Chapter 676: Choice
Luo En's words made Sean slightly stunned.
Immediately, he smiled and nodded.
"This doesn't have much to do with me; it's because of your hard work."
Sean said earnestly.
"I guessed it would be like this..."
Luo En muttered, his voice so low that no one could hear.
"You will never know how much you have done and how important it is."
The young wizards in the corridor dispersed in twos and threes.
Including Luo En.
At this moment, he was walking by a second-floor window, with ice crystals still forming on the glass.
On the floor above where he was walking, Sean passed by a stained-glass window at the same position but a different height.
Luo En's words had given him some inspiration.
The teaching system of the Wizarding World was always vague, and this had continued from the time he first came into contact with magic until now.
Perhaps magic was such a mysterious and profound thing, but there still existed laws that could be mastered.
Headmaster Dumbledore said:
"Compared to death, what people fear more is the unknown."
This point held true for magic as well.
For magic that could only rely on "innate intuition," wizards were like someone plunging into a vast, boundless forest.
Not only could they not see the path ahead, but they also didn't know where they were.
Sean's notes were like clear, explicit signposts carved by predecessors, and the standards he set through the panel allowed wizards to know which stage they were at.
He had never thought about what knowing one's exact level meant to young wizards...
Now, Luo En's words had caused him to reflect a great deal.
It seemed he could still do something for the continuation of magical knowledge.
This point alone was enough to make him happy.
Thinking along the way, Sean didn't even notice Professor Marcus Marcus Maige striding along not far behind him.
Hogwarts was once again filled with rain and snow today; goose-feather-like snow fell on the grey outlines of the distant mountains, and cold winds stained with ice crystals blew against the windows.
Sean always had to toast his scarf with his wand to keep it from getting completely wet.
"Are you not satisfied with your head?"
Helena by the window said.
"... I am very satisfied."
Sean answered truthfully.
Helena: "..."
"What story are you going to tell? If you know more about the ninth-century stories than I do, perhaps I am willing to listen a bit more."
Helena asked with a hint of helplessness.
"That is... the world behind the Veil of Death..."
Sean said slowly.
These words made Helena very uncomfortable; she was afraid of going there, and she could never go there.
It was like describing food to an extremely hungry person; if it weren't for the wizard named Green in front of her, she would have snorted and left long ago.
"Sorry... however, I went there and met an unexpected person."
Sean continued.
"Green, you have never lied—"
Helena thought this was a very funny joke.
And Sean silently let the empty talisman float up; any wizard could feel the dreamlike, wispy mist surrounding it.
"The legendary Soul Relic?!"
Helena admitted that she had still underestimated the young wizard.
Even though she had already placed the other party at a level slightly lower than "her."
"Very well, then what next?"
She became somewhat interested.
"I met Lady Ravenclaw."
Sean said.
Helena was struck by lightning and remained silent for a long time:
"Green, if a wizard could meet the dead through a Soul Relic, then this world would have been in chaos long ago.
But... I believe you.
Tell me, what sweet words do you intend to make up?
Forgive me for speaking bluntly, I have nothing left that can be swindled away."
She tried her best to appear indifferent, but her heart had already been stirred into a tempest.
"She said, it doesn't matter."
Sean didn't say any sweet words, but the short three words left Helena stunned in place.
Something like pearls fell onto the place where she was standing.
Sean lowered his head, looking at nothing.
"In the world of ghosts, if no one cares, they will gradually lose their wisdom and emotions.
I want to say... perhaps someone is waiting for you."
After a while, waiting for Helena to calm down slightly, Sean continued.
"Thank you for the beautiful dream you wove for me, Mr. Lucky Black Cat, but forgive me, I cannot continue listening."
Helena had never been so at a loss as she was now; she subconsciously wanted to drift away.
If she believed the young wizard's words, then this matter would be cruel enough to make ghosts tremble.
"Lady Iso taught me some methods to let ghosts rest in peace."
Sean continued.
"Stop joking, Green."
Helena couldn't help but shout loudly.
Fortunately, Sean had expected this and cast a Muffliato, so it didn't attract the attention of the surrounding wizards.
As for Sean talking to a ghost? It didn't matter; Mr. Green talking to a Basilisk didn't surprise them either.
……
Helena drifted away.
Before leaving, she saw the "Book of Ghosts" and the Rest-in-Peace Ritual in Sean's hands.
She watched with her own eyes as the young wizard quickly unfolded the ritual, which emitted a special magical power.
She drifted blankly in the corridor.
The wind blew, like a transparent river; raindrops fell, like cold meteors; it seemed as if she were the only one left in the castle, simple and cramped.
Her heart, which no longer beat, brewed a huge sorrow for her, yet she could no longer shed a single tear.
"Rowena..."
She curled up in a corner, just like a long, long time ago; when she was fragile, she would call her name.
Sean followed silently; he didn't let himself see or hear anything.
Just following, silently following.
Until Helena was tired.
She saw the young wizard with a worried face; she realized she had drifted outside the castle.
—They were walking out into the thickening twilight...
The air was filled with the warm scent of grass, the smell of the lake, and the smoke of burning wood drifting from Hagrid's hut.
She had never realized she had come alive as she did now.
"How long have you been following, Green."
She asked.
"Ten hours and seventeen minutes, so..."
Sean answered.
"I don't know."
She said.
"Hmm."
Sean replied.
As if nothing had happened, they began to gaze at the sunset in the distance, red as fire.
"I'm going to class."
Sean suddenly popped out a sentence.
Helena couldn't control the corners of her mouth from lifting.
……
When returning to the castle, Sean still didn't know how much he could help.
It wasn't he who had to face the difficult choice.
But soon he wouldn't be able to think about this profound question anymore.
Because he met Professor Marcus Marcus Maige, whose eyes were slightly unfocused; she was standing next to the armor in the corridor.
"Child, do you have anything to say to me?"
She asked.
"Yes, Professor. I experienced some wonderful things in the world behind the Veil... I met Lady Ravenclaw."
Sean did not hide it. ===== CHAPTER 677 =====
