Chapter 36: Entering Slytherin

~9 min read 1,775 words

Darren noticed that Harry seemed to have been communicating with the Sorting Hat for a long time.

The teachers around were all looking anxious, only Dumbledore wore a smile, as if he understood what was happening there.

"Gryffindor!"

After a long silence, the Sorting Hat finally shouted loudly.

"We got Potter!"

"Great!"

"Harry Potter belongs to Gryffindor!"

"Harry Potter!"

"..."

In the Great Hall, the Gryffindor table erupted.

Professor McGonagall seemed to want to maintain order, but she couldn't help but reveal a smile herself.

Finally, Gryffindor quieted down.

She then continued to read: Darren Potter!

"Potter?"

"Who is this?"

"Harry Potter's brother?"

"How come I've never heard of him?"

"..."

Darren didn't expect he could also be the center of everyone's attention.

His face was flushed red, looking extremely cute.

Professor McGonagall patted his shoulder soothingly and whispered: "Go on, child, don't be afraid!"

"Thank you, Professor McGonagall!"

Darren thanked her earnestly.

Professor McGonagall's smile grew even wider.

"Go on, polite, good child."

Darren walked "obediently" to the side of the Sorting Hat, carefully picked up the hat, and placed it on his head.

"Ah, what a kind, good child. No one has ever treated a hat so politely."

Darren heard Mr. Sorting Hat whisper with a laugh.

He grinned shyly.

[Ding, Legilimency detected. Do you wish to disguise your memories?]

[Disguise. Pass on what I'm thinking.]

Darren wasn't surprised that the hat could use Legilimency.

He just didn't know if Dumbledore had intervened.

The boy received the acceptance letter and smiled happily.

The boy stopped a bullying incident against a Muggle.

The boy told everyone that life is equal.

The boy stood in front of the girl he had just clashed with.

The boy helped up the red-haired girl and kindly coaxed her with candy.

The boy enthusiastically helped the black-haired boy enter the station and happily went out to wait for his brother.

The boy saw his brother enter Gryffindor and thought, I can't embarrass my brother.

"I don't like looking at these."

Mr. Sorting Hat said with some regret.

It didn't like looking at things that made it feel somewhat sad.

That would make a hat feel uncomfortable.

Even though it had no heart.

It was just a hat that could think.

"Child, let me think... You could go to Ravenclaw; I see you yearn for knowledge."

"You could also go to Hufflepuff; the children there would surely like you very much."

"Hmm, you want to be closer to your brother?"

"Then you could go to Slytherin. The children there have ambition, and there are bad kids, but perhaps you could also make good friends."

"Oh, oh, oh, it's really close there; most Slytherin classes are with Gryffindor!"

"Why can't you go to Gryffindor? Do you lack courage?"

"No, no, no, child, don't worry about that. The hat isn't keeping you from Gryffindor because you have too much courage."

"The hat has seen your memories; you always block danger for others. If you entered Gryffindor, the hat worries that one day you will die blocking a curse for someone else."

"The hat thinks you should become more cunning, or perhaps, in your case, that word isn't a bad thing at all!"

Darren felt the Sorting Hat turn a circle on his head as if in a great mood, then continued:

"Cute little fellow, the hat likes you very much. I hope that in the future, you can often come to Dumbledore's office to play with the hat."

"Yes, yes, yes, I live there. As for your final house, don't worry, I have already made my decision—Slytherin!"

The Sorting Hat shouted loudly.

Darren stood up with a "stunned" expression.

Not just him, everyone in the Great Hall was stunned.

Harry Potter's brother had actually entered that gathering place of dark wizards.

"I knew it, I knew it! How could someone who hangs out with that woman be a good person?"

Ron's voice also rang out.

Darren's face suddenly turned pale.

He hurriedly looked toward Harry, as if seeking his comfort.

Harry looked back blankly.

To be honest, he hadn't reacted yet.

The boy who helped him on the train was actually his twin brother, Darren Potter.

But thinking of what Ron had said on the train, Harry still felt uncomfortable.

That Voldemort killed their parents; how could Darren go to the house that guy came from?

Especially when he heard what Ron said.

"How could someone who hangs out with that woman be a good person?" ===== CHAPTER 90 =====

Yes, he had also seen that girl named Greengrass blow up a werewolf earlier.

Later, someone even said Miss Greengrass had killed a little boy.

His brother was actually walking so close to such a murderer.

He felt uncomfortable in his heart.

His gaze toward Darren went silent.

He turned his head away.

Darren's eyes gradually dimmed.

He pursed his lips and walked dejectedly toward the Slytherin table.

The Slytherin table was also silent.

None of the Slytherins had expected Harry Potter's brother to come to their house.

And those who knew Darren were even more bewildered.

Wasn't this guy a Muggle-born wizard?

