Chapter 209
Madame Hooch stood at the center of the Quidditch pitch and, seeing Wizard Sean approach, nodded at him with satisfaction.
“Captains, shake hands.”
Referee Madame Hooch called out as Cedric and acting captain Luo Jie stepped forward to meet.
The Quidditch match began quickly and ended just as swiftly.
While the crowd was immersed in the excitement of Quidditch, Wizard Sean cut through the sky like a meteor.
With the finest broom and flight skills refined to the infinite level of 【Expert】 proficiency, Wizard Sean shed all others in just three minutes and arrived alone behind the Golden Snitch.
When his feet left the ground, nothing filled his mind but the magic intuition forged through relentless practice.
His formidable willpower enabled him to master alchemical creations at an exceptional level—this was one reason he captured the Golden Snitch in merely five minutes.
“We won! It’s Wizard Sean! Oh my god—Terry!”
In the stands, Michael excitedly hugged Terry.
“We’re the best Quidditch team!”
On the Quidditch pitch, Luo Jie roared in triumph.
The Ravenclaw Quidditch team gathered around Wizard Sean.
“To—the wind and eagle wings that forever soar beyond the horizon!”
…
And so the Quidditch match ended.
Before leaving the pitch, Luo Jie hesitantly asked Wizard Sean:
“I know you have no interest in this, but just once—just this one final time—let us win that damn Quidditch Cup together!
This is our best chance in seven years! Ravenclaw will claim the House Cup!”
Quidditch was easy. When flying, Wizard Sean’s mind went utterly blank—but easy things could never point directly to the greatness of magic.
Wizard Sean remembered his promise to the Prefect and nodded, bidding farewell to Acting Captain Luo Jie.
“Brilliant, child!”
Professor McGonagall hurried down from the stands, her back followed by Professor Snape, who bore a faint air of anger.
In the days that followed, Professor Snape seemed to carry a persistent resentment.
His guidance now carried more of this tone:
“What, Mr. Green? Did the Golden Snitch not tell you the proper force needed to stir the Shrinking Potion?”
“Of course, Mr. Green—brutality has taken over your mind, so you’ve forgotten that heat control demands the utmost care.”
Professor McGonagall, however, grew even gentler.
During breaks, she would unconsciously share with Wizard Sean stories of past Quidditch matches.
In this relaxed state, Wizard Sean became more adept at constructing magical circuits in Transfiguration.
Time passed slowly.
Wizard Sean’s plan had not changed.
His Transfiguration proficiency drew ever closer to 【Master】—he was intensely curious about what lay beyond Master level.
He had already mastered several types of advanced Transfiguration:
His most refined was transforming “objects” into “magic”; next came multiple Transfigurations that increased strength and complexity;
He was also gradually learning the Transfiguration of “self” into “living creatures”… as for the vast other fields of Transfiguration, he felt his energy was simply insufficient.
In one week, he constructed the magical circuit for a stone pillar and could now summon small stone pillars without becoming utterly exhausted.
He increasingly sensed that magical circuits served to reduce the mental and willpower drain of Transfiguration—and the path to perfecting these circuits was nearly endless.
No wonder wizards grew stronger the more proficient they became in Transfiguration—it was a magical branch capable of infinite accumulation.
…
After the Quidditch match, Wizard Sean’s reputation in Ravenclaw rose visibly.
Led by Michael, the little eagles spread exaggerated rumors about Wizard Sean.
The most absurd was: “Oh, Wizard Sean—of course, if you knew he surpassed young Dumbledore, everything would make sense.”
In the Great Hall, even Neville believed Wizard Sean would at least become the next Dumbledore.
A certain headmaster who favored sweets watched with amusement; when he recalled something, he blinked in slight surprise.
… This child, indeed, did better than his younger self in certain ways.
No matter how wildly rumors flew, Wizard Sean continued learning magic at his own pace.
Thanks to his daily “territory patrols” with Hagrid in the Forbidden Forest, the Nearctic’s familiarity had nearly reached the threshold required to make magical creature biscuits.
Meanwhile, the little wizards in Hope Cottage, after a period of training, brought Wizard Sean an interesting piece of news via Jia Jia Siting.
“We’re all learning Finite—this is a practical and efficient spell…”
Jia Jia Siting said, entering Hope Cottage amid the noise of Mr. Owl,
“Hemin accidentally found it in the Book of Spells—it’s so similar to Impedimenta that we learned it without much difficulty…”
Wizard Sean didn’t understand what Jia Jia Siting meant until he saw Hemin and others excitedly pointing their wands downward.
He immediately understood—after all—wand up: Ultimate Protection; wand down: Finite.
Finite (Finite) is a group counter-spell requiring multiple wizards to cast together to dispel large-scale magical effects.
Its mechanism resembles that of the single-target counter-spell Impedimenta, but operates on a larger scale, capable of dispelling most standard spells—though ineffective against powerful curses like Avada Kedavra.
It proves extremely useful in coordinated combat.
For instance, when Gellert Grindelwald unleashed blue flames to destroy Paris, local wizards collectively cast Finite and successfully averted the disaster.
“Come on! Wizard Sean, I think we can definitely cast it!”
Hemin whispered excitedly.
Her desk was piled with the Book of Spells, Basic Spells for the Busy and Frustrated, and Defensive and Deterrent Spells—her broad study made it easy to find intriguing spells.
Professor Fuliwei, passing by, gladly offered to help the little wizards test it—and so—
“Impedimenta!”
Professor Fuliwei waved his wand.
“Finite! (All Spells End!)”
The wizards of Hope Cottage formed a line centered on Wizard Sean.
With their wands pointed downward, a golden-red light converged at their wand tips—and truly canceled out Professor Fuliwei’s Impedimenta.
“Excellent! Children! Brilliant job!”
Professor Fuliwei clapped his hands.
Inside Hope Cottage, everyone fell into an excited silence—they wanted to speak, but found no words.
Harry and Luo En never imagined they’d one day face off against a professor; Jia Jia Siting was overjoyed—they seemed to have found something extraordinary.
As for Wizard Sean, he heard the panel’s voice:
【You practiced Finite once at the proficient standard. Proficiency +30】
In that instant of their combined spellcasting, they had, for a brief moment, reached a level of counter-spell mastery capable of matching a professor.
