Chapter 841

~6 min read 1,003 words

After Luo En chased out, Harry also hurriedly followed him out of the shop.

Neville, because he was standing at the very back, closest to the door, inevitably became the first wizard pushed out the door by Luo En.

Their three figures soon disappeared into the crowd of Diagon Alley.

"I'm so sorry..."

The witch wearing thick black glasses bowed hurriedly, while picking up the ginger cat,

"But it's also very strange, although no one has adopted it, letting it stay here for a long time... but it has never made such an extreme move before."

The witch muttered.

She looked at the three young wizards who had disappeared into Diagon Alley, as if thinking of something, and then whispered a few words to herself.

Xiang Xien and the others could vaguely hear words like "rat" and "lived too long."

"This cat, what is its name?"

Hermione asked suddenly.

"Oh, dear, it has no name, names are given by owners, and it has never had an owner."

The witch said.

"Can I buy it?"

Hermione said happily.

"That would be wonderful! Dear."

The witch's face beamed.

"Cats are nice."

Jia Siting said with a smile on the side, stealing a glance at Xiang Xien.

"Of course, cats are great."

Hermione paid quickly.

When Harry and the others returned, they saw Hermione clutching the large ginger cat tightly in her arms.

"You bought this monster?"

Luo En asked, his mouth wide open.

"Isn't it beautiful?"

Hermione said.

Harry thought, everyone has their own opinion.

This cat's ginger fur was fluffy and soft, but its feet were noticeably pigeon-toed, and its expression was gloomy, with a strange, flat face, as if it had once crashed headfirst into a brick wall.

Now that Scabbers was nowhere to be seen, the cat purred contentedly in Hermione's arms.

"Hermione, this thing almost scalped me!"

Luo En said.

"It didn't mean to, did you, Crookshanks?"

Hermione said.

"You named it? Merlin, so fast?

But... what about Scabbers?"

Luo En pointed to the small bulge in his chest pocket,

"It needs rest, it needs to relax! With this thing around, how could it possibly relax?"

"That reminds me, you forgot your Rat Tonic."

Hermione said, stuffing the small red bottle into Luo En's hand,

"Don't worry, Crookshanks will sleep in my dormitory, Scabbers will sleep in your dormitory. What's the problem?

Poor Crookshanks, the witch said it had been there for a long, long time, and no one wanted it."

"That's really strange."

Luo En said to Harry, whispering sarcastically.

After Hermione bought her pet, the group set off for the Leaky Cauldron.

It was nearing noon, and they decided to have a full meal first, then continue buying their new textbooks and supplies.

Harry, Luo En, and Neville were talking and walking in front, while Xiang Xien, Hermione, and Jia Siting lagged behind.

"Luo En said that rat was his brother's?"

Jia Siting asked calmly at this moment.

"Mm."

Hermione responded.

"That's really a bit strange, I heard Luo En say Percy had that rat when he was very young..."

Jia Siting said, puzzled,

"Xiang Xien, do you know how many years a garden rat can live at most?"

Xiang Xien paused, quietly looking at Hermione and Jia Siting.

Before he could speak, Hermione answered first:

"Didn't the shop witch say so? A garden rat's lifespan is at most three years."

Hermione tilted her head, grabbing Crookshanks' paw; Crookshanks had discovered Xiang Xien and was almost sticking to him,

"Maybe that's not a garden rat, just like Crookshanks, it has Kneazle ancestry and can tell a good wizard from a bad one."

After Hermione finished speaking, she still couldn't hold Crookshanks back; the ginger cat jumped onto Xiang Xien's shoulder and lay down, as if wrapping a thick scarf around Xiang Xien.

"You're right."

Jia Siting agreed, but when he looked at Xiang Xien silently, his expression suddenly changed subtly.

Xiang Xien's view was blocked by Crookshanks' raised tail, and he thought slowly that Hermione and the others were close to discovering Peter's secret.

Come to think of it, the Weasleys had slept in the same bed as Peter for twelve years and hadn't discovered Scabbers' special nature?

Together for twelve years, not knowing Scabbers was Peter...

The Leaky Cauldron.

Xiang Xien saw Mr. Wei Silai sitting at the bar reading the "Daily Prophet" at a glance.

"Mr. Green."

He looked up and said with a smile,

"How are you? And you, Harry? Of course, and you guys, mates?"

"Very well, Mr. Wei Silai."

Xiang Xien said.

After exchanging greetings, the group took their purchases and sat down next to Mr. Wei Silai.

Mr. Wei Silai put down the newspaper, and Xiang Xien could see the photo of Sirius Black glaring at him.

"Haven't they caught him yet?"

Harry asked nervously at this moment.

"No,"

Mr. Wei Silai's expression was very grim,

"the Ministry has pulled us all off our regular duties to go all out to catch him, but so far there has been no progress."

"If we catch him, is there a reward?"

Luo En asked,

"It would be nice to have some money—"

"Don't talk nonsense, Luo En."

Mr. Wei Silai said; up close, his expression looked very tense,

"Black couldn't be caught by a thirteen-year-old wizard.

Mark my words, the ones who finally catch him will be those Azkaban guards."

Just then, Mrs. Wei Silai walked into the pub, carrying bags of purchases.

Behind her were the twin brothers Fred and George—who were starting their fifth year at Hogwarts; Percy, who had just been elected Head Boy; and the youngest child of the Wei Silai family, and the only girl—Ginny.

Among them, Percy reached out to everyone with great solemnity, as if they didn't know each other before:

"Harry, nice to see you.

Nice to see you too, Mr. Finnigan, Miss Granger...

Are you all well?"

Percy said, shaking hands with everyone, acting as if they were being introduced to the mayor.

"Oh! Mr. Green—"
