Chapter 737: A Small Program
After Professor Sineipu took over as the temporary instructor for Defense Against the Dark Arts, the days for the young wizards were no longer so leisurely.
They had to prepare for their final exams while simultaneously handling the complex coursework left behind by Professor Sineipu.
Fortunately, Easter was approaching, and the young wizards could finally catch their breath.
The Great Hall had been decorated with various ribbons as usual. The giant pumpkins grown by Haige had been carved into lanterns, large enough to seat three people inside.
Xiang Xien was nowhere to be seen all day; even Xiang Hemin and Jia Siting could not find him.
He was naturally busy.
The Magic Hand Mirror was about to hit the market this Easter, and he had to provide some "high-end products" for the Fairy Tale Workshop.
For example, a set of multi-faceted Magic Hand Mirrors that allowed multiple wizards to speak simultaneously;
For example, Magic Hand Mirrors that could store voice messages from wizards;
And for example...
"This is necessary, my dear disciple. Alchemists disdain participating in conflicts, but when conflict arrives, they should also have the ability to control their own creations."
Professor Taila's eyes flashed with a sharp luster.
"I... understand, Professor."
Xiang Xien stared at the modified Magic Hand Mirror.
Its materials and production techniques had not been changed in the slightest—this was an alchemy ritual pioneered by Xiang Xien; even if Professor Taila wanted to fully understand it, it would require a great deal of time, not to mention the wizards working in the workshop.
So, what exactly had been modified?
Naturally, it was a small, harmless self-destruct program.
The accurate transmission of information was important, a point both Professor Taila and Xiang Xien could grasp.
Therefore, when necessary, Xiang Xien could use this small magical circuit to cut off the future communication system.
He did not yet know what this magical circuit would bring, but Professor Taila's words left him thoughtful.
As it turns out, telephones—even magical telephones—cannot escape the fate of having information stolen or the information network destroyed, can they?
"The world has never been fair, my dear disciple.
But magic is fair; wizards pay with their talent, sweat, and soul, and they can obtain everything they desire.
This is especially prominent in alchemy."
Professor Taila was very gratified that Xiang Xien did not insist on some meaningless things.
"Professor, is there magic inside to steal information?"
Xiang Xien asked cautiously.
"Oh? That's a good idea; I will notify the workshop to add it right away."
Professor Taila was quite interested.
"I think it's better not to, Professor."
Xiang Xien shook his head in refusal.
Perhaps it was because the sight of him shaking his head vigorously was rare, or perhaps it was because her own teasing had received a perfect response, but Olivia was in a pleasant mood.
Her disciple was a blank sheet of paper.
So much so that when it was time to apply ink, it required her to complete it.
After receiving Professor Taila's affirmation, Xiang Xien's time was evenly distributed between study and alchemy.
Of course, there was also a small investigation, an investigation regarding Ma Erfu, which Xiang Xien and Headmaster Buliduo had been working on all along.
In the blink of an eye, it was the last day before Easter.
A special event occurred that morning; Jia Siting did not know where he had bought a Pensieve, and the silvery-white threads inside made Ha Li very curious.
Jia Siting was always generous; he shared the Pensieve with Ha Li, which resulted in an event no one could have expected.
"It's Ma Erfu!"
Ha Li suddenly roared, startling everyone.
"What Ma Erfu?"
Luo En asked while covering his ears.
"Lu Xiusi Ma Erfu, he put the notebook into Jin Ni's pocket; he wanted to kill Jin Ni!"
Ha Li looked at Luo En, clenching his fists.
"What? I knew he had problems; think about it, who would harm Jin Ni? That notebook couldn't have just appeared out of thin air, right?!"
Luo En was so angry his eyes turned red; he shouted and yelled,
"He is a Death Eater, his whole family is; my father knew he had problems and had been trying to catch him, and now he's come for revenge—the damn bastard, he actually dared to set his sights on Jin Ni.
My father will kill him, I promise!"
In their extreme anger, Ha Li and Luo En did not forget to look at Xiang Xien's seat; he was not there, which caused the atmosphere to freeze for a moment.
"What are you saying? Ha Li, you have to be responsible for your words, do you understand?"
Xiang Hemin asked urgently.
"Just look, Xiang Hemin!"
Ha Li was too angry to speak.
Jia Siting, Xiang Hemin, Na Wei, and Luo En approached the Pensieve; they had finally managed to use it.
When they pulled themselves away from the silvery memory threads, they were speechless for a long time.
"He needs to be punished."
Jia Siting said.
"Go find Xiang Xien."
Xiang Hemin said.
Luo En and Ha Li also calmed down; they always had an astonishing tacit understanding when it came to finding Xiang Xien.
But unfortunately, because Xiang Xien's whereabouts had been uncertain recently, and none of them were from Wenkelao Society, they couldn't find any trace of the young wizard for a moment.
Just as Jia Siting decided to use the Magic Hand Mirror to find Xiang Xien, the second to last match of the season, which was the fifth Quidditch match, was about to begin.
It was Gryffindor versus Slytherin.
It was unclear what the Slytherins had protested to the school about, but the school actually agreed to a rematch because there had been a clear problem with the Bludger in the previous match.
"It must be Ma Erfu, his father is a school governor!"
Luo En said angrily.
Ha Li nodded in agreement.
Their appearance caused Xiang Hemin and Jia Siting to feel even more worried.
This year, apart from the first loss, the Slytherin team, relying on the Nimbus 2001 sponsored by Ma Erfu, was leading the league by a full two hundred points, which meant Ha Li and the others needed to win by more than two hundred points to take the cup.
This also meant that the pressure to win fell mostly on Ha Li, because catching the Golden Snitch would earn one hundred and fifty points.
"So, you can only catch it when we are leading by more than fifty points,"
Before the match, Marcus Maige kept saying to Ha Li,
"Only when we are leading by more than fifty points, Ha Li, otherwise we will win the match but lose the cup. Do you understand? You must catch the Snitch, but only when we—"
"I know, Oliver!"
Ha Li shouted.
His attitude surprised everyone, but it made Marcus Maige even more pleased:
"That's it, Ha Li, like a fighter!"
The entire Gryffindor House had their hearts set on this upcoming match.
Since the era of the legendary figure Charlie Wei Silai (Luo En's second brother) serving as Seeker, Gryffindor had not yet won the Quidditch Cup.
However, Ha Li suspected that no one (including Marcus Maige) wanted to win as much as he did right now.
The hostility between him and Ma Er reached its peak.
Ha Li had not forgotten the Basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets, the young wizards walking on the edge of danger, and Jin Ni who had almost lost her life.
He had a score to settle, and he had to settle it properly with Ma Erfu.
In everyone's memory, no match had ever arrived in such an atmosphere filled with gunpowder. ===== CHAPTER 738 =====
