Chapter 63: What are you doing here?!!

~6 min read 1,041 words

For a moment, Darren thought this Professor Quirrell was going to kill him.

As a result, the next second, this Professor Quirrell laughed again.

He praised: "As expected of... the Potter family's child, truly as earnest, obedient, and well-behaved as your parents.

Child, you are truly the most talented genius I have ever seen, just like your parents~"

Quirrell wasn't stuttering anymore, praising Darren in a fluent tone.

Darren hurriedly put on an embarrassed expression.

"Thank you, Professor Quirrell!"

Quirrell laughed even more happily, pulling Darren along to tell him many interesting things about the wizarding world, which Darren listened to with great interest.

"Who is there?"

Just as Darren was planning to ask for more gossip about the wizarding world, he heard Snape's stern voice asking.

"It's, me, and, and Darren Potter..."

Quirrell also recognized Snape's voice and replied, stuttering.

"What are you doing here?"

Snape held his wand tightly, and seeing Darren standing next to Quirrell looking "bewildered," a flash of vigilance crossed his eyes.

"Ah, just, just, passing by, saw, little Mr. Darren, and couldn't help, chatting a bit..."

Quirrell said with a smile.

As he spoke, he backed away and then disappeared in front of Snape.

"Come in... what are you doing here!"

Snape watched Quirrell leave, vigilantly tapped the surrounding walls with his wand, then pulled Darren into the office and said angrily.

How could this little brat dare to have contact with that Quirrell?

If he hadn't come quickly, he might have seen the Potter brat's corpse lying at his office door!

"Professor..."

Darren acted as if he had been startled.

His face turned pale instantly.

He looked at Snape with fearful eyes.

Only then did Snape realize he had been too fierce just now.

It might be fine for Harry Potter, but for this timid little brat, he had probably scared him.

Hmph!

He tried hard to calm his anger and said in as soothing a tone as possible: "Alright, don't make that expression anymore; I just want to know what happened just now, tell me everything!"

"Yes..."

Darren told Snape what had happened, with some parts edited out.

In his description, Professor Quirrell was a good person who told him stories about the wizarding world as soon as they met, and they had a very pleasant conversation.

If Snape hadn't come over, they could have even talked about the founding of Hogwarts. Snape curled his lip sarcastically.

It wasn't that he didn't believe Darren, but that one couldn't listen to this brat's feelings; one had to analyze the situation oneself.

This brat saw everyone as a good person.

He might even look at the prisoners of Azkaban and think those people had their reasons.

"Hmph, consider yourself lucky!"

Snape snorted coldly.

Clearly, Quirrell hadn't intended to commit murder at Hogwarts just yet, which was why he had let this brat off the hook.

If it were next time, this brat might not be so lucky.

"Alright, then let's talk about why you are here!"

What was this brat doing running here for no reason?

An office of a former Death Eater, as Harry Potter's brother, he actually dared to come here; wasn't he afraid of death?

"Professor, today is my detention..."

Darren said hesitantly.

Snape froze.

His cold eyes suddenly became somewhat comical.

Darren almost laughed out loud.

But to avoid being Avada Kedavra'd by Snape, he lowered his head, pretending to be obedient, waiting for Snape's reply.

"Yes, yes, today is your detention, so... go take out your textbook to study, or have you finished copying the house rules?!"

Snape said, embarrassed and angry.

Darren held back his laughter.

He took out his parchment, preparing to copy the house rules here.

Poor Snape, had he never thought that detention should be a punishment, not letting him do homework here...

One hundred times the house rules; Darren hadn't written a single word before.

If he hadn't suddenly remembered today, he would probably have waited until Snape asked him for it to remember.

By then, Professor Snape would be holding a stack of house rules copied by other Slytherin students and walking up to him.

Signaling him to hand them in, and then he would awkwardly say: Professor, I forgot. That scene would probably break his persona.

There weren't many Slytherin house rules.

About thirty or so.

Every rule was about maintaining image, preserving honor, and being united, even if it was just an act.

Darren had copied them until he could almost recite them.

By the time he finished copying, Darren realized it was already late at night.

He turned his head and found Snape sitting in his office chair looking at him, and although he was looking at him, his eyes were unfocused.

Well, he was looking at his Lily.

Darren complained silently.

He even wanted to roll his eyes.

Because of Darren's movement, Snape finally came back to his senses.

"Finished? Bring it here and let me see."

Darren pouted and handed his stack of house rules to Snape.

Because he was worried his handwriting would change too quickly and be mistaken by Snape for someone else using Polyjuice Potion to impersonate him, Darren still used his old handwriting.

Well, it was also circles within circles, just not very good-looking.

As soon as Snape saw the writing on it, he frowned deeply.

He pushed the parchment away and said with some disgust: "Darren Potter, shouldn't you practice your handwriting?"

"Yes..."

He nodded sheepishly.

Was the writing that ugly?

He really thought it was, well, okay?

"Handwriting is a person's face; when I first saw your handwriting, I thought it was written by some reckless lion from Gryffindor!"

Snape continued to mock.

After counting the house rules Darren had copied and confirming there were no problems, he tapped the table with his wand.

A plate of food appeared on the table, looking like things Darren often ate at the dining table.

"Eat quickly, and after you're done, get out... go to sleep quickly!"

Snape said impatiently.

He took out a pile of homework and began to grade it quickly.

"Come earlier tomorrow, leave earlier; sleeping so late, the famous Harry Potter will say I'm abusing you, do you hear me?"

"Oh."
