Chapter 227: Vastness
If the vastness of Transfiguration comes from the exploration of it by generation after generation of wizards, then the vastness of alchemy must come from an endless stream of whimsical ideas.
A Levitation Charm plus a faint Legilimency spell can give birth to the Quick-Quotes Quill that has been a bestseller for a hundred years;
A Duplication Spell plus a Duration Spell can give birth to Eternal Ink;
Even the Canary Cream used by Senior Wei Silai is merely an application of Transfiguration—the principle is triggering an advanced Transfiguration of "living creature" to "living creature" upon consumption.
Of course, Senior Wei Silais couldn't do this themselves; this was "generously" helped by Professor Taila to engrave.
Sean could foresee—since it can be done this way, why not that way?
For example, Shark Bread, which a wizard can eat to transform into a shark and swim freely in the water;
For example, Eagle Biscuits, which a wizard can eat to fly briefly.
The requirements for the alchemy field are extremely unique; it requires a wizard to possess "unconventional" ideas—its difficulty lies not in being unable to do it, but in not being able to think of it.
Just like the Shield Hats from Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes in the original work, could it really be that no wizard could make them?
Wizards could even make the Knight Bus—that thing could be summoned, was retractable, automatically hidden, extremely fast, and could be driven by a single wizard.
Well, it couldn't even be called driving—the description in the original work is:
The driver didn't seem skilled at handling the steering wheel, causing the Knight Bus to always crash toward the sidewalk, but it never hit anything; rows of lampposts, mailboxes, and trash cans would jump aside when the bus drove over, and return to their original positions after it passed.
Yet such advanced alchemy, or alchemical magic, couldn't even produce a single Shield Hat.
If it were useless, the Ministry of Magic wouldn't have bought five hundred Shield Hats for all their staff.
Fred and George even developed a series of anti-curse products using this as an opportunity: such as Shield Hats, Shield Gloves, etc...
Perhaps there are too few wizards truly delving into alchemy, or perhaps wizards don't care much about these inventions and creations, or perhaps their thinking is limited...
In short, wizards have developed very little in the alchemy field, yet it exists everywhere in wizarding life.
Sean couldn't suppress the many ideas in his mind for a moment, and in a few days, he was almost immersed in the twins' notes.
Inside, it detailed the meager principles of alchemy and how to invent and create some small tools.
His first step, of course, was to make a qualified levitating quill; naturally, he was also curious about that mysterious Professor Taila who only taught sixth and seventh-year wizards.
But compared to these, he was more concerned about the requirements on the panel:
Potions, Spells, Transfiguration.
He already understood the role of Spells and Transfiguration in alchemy, but why Potions?
November deepened along with the cold air; Hogwarts Castle gradually began to snow, with a thin layer of white every morning, and the cold wind and snow cutting at hands and cheeks.
The sky and the ceiling of the Great Hall were also dotted with snowflakes, the mountains around Hogwarts wore snow caps, the temperature in the castle kept dropping, and sometimes Sean even had to wear two sweaters and carry the flame jar given by Hemin—that thing was like a hand warmer.
Because of researching alchemy, Sean's movements were more regular than ever, and the Wei Silai brothers could always find him easily.
"Great Green!"
They usually hid behind armor, behind portraits, or even in the snow, then shouted and ran away.
Only then did Sean look over belatedly—his energy was entirely on the notes.
"Lately, is he a bit too focused..."
Outside the Hope Cabin, Jia Siting asked Hemin with some inquiry,
"I know he's always been focused, but it's rare to see him like this."
Hemin nodded, then glanced at the sneaky Harry and Luo En, as well as that senior Ravenclaw.
"Should we just say it, Harry?"
At the corner of the corridor, Luo En seemed very excited; he kept blowing hot air onto the fingers exposed at the front of his gloves, then asked Harry while suppressing his excitement,
"Did you see it? When you caught the Golden Snitch, even Hemin cheered!"
Harry was a bit shy, but there was also an imperceptible agreement in his tone:
"I think... Sean will agree to let us join that organization..."
While the two were whispering, the tall Ravenclaw prefect had already appeared in front of Sean.
"I am Prefect Peneluo Keliwate, Mr. Sean Green, I came to find you to make up for an idiot's mistake."
She first stated her identity, then threw out an interesting topic.
Behind her, several tall and burly Ravenclaws were hiding—
"Luo Jie, once off the Quidditch pitch, did your vision change from an eagle to an owl?"
A black-haired wizard teased.
Luo Jie's face flushed red; wanting to refute something but recalling his mistake, he stayed silent.
What had he done? Letting a gifted Ravenclaw Quidditch genius drift for so long; he must have been looking forward to a Quidditch team invitation when he passed the flight test! No one could dislike Quidditch!
"An owl is also an eagle! Little wizard! Stupid little wizard!"
At this moment, an owl portrait clutching parchment suddenly appeared on the wall, making a circle of Ravenclaws shrink their heads.
"Mr. Owl, we weren't talking about you..."
This Ravenclaw seemed to know of Mr. Owl's existence, and looking at their shivering appearance, they were very afraid.
"I'm not an eagle?!"
Mr. Owl flapped his wings in a rage.
Seeming to think of some bad consequences, this black-haired Ravenclaw hurriedly tried to make up for it:
"I was talking about you—"
"Are you saying I have no vision?!"
Mr. Owl was so angry his glasses slid off.
"... No, not you, no, it is you, okay not..."
The more anxious he got, the less he could speak, and finally, his face became increasingly desperate.
Now it was Luo Jie Davis's turn to watch the joke.
"Tuoya, explain properly, otherwise within a month, you won't be able to enter the door properly—this is a castle designed by Ravenclaw!"
"Shut up! Davis! Help!"
This wizard named Tuoya was sweating profusely with anxiety, and he said in anger and shame,
"If I can't get in the door, you won't be able to sleep well either! I'll keep knocking on the door outside!"
"Hahaha—"
The surrounding Ravenclaws all burst into laughter, some even unable to straighten their backs, so the air was filled with a cheerful atmosphere.
But in front of them, the conversation wasn't going very smoothly.
Prefect Peneluo frowned, trying her best to make her words gentle. ===== CHAPTER 228 =====
