be in trouble.
Yet after checking everything he discovered that the antibody magnetic beads used to activate and separate the T cells were gone—those micrometer‑sized beads had been scattered somewhere and not recovered.
Without antibody magnetic beads, he couldn't activate or sort the T cells, and thus couldn't prepare the final product.
He crawled out of the case, momentarily unsure how to speak to Selica.
She read his expression and asked, "Is there no way to cure me?"
Murphy's earlier idea had been that if he killed all the zombies and then cured Selica's plague, her curse would lift naturally.
Then, by dispelling the magic barrier that prevented living beings from leaving, they could go home.
But now Selica's symptoms had worsened; the remaining antibiotics alone might not suffice, and with Joachim's ghost interfering, wiping out the remaining zombies would be no easy feat.
The method of lifting the Curse by fulfilling the Curse's conditions probably won't work.
Murphy pondered for a moment, "There's still another way!"
"Find the Soul Seed's Spell and alter your Curse!"
After that, once we break the Magic Barrier, we can bring Selica out; and once we're outside, a mere plague is nothing to worry about.
Although the sequence has changed, oddly, what they need to do hasn't fundamentally changed.
"But what about that Ghost? He certainly won't let us do these things smoothly..."
Yeah.
There's a Final Boss immune to both physical and magical attacks guarding it, and yet we still want to steal its home—how overly fanciful.
How could the Wizarding World have such a buggy thing? As a Ghost, something likely similar to an energy entity, why can it still use a wand and Magic?
Huh?
Wait.
An energy entity, yet it can use a wand and Magic.
This setting feels somewhat familiar.
