Chapter 359: The Wizard

~6 min read 1,006 words

Like Pukwudgie, the cat Bao is the mascot of Ilvermorny, and many cat Bao inhabit the Ilvermorny forest.

The magical creatures here form their own system, following ancient jungle laws.

Newt answered Wizard Sean’s question.

He also made Wizard Sean understand why the cat Bao had been injured.

Senior Newt seemed to be subtly guiding Wizard Sean.

When Wizard Sean looked at Senior Newt, the Hufflepuff elder slightly turned his body, speaking with some slowness.

But it didn’t seem like the senior’s idea…

So they began touring the various patched-together terrains.

Newt walked slowly ahead, while bundled-up Wizard Sean looked around behind him.

Here were snowflakes the size of goose feathers, magnificent auroras, and deserts swept by howling winds.

Wizard Sean’s hair had exploded into a mushroom shape in the thunderbird habitat, his clothes were punctured by runic serpent saliva, and a bird-serpent now rested in his pocket.

Though the Nangdubao , winged devils, and Billywig beetles caused Wizard Sean considerable trouble, his enthusiasm for magical creatures only grew stronger.

If only he could make fairy-tale cookies of these magical creatures…

Flight, storm control, uncounterable instant teleportation—all would be within reach.

Wizard Sean knew what he should do and what he could accomplish in the short term; thus, despite his longing, he did not alter his plan.

He simply felt time slipping away faster and faster.

Creating an untraceable extended storage device, making cat Bao cookies, mastering a second soul-body transformation, and uncovering the secrets of Ravenclaw’s diadem had already filled his schedule.

So he let out a faint sigh.

This surge of enthusiasm, when seen by Newt, only made the Hufflepuff elder’s smile grow even more shy.

“Mr. Scamander, could I learn from you how to create an untraceable extended space?”

Mr. Scamander seemed to be in good spirits; Wizard Sean asked while placing the reluctant bird-serpent back into its nest.

“Of course.”

Newt smiled in agreement.

Wizard Sean’s eyes lit up.

Newt smiled, feeling Dumbledore’s description had been remarkably accurate.

【Though I found no other evidence of his youth, in magic, I still know—he is a child… a child obsessed with magic.】

【His passion for magic is like yours for magical creatures—this nature deserves special attention…】

“I can only create simple spaces.”

Wizard Sean needed three days to create the large space he wanted, but during that time, he had crafted several small items.

He lifted something from his chest, and a tiny book sprang forth.

Within a second, the book expanded into a volume with silver-white border patterns.

At first were countless sheets of parchment, shrunk and stacked together—Wizard Sean’s method of carrying more books, containing all his alchemical ritual insights and magical reflections.

At the book’s center was a small box.

The moment the book opened, the box unfolded upon it, forming a rectangular wooden container the size of a small bag.

“I call it the Wizard’s Book,”

Wizard Sean named it simply,

“but I cannot yet create larger spaces. More importantly, Mr. Scamander, I do not know how to form the required natural spaces.”

Wizard Sean’s face showed appropriate confusion.

If he could not form natural spaces, how could he take a cat Bao from Ilvermorny?

“Form?”

Mr. Scamander repeated softly,

“I merely Jiequ ed a portion.”

“The Segmentation Spell…?”

Wizard Sean reacted quickly, instantly understanding the magic’s mechanism,

“Use the Segmentation Spell to divide space, then the Shrinking Spell to transport it, the Enlargement Spell to arrange it…

Finally, use the Isolation Spell to prevent climatic interference between regions, and if needed, Weather Spells to stabilize each space.”

He murmured to himself, gaining clear insight into the difficulty of this alchemical creation.

He would need to learn at least three new spells, and Weather Spells alone required mastering different variants for each magical creature’s needs.

More importantly, even mastering these spells wouldn’t guarantee success.

The entire process was as perilous as walking a tightrope ten thousand meters above ground—packing multiple disparate spaces into a single space already extended by untraceable expansion, where chaos could erupt at any moment.

Stabilization afterward was paramount.

In this light—Mr. Scamander was practically a superhero!

Now, a world-class master stood before him; aside from Newt, Wizard Sean could not be certain anyone else could teach him this impossibly difficult knowledge with ease.

Naturally, Wizard Sean had to consider whether this was his one and only chance to learn untraceable extended space creation.

“It seems you’ve done some preliminary research.”

At the trunk’s entrance, Newt placed his tree-ghoul on a perch and patted its head.

“It’s very difficult…”

Wizard Sean frowned; learning all this within a single Christmas…

Barely possible.

He had seven days, fifteen hours each day—he would devote every hour to learning untraceable extended space creation.

“Can we begin now, Mr. Scamander?”

Wizard Sean’s enthusiasm was overflowing.

“Yes, but I must warn you—creating a proper space requires long-term study.”

Newt said gently.

“I understand, Professor.”

Wizard Sean nodded and opened his panel:

【Intermediate: Wizard’s Book Prototype: Beginner (270/300)】

This was the first time he’d seen the term “prototype,” confirming his theory was likely correct.

A complete Wizard’s Book with natural spaces would likely be an advanced alchemical artifact.

“I will do my best.”

A firm resolve shone in Wizard Sean’s eyes.

At first, Newt did not grasp what this meant.

Only when the cabinet space had been emptied of most related knowledge did Newt realize only one day had passed.

Since the Magical Creatures class, the young wizard had progressed at a speed utterly incompatible with magic.

Newt watched as the Wizard’s Book’s internal space expanded from the size of a wardrobe to thirty meters in diameter in less than a day—like a thunderbird taking flight.

Moreover, the space was remarkably stable; every layered, engraved rune revealed the young wizard’s overflowing talent.

Hermes walking the earth…

Newt smiled shyly, recalling the Prophet’s description.

Until—

“Mr. Scamander, the Segmentation Spell is too difficult.”

After dominating the alchemical field, dejected Wizard Sean still hadn’t mastered the Segmentation Spell in the final half-hour.

Newt’s smile slowly faded.
