Chapter 162: The Charm Study Plan

~6 min read 1,100 words

Sunday.

Inside the classroom.

Wizard Sean heard the bells of Hogwarts ring; naturally, he packed away his notes and picked up his Nimbus 2000.

He knew the flying test had begun. Although his flying proficiency had already reached the Skilled rank, forming his highest-level magic alongside his Expert-level Levitation Charm and Skilled-level Transfiguration.

Yet he could not help feeling a slight nervousness, after all, he only had one chance.

It had been a long time since arriving at Hogwarts, and he had achieved certain results in every branch of magic.

Skilled-level Transfiguration, one Expert-level Charm, and five Entry-level Charms, plus the Finite Incantatem he was about to learn.

To be safe, Wizard Sean planned to grind Finite Incantatem directly to the Expert level.

As for longer-term goals, such as the Protego Charm or Apparition, Wizard Sean did not think Professor Flitwick would teach them to him so soon.

Moreover, Wizard Sean's Charm title was still only Entry-level, so he was also preparing to select three Charms to grind to Expert; with the boost from the new title, he imagined his speed in learning difficult Charms would increase significantly.

As his specialty, Transfiguration was not far from the Expert level either.

Thus, Wizard Sean opened his panel:

[Name: Wizard Sean Green]

[Identity: Wizard]

[Titles: Entry-level Charms, Proficient Transfiguration]

[Proficiency]

[Levitation Charm: Expert (200/9000)]

[Lumos Charm: Entry (600/900)]

[Advancement: Six Skilled-level Charms or three Expert-level Charms can unlock the Skilled-level Charms Domain title]

Select three Expert-level Charms?

Wizard Sean thought.

Besides the Finite Incantatem Charm, he still needed one more Charm.

He pondered for a few seconds; he already possessed an offensive means in Transfiguration, and after learning Finite Incantatem, he would have a defensive means, so learning some concealment methods, such as the Disillusionment Charm, might be good.

Having not checked the panel in a long time, he continued looking downward:

[Transfiguration: Skilled (6100/9000)]

[Advancement: Expert-level Transfiguration can unlock the Expert-level Transfiguration Domain title]

[Wizard Talents] [Potions: Green] [Herbology: Green] [Charms: Blue] [Transfiguration: Purple] [Dark Arts: Gold] [Flying: Gold]

Compared to before entering Hogwarts, it was simply a world of difference.

On this Sunday afternoon, the weather was clear and cold.

Wizard Sean carried his Nimbus 2000 to the locker room to change clothes.

Although it was also a school uniform, he simply had no other cold-weather clothing.

Meanwhile, in the locker room, Harry and the other teammates were changing into their scarlet Quidditch robes.

Wizard Sean once again heard a familiar voice:

It was Wood, clearing his throat to quiet everyone down.

"Right, lads,"

he said.

"And ladies,"

a clear female voice added.

"And ladies,"

Wood agreed,

"the time has come."

"We are about to undergo important training."

A voice that was not Wood's spoke; Wizard Sean looked past the curtain billowing in the wind and saw it was Fred Wei Wei Silai talking.

"Every single training session is for the moment we have all been waiting for,"

George took up the sentence.

"We have Oliver's speech memorized by heart,"

Fred and George said together to a bewildered Harry,

"we were on the team last year."

"Shut up, you two,"

Wood said,

"this is the best Gryffindor team in many years; we must train seriously for the best chance!"

He glared fiercely at everyone, as if to say, "Or you'll regret it."

"We all know,"

Fred lowered his voice considerably; while Wood turned his head, he continued whispering to Harry,

"Harry, you are currently the best Seeker."

"No young wizard is stronger than you."

This was George speaking.

"And you have the latest Nimbus 2000; Merlin, you're the only one in the whole school who has one."

Then came Fred, looking enviously at Harry's broom, which made Harry blush considerably.

"Alright, now pay close attention to the tactics; once that young wizard's flying test is over, it's our turn!"

Listening to their words, Wizard Sean silently quickened his pace.

Madam Hooch was already waiting for him on the Quidditch pitch; she took out an iron ball and said to Wizard Sean:

"The test content is simple: catch those Quaffles and dodge these Bludgers. You have fifteen minutes for the test; catching three Quaffles and dodging all the Bludgers counts as success..."

She finished stating the rules crisply, then observed Wizard Sean for a moment before softening her tone slightly to say,

"Don't be afraid of actually getting hit; I will be watching you the whole time. However, if I really have to intervene, your test counts as a failure! Alright, Mr. Green, what are you waiting for? Mount your broom and warm up with two laps first!"

Suppressing his nervousness, Wizard Sean mounted his broom with slight excitement.

The moment his feet left the ground, Wizard Sean instantly calmed down; he first flew two laps around the Quidditch pitch, then performed a few simple turns against the goal posts.

Just as he was flying smoothly, two furtive figures appeared in the stands.

"Jia Jia Siting, are you sure this is the right time?"

Hermione scanned the area and found no young wizards, only a few blurry figures flying around the pitch—the Quidditch pitch had not been cleared yet.

"I see Wizard Sean!"

Jia Jia Siting shouted loudly.

Hermione looked over skeptically; there was only a blurry shadow—the flying speed was too fast.

Jia Jia Siting handed a pair of binoculars to Hermione, and this time Hermione clearly saw Wizard Sean's face.

"How did you see so clearly?

Besides, do you even have binoculars..."

Before she could finish her sentence, Jia Jia Siting waved the binoculars in his hand:

"Exactly two pairs; Mother's consideration is always thorough."

"Alright, Mr. Green!"

Wizard Sean saw Madam Hooch waving her arms vigorously,

"Watch closely now; I'm going to release the Bludger. Just like we practiced before, dodge it!"

Wizard Sean saw Madam Hooch toss the ball high into the air, and it came zooming toward him immediately.

A Bludger is an enchanted ball; in Quidditch, it indiscriminately chases whichever player it encounters.

They used to be made of stone; however, these spherical stones had a major flaw:

They could be shattered by the powerfully enchanted bats of fifteenth-century Beaters. When this happened, all players in the subsequent match would be pursued by flying shards of stone.

Agatha Chubb, an expert on ancient magical products, wrote this:

"Undoubtedly, they are Bludgers, not cannonballs."

And if left to their own devices, they would attack the Quidditch player nearest to them; therefore, Beaters emerged, whose task is to hit the Bludgers as far away from their own team as possible.

Wizard Sean, however, clearly had no Beater.
