Chapter 691: A Type of Person

~6 min read 1,118 words

In the vast white Boundary, dark animals flashed by like fluffy balls.

While Jia Siting's soul ran in the world behind the veil, his body still slept quietly.

Dumbledore leaned against the doorway, his beard slightly curled.

"Yes, dreams are such a magical thing, capable of reaching any realm. Except, the dream of another wizard."

Dumbledore carried a warm magical lantern, and after checking once more that the student was fine, he carried the lantern onto the corridor blown by the night wind,

"But there are always accidents in things... It seems I am having a sweet dream tonight?"

From afar, one could see Dumbledore's tall figure casting a blurry shadow on the wall, and then, it was obscured by another shadow.

"Dumbledore?"

Professor Sineipu, on night patrol, looked at Dumbledore with a cold face; for the first time, the old wizard seemed a bit unnatural.

"Ah, Severus, good evening."

Dumbledore put on his habitual smile.

Sineipu snorted coldly, did not answer, and turned to walk directly toward the school hospital.

Besides the school hospital, where else on the second floor would attract Dumbledore?

Perhaps their "Savior Potter" had broken his leg again?

Heh...

Sineipu's robes billowed, the black fabric like waves under the moonlight.

Dumbledore stopped where he was, looked at the knight portrait on the wall, then looked at the bright moon outside the window; he did not speak again, the wrinkles on his face slowly and naturally smoothing out.

A few dozen seconds passed, or perhaps a few minutes.

Dumbledore still had his fingers crossed, as if waiting for something; sure enough, before long, a suppressed roar rang out:

"Dumbledore!"

It was Sineipu; he strode toward Dumbledore, his expression visibly becoming angry,

"What have you done?!"

"Ah, Severus, calm down."

Dumbledore said softly.

"He should be in detention in the dungeon... not following you, and not in the school hospital..."

Sineipu leaned coldly toward Dumbledore, his voice sounding as if it were squeezed from his throat.

"Severus, it was just an accident."

Dumbledore explained.

"An accident? Heh... an accident that always happens?

Since when has the greatest white wizard of this century started utilizing even a fool?"

Sineipu stared fixedly at Dumbledore.

"You don't have to think of me that way, Severus. You know I am unworthy of those titles."

Dumbledore said slowly.

"Let him go..."

After a long silence, Sineipu spat out a few words.

"Severus."

Dumbledore's expression became somewhat pained for the first time,

"I thought you would understand."

The night corridor was silent, and the conversation between the two did not even disturb the owls perched by the stained-glass windows.

"He is foolish enough, and I am not.

You think everything is taken for granted, Dumbledore, and it just so happens that the most foolish thing is that someone thinks the same as you."

Sineipu looked coldly at Dumbledore, recalling the arm stained by the curse on the hospital bed; he knew who it came from.

He felt an unprecedented panic, a voice whispering in his ear; if that person were like a knight, he would surely say:

"Ah, Severus, how can I say it so you understand.

This is what must be faced, what is inevitably to be faced...

Because falling in love with someone, yes, it is like creating a faith, serving a god who could fall at any moment..."

The two fell into silence until Dumbledore shook his head:

"Over these years, how many men and women have we witnessed die?

Hogwarts is lucky enough, but things will not always go smoothly."

Dumbledore seemed to recall something, his gaze becoming profound.

"Not him!"

Sineipu was extremely angry.

"A very interesting topic, Severus; when a snow mountain collapses, it doesn't care if you are a rabbit or a snow fox."

Dumbledore's fingers tapped on his own forearm.

Another long silence.

Dumbledore watched Sineipu, and finally sighed:

"I think on one point our goals are consistent, Severus.

We must always leave some hope for the future... I hope once again you understand. There is no other way in this world to make the one in danger be him instead of me.

I am not the greatest wizard of this century. If I could, I would be willing to share this title with those wizards who can't wait.

But Severus, you know who I most want to see inherit it.

If you think this conversation has gotten you what you wanted, then let us part here... I should rest; when one gets old, one always misses sweet dreams extra much."

Sineipu stood in the shadows of the corridor; he knew much from Dumbledore's hints, but he still couldn't help but question:

"Since that is the case, why let him be with you?"

"Mm..."

Dumbledore's complexion looked somewhat unnatural,

"I was forced, Severus."

"You mean, he insisted on being with you, to face our difficult struggles, and put himself in the most dangerous situation..."

Sineipu said with a cold laugh, but as he spoke, his voice grew lower and lower; finally, he realized he seemed to have gotten the truth.

"That is how it is, Severus."

Dumbledore, seeing his unnatural expression, did not forget to add a sentence.

"Jia Siting Green..."

This voice sounded as if it were popping out from between Sineipu's teeth.

Dumbledore happily put a Lemon Sherbet into his mouth, then watched Sineipu head toward the school hospital.

Facing Severus, he was always willing to say a little more.

Severus Sineipu, this name had fought side-by-side with Albus Dumbledore for many years; in places Sineipu did not know, his heart had long been shaken, and he was moving firmly toward the direction Dumbledore most wanted to see.

They had become the same type of person.

When this change happened, even they themselves probably couldn't explain.

But Dumbledore had always believed that when the whole world changed to the point where it needed them, Severus Sineipu would become the last young wizard he placed high hopes on.

"I believe in Severus."

In the long time to come, this would become the evidence for Dumbledore's unwavering will.

The night was so clear, especially after having a little more expectation.

Dumbledore happily headed toward the Headmaster's office, but upon seeing a face that had returned from the school hospital, he suddenly felt somewhat unnatural.

"Marcus Maige, ah, you haven't rested yet?"

Dumbledore put down the Lemon Sherbet in his hand.

"Someone from Ravenclaw stayed out all night, and soon this name appeared on the leave list; I hope you won't tell me this is your doing, Headmaster Dumbledore."

Her voice sounded very dangerous.

Dumbledore found it hard to be happy anymore.