How did he suddenly become Harry Potter's brother?

Especially Becky Greengrass, the female Head Girl, who opened her mouth in shock, revealing an unladylike sight.

She even wanted to go up and question Darren: why did you hide your identity?

But seeing his "heartbroken" look, she put that thought aside and instead glared at the other Slytherin students.

Whoever dared to bully Darren Potter was going against her!

Although she had told Darren not to have those unrealistic fantasies, she wouldn't allow anyone to bully him either.

Just seeing Darren's dejected look, she turned her head away in annoyance.

Stupid little brat, now that you've entered Slytherin, do you think the little lions of Slytherin will treat you like a brother? ===== CHAPTER 91 =====

Darren, of course, wasn't dejected at all.

He had intended to enter Slytherin from the start.

At first, he thought if the Sorting Hat didn't let him into Slytherin, he would do as Harry did.

Keep chanting in his mind "I want to go to Slytherin" until the Sorting Hat got annoyed with him.

But that method was a bit too risky.

He later remembered the Neville incident.

Actually, Neville was more suited for Hufflepuff at first.

He liked herbology and had a good temper.

He was just a bit cowardly.

The Sorting Hat put him in Gryffindor to give him some courage.

Clearly, the Sorting Hat wasn't that rigid.

So he tested it again.

When the Sorting Hat used Legilimency, he displayed his acts of chivalry, as well as

his courage to the fullest.

Sure enough, the Sorting Hat felt he had excess courage and didn't recommend Gryffindor.

Instead, it recommended Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw more.

Of course, when he suggested wanting to be closer to Harry, it put him in Slytherin.

As for the acting scene with Harry, there was no other way.

After all, as a little Saintly Father who worshipped his brother, how could he not seek his brother's comfort after being sorted into the opposite house?

It was Harry's reaction that left him a bit confused.

What, your brother gets sorted into Slytherin, so your brother is a bad person?

That really left him stumped.

He had originally planned to tell him that Slytherin and Gryffindor were the same, that everyone was a good child, after Harry nodded at him, and harvest a wave of Saintly Father points.

With Harry acting like this, his Saintly Father radiance didn't get to shine at all.

Sure enough, reality isn't a game; it can't proceed exactly as he imagines.

Darren sighed again.

He felt his heart was bleeding.

Just like that, how many Saintly Father points were lost!

When the food came up later.

He only ate a large chicken leg, bit into a chicken foot someone gave him, gnawed on a piece of cake, and had a small pudding with milk.

He ate it "absent-mindedly."

Hmm, delicious!

If it weren't for the fact that it didn't fit his current persona, he would have loved to wolf it down like the Gryffindors.

But he was currently a little Saintly Father who had just been shunned by his brother; he couldn't make such strange movements, or he would seem heartless.

From the moment the boy was sorted into Slytherin until the end of the meal, he was absent-minded.

Snape suspected he probably didn't even know what he was eating.

Because he saw Malfoy, who was sitting next to Darren, mischievously put a chicken foot on his plate, and he just ate it casually.

Snape seemed to see his former self.

When he was sorted into Slytherin, Lily had the same expression as Harry Potter.

No, Lily was just a little unhappy, and then she smiled.

Back then, they were still good friends.

But Harry Potter was different.

He ignored Darren right in front of everyone.

Could he really not imagine how sad his brother must be feeling?

Snape looked with disgust at Harry Potter, who was wolfing down food at the Gryffindor table, and that little Weasley brat next to him.

A reckless boy, in this Potter's eyes, was actually more important than his own twin brother.

Snape snorted coldly.

How utterly stupid!

Harry had completely forgotten about Darren entering Slytherin.

After all, he was just a child, and children are forgetful.

He was angry that Darren entered Slytherin, so he deliberately ignored him, but later he thought about finding Darren tomorrow.

He was his brother, after all, and he still liked him very much.

And his brother seemed cuter than him; Harry was still very proud of him.

He thought there must be some misunderstanding; maybe Mr. Sorting Hat made a mistake!

Mr. Sorting Hat even wanted to put him in Slytherin House, but he insisted on not going.

Darren probably didn't know the Sorting Hat could be refused, which is why he went to Slytherin.

Anyway, Harry felt he wasn't like those bad wizards.

He was only angry before because Ron said Darren was close to that Slytherin "Queen Bee."

He felt that everyone in Slytherin except Darren was a bad person.

Darren shouldn't be close to them.

But that would have to wait until tomorrow; he still needed to face this feast in front of him.

He lifted his eyes and peeked in Darren's direction.

He was dealing with a piece of cake.

Good, his anger hadn't affected Darren's appetite.

Harry ate and drank to his heart's content, feeling relieved.

Finally, his stomach couldn't hold another thing. ===== CHAPTER 92 =====
