Chapter 19

~6 min read 1,181 words

It was already late at night after dealing with Paki.

Darren’s child-sized body finally felt drowsy; he simply turned over and fell into a deep sleep.

When he woke up, the sunlight was already spilling across the earth.

After washing up.

Paki brought over a bowl of oatmeal and two syrup tarts.

Perhaps thinking Darren liked sweets, she had added quite a lot of sugar to the oatmeal.

Eating it, Darren couldn't help but feel he might develop diabetes in the future.

"Little Master Darren, are you going to Diagon Alley?"

"Yes!"

Of course he was going!

Darren wiped his mouth, patted his stomach, and prepared with satisfaction to go to Diagon Alley to grind for temporary tasks.

Paki nodded with a smile and Apparated with him to Diagon Alley.

Diagon Alley was still bustling with activity.

The closer it got to the start of school, the more crowded Diagon Alley became.

There were always students who insisted on waiting until the last minute to buy their books.

Darren saw an elderly woman scolding her grandson.

As he walked closer, he heard her say:

"Neville, why can you never remember things? If you lose your Galleons, how are we supposed to buy anything?"

"I'm sorry, Grandma, I forgot..."

"Sigh!"

Darren curiously observed the pair for a moment; Neville, the boy who lived in the original story, looked truly honest and interesting now.

However, because no temporary task was triggered, he didn't step forward.

He had to go buy his books first.

Flourish and Blotts was located next to Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions in Diagon Alley.

The bookshelves here were piled high with books, reaching all the way to the ceiling.

Some books even fought with each other.

Darren also saw a book printed with countless strange symbols, which dazzled his eyes.

"Ah..."

A cry of surprise brought Darren back from the books.

It turned out an older girl had been knocked over by someone.

She stood up, frowning, and glared indignantly at a boy with pale blond hair and grey eyes in front of her.

"Malfoy, how dare you do that?"

Malfoy?

Darren immediately recalled Draco Malfoy from the original story.

At the moment, he should be the only child in the Malfoy family.

He didn't immediately step forward to shine his "Saint Father" light, but stood to the side to watch the show.

"Hmph, Betty Greengrass, who told you to reject me at the ball? This is for you!"

Greengrass?

This surname, like Malfoy, was at the forefront of the Sacred Twenty-Eight.

Darren remembered that in the original story, Malfoy seemed to have married a Greengrass girl.

It shouldn't be this one, right?

Darren couldn't recall the specific name for a moment, but he remembered it definitely wasn't Betty.

Besides, Malfoy would argue with others too?

He thought only the Weasleys and Harry were ostracized by Malfoy, and they would argue or fight every now and then...

Alright, he remembered now.

It seemed Draco just purely liked to stir up trouble.

Low emotional intelligence, a sharp tongue, arrogant, and petty.

He shouldn't be surprised by anything this guy did.

Draco lifted his head triumphantly.

No Malfoy could tolerate being rejected by someone at a ball.

Especially when he had taken the initiative to invite them.

"Are you sick!"

Betty rolled her eyes at Malfoy.

She thought this heir to the Malfoy family had something wrong with his brain.

She, the Slytherin student body president this year, how could she possibly accept an invitation to dance from such a little brat?

So she had expressed her refusal, and explained by the way that she wouldn't dance with a child so young.

However, this made the heir to the Malfoy family explode.

He insisted she was mocking him.

Not only did he confront her at the ball, but even when she came to buy books, she had to endure this guy's neurosis.

How cruel it was to make an elegant lady fall in public!

"Malfoy, you're done for; the glory of purebloods cannot be offended!"

Betty gritted her teeth; once school started, she would definitely let this annoying Malfoy know that she, Betty, wasn't arguing with him here only because she was afraid of being accused of bullying the young.

Once this guy went to Slytherin, she would definitely punish him severely in her capacity as student body president!

Even the Malfoy family wouldn't be able to say anything then.

She snorted.

She turned to leave.

However, Malfoy thought she was afraid of him, so he grabbed her skirt and said triumphantly:

"I'm telling you, you think it's over? You have to apologize to me and say that your Greengrass family is inferior to our Malfoy family!"

"What?"

Betty turned around angrily.

They were both among the Sacred Twenty-Eight; why should her Greengrass family be inferior to the Malfoys?

Her Greengrass family had four children in this generation; although three were girls, they were far more prosperous than the Malfoy family.

Was he, Malfoy, even worthy?

[Ding, detected an opportunity for the Saint Father System to function near the host. Starting temporary task: Walk to Malfoy's side, frown, and say:

You should apologize; this lady did nothing wrong. Also, no one is inferior to anyone else; if there is, it must be a lack of character!]

[Ding, after completing the task, gain +50 favorability with Cassandra Vole. Do you accept the task?]

Cassandra?

It seemed to be a character from a magic game Darren played before he transmigrated.

Slytherin's "Cassie."

A girl with blonde hair and a mole under her eye.

Was she real here?

Well, he could transmigrate, so fictional characters becoming real didn't seem like much.

[Accept]

Darren hadn't intended to get involved in this matter between nobles at first.

After all, both of them kept talking about purebloods; it was obvious they came from those pureblood-supremacist families.

If he participated, he probably wouldn't gain their favor at all.

Even if he was helping that girl.

She might even turn around and blame him, saying he was meddling.

She might even look down on him.

So he didn't even have the thought of farming Saint Father points from them.

And if the character wasn't moved, he might not be able to farm them anyway.

However, the task had appeared just like that.

Heh heh.

Whether they were grateful or not didn't matter; he just couldn't stand a man treating a girl so unreasonably in broad daylight!

His Saint Father light had to shine on their faces!

PS: I originally wanted to skip the plot of these two days; although daily life is easy to write, it's not as good as writing after entering Hogwarts.

And if he doesn't enter Hogwarts, everyone might be getting annoyed.

But the author thought about it and decided to add two reasons for the protagonist to enter Slytherin; the reason of entering Slytherin for Snape isn't sufficient.

So I added this student body president Betty, and a "Cassie."

With the invitations from these two, the protagonist's reason for entering Slytherin is more comprehensive.
