Chapter 183: The New Undetectable Extension Bag

~6 min read 1,055 words

The bustle of Diagon Alley does not change because Wizard Sean Green is poor, but the bustling Diagon Alley can change Wizard Sean Green’s poverty.

Number 93 Diagon Alley.

“Please take these Galleons quickly—the magical ledger will record them. By the way, if you wish to see your witch shopkeeper next time instead of your cookie shopkeeper, remember to complete your baking promptly.”

“The owl will come to find you.”

The moment Gert the shopkeeper saw Wizard Sean, her smiling face paused slightly—then spread into a full smile upon seeing the cookie box in his hand.

She respectfully accepted the Animal Party Series cookies, then saw Wizard Sean out the back door.

Why not the front door?

Because it’s been blocked off.

Wizards in all manner of robes chattered noisily; animals of all kinds hopped and bounded about, leaving not a single gap.

While withdrawing Galleons, Wizard Sean realized a problem—he had no Undetectable Extension Bag.

So he could carry only a tiny amount of Galleons, less than one-tenth of his current earnings.

At this moment, Professor McGonagall was still talking with a witch whose golden hair was combed into perfect order at the Tailor’s Shop.

The owner of the Tailor’s Shop was a witch who knew how to speak well, often bringing a gentle smile to the professor’s face.

Diagon Alley remained packed with people; Wizard Sean heard a low, soft whimpering from a dim shop. He looked up—the sign above the door read: Eeylops Owl Emporium—Tawny Owl, Long-eared Owl, Barn Owl, Brown Owl, Snowy Owl.

As Wizard Sean passed, several boys his age pressed their noses against the window of the next shop, where broomsticks were displayed.

“Look at that,”

Wizard Sean heard one boy say,

“That’s the new Firebolt 2000—the fastest—”

So Wizard Sean passed by shops selling secondhand robes, telescopes, and all manner of strange silver objects.

Its window was filled with baskets of bat spleens and eel eyes, piles of spellbooks, quills, rolls of parchment, potion bottles, lunar globes…

“Marcus wants me to ask you—if summer comes, do you have time to return to… the family?”

Outside the shop, Professor McGonagall held Wizard Sean’s hand and asked softly.

Wizard Sean remembered the three little McGons rolling together at the door.

When the cold wind blew outside, the McGons huddled by the warm fireplace, eating sweet roasted sweet potatoes, waiting to catch Sarah turned into a cat.

Marcus and Professor McGonagall watched them with interest, then glanced out the snowy window and sipped their long-steeped yerba mate.

In winter, people always feel close.

The drifting snow pulled time back to the present; Wizard Sean looked at the glove key in his hand and nodded silently.

So Wizard Sean and the professor returned to Hogwarts.

The castle’s corridors echoed with footsteps, and the halls swelled with the presence of wizards.

When Wizard Sean returned to Hope Cottage, he found a pouch with a green emerald pendant in his bag.

He saw the note inside unfold itself into his hand:

【You are no longer alone, child.】

The fire burned fiercely, burning long, until Wizard Sean pulled out a gleaming broomstick.

——The Firebolt 2000.

Granting an object magical movement is within the scope of low-level alchemy.

Even though flying broomsticks had evolved through so many generations, they still fell within this framework—but now, Wizard Sean wanted the broom to possess a degree of will.

If the broom could find its own path, perhaps he could free his hands.

So practice passed quickly; within just one day, Wizard Sean’s plan bore fruit.

After all, the method of granting will was still the same as that of wizard chess—understanding the broom’s internal magical structure, Wizard Sean merely added a transfiguration component.

Notably, flying broomsticks had strict secrecy mechanisms—apparently a confusion charm—that prevented ordinary wizards from perceiving their true inner structure.

Outside Hogwarts Castle, Wizard Sean sensed the newly added spell group within the broom—the Pathfinding Charm, the Disillusionment Charm, the Quiet Charm, and a degree of avoidance will…

Without hesitation, Wizard Sean mounted the broom.

The panel gave no prompt—meaning the broom still had issues, but where?

Soon Wizard Sean knew: as he passed the castle, Headless Nick shouted:

“A headless… Wizard Sean Green?!”

Imagining the Disillusionment Charm failing, leaving only a head floating in the air, Wizard Sean swiftly revised the spell array.

【You practiced making a leisure broom to apprentice standard, Craftsmanship +1】

Leisure Broom was the name Wizard Sean gave his modified broom. He also wrote to Gert the shopkeeper to send him a broken broom, so he could grind his craftsmanship using an unremarkable one.

At this point, the panel had changed significantly:

Mrs. Loris's Cookies: Skilled Level (10/900)

【Owl Cookies: Beginner Level (10/300)】

【Elk Cookies: Beginner Level (1/300)】

【Intermediate·Wizard Chess: Apprentice Level (29/30)】

【Intermediate·Leisure Broom: Apprentice Level (1/30)】

【Three skilled-level intermediate alchemical creations, six beginner-level alchemical creations—can unlock the Skilled Level title in Alchemy】

In the time that followed, Wizard Sean devoted himself entirely to crafting two intermediate alchemical creations.

When he rode the broom past the Great Hall, he drew no attention; the Disillusionment Charm and Quiet Charm concealed him perfectly.

But inside the Great Hall, it was uproariously noisy.

Since the strange wizard chess appeared, young wizards had become obsessed with these unpredictable, infuriating pieces.

No one knew whether the next moment they would fight bravely or betray their own side.

But gradually, everyone learned each piece’s personality traits.

For example, Knight Lar Schneider. He was an idealist—if you ordered him to retreat, he would feel his life philosophy shattered and do strange things: falling inexplicably in love with the Queen (possibly the opponent’s), or claiming he ate too much yesterday and standing motionless.

For example, King Henry. He was a lecher—if you covered his eyes, he would stop causing trouble; or if you were a pretty young witch, his fighting spirit would ignite. But then be careful of the Queen—his Queen, Yana, possessed high moral will; if she discovered the King’s vile behavior, she would kill him.

Overall, the board remained the same, but with strong personal styles added, young wizards found duels endlessly entertaining.

Wizard Sean watched for a while as the young wizards discussed tactics based on each piece’s traits…

Could they really be cultivating a few military strategists…

This thought surfaced inexplicably in his mind.
