Chapter 10: Arriving at Hogwarts

~8 min read 1,479 words

After comforting John, Professor Lupin says he wants to find the train conductor to talk, and then leaves.

The little fatty in the compartment just now is called Titus Claur, also a new student in the first year. Listening to the sound, the screams before seemed to be made by this little fatty.

After Professor Lupin leaves, he thanks John extremely and gets to know him.

The other two girls are sisters. The older sister is a third-year student, Daphne Greengrass, and the other is her younger sister, Astoria Greengrass, who is a first-year new student like John.

After chatting with several people simply, John returns to the previous compartment with Neville and Luna.

After returning to the compartment, Luna returns John's school robe to him.

"Thank you for your clothes. I didn't expect you to be such a brave and considerate little junior."

After experiencing the things just now, Luna's face still maintains that faint smile, without any panic.

But John feels that there is no distance like before.

Can it be considered a kind of shared adversity?

Neville wipes his sweat, grabbing John's arm with some lingering fear.

"John, when you were attacked by the Dementor just now, did you suffer any injuries? I mean, mentally."

"I think there shouldn't be any. It's just that I always think of the feeling of hitting my toe before, which makes my toe have a kind of phantom pain..."

John moves his foot speechlessly. Although it doesn't hurt at all, this phantom pain just hasn't disappeared.

Is the Dementor's attack method so lacking in style?

Hearing John's words, Neville is also speechless, and Luna lowers her head to cover her smile.

On the rest of the way, no accidents happened again. Not long after the Dementor was driven away, the train started again and arrived at Hogwarts Station around 6:00 PM.

There are quite a few people at the station who look like nurses. Just as the train stopped, they got on the train, passed by the carriages one by one, and did checks for those who were attacked or frightened by the Dementor.

John was also checked, and after finding nothing wrong, he left.

Although he couldn't hear what the adults were saying outside, he could know from their ugly expressions that the Dementor attack was not a small matter.

After the check was over, he could get off the train. Neville and Luna also said goodbye to John.

Because they knew that the way for first-year new students to enter the school was different from theirs, so they said goodbye in advance.

After John got off the train, he heard a rough shout from the head of the train: "First-year new students, come here!"

Shouting several times, the first-year new students gathered in front of that giant man who looked incomparably tall, a little giant with a big lamp and a long beard.

"Hey, John."

Just after leaning over, someone talked to him. Looking back, it was the little fatty Titus on the train.

On the train before, they were slightly familiar, so there was little barrier between students, and they called each other by their names directly.

"Let's take the same boat later." Titus said in a low voice beside John.

"What boat?"

"Don't you know? When new students at Hogwarts enter the school for the first time, in order to pay tribute to the four founders, they have to enter Hogwarts by boat like they did back then."

Titus explains the tradition of Hogwarts to John. He really didn't know these things, and the book didn't say it.

Listening to Titus's introduction, this big man who welcomed them, nearly three meters tall, a little giant with a big lamp and a long beard, is called Rubeus Hagrid, the gamekeeper of the Forbidden Forest.

Sure enough, not long after listening to Titus's explanation, Hagrid took the first-year new students to a lake.

Across the lake, John could see that ancient castle under the moonlight from a long distance away.

This kind of wonder that could only be created in fantasy in his previous life now appeared in front of his eyes like a dream, which made John stop and watch.

Until Titus's call, John came back to his senses.

Under Hagrid's arrangement, all new students sat on a small wooden boat in groups of two or three.

Then, driven by magic, the wooden boat carried this year's new students and sailed toward that castle.

John and Titus rode the same boat, and Titus kept talking beside him.

According to his self-introduction, he comes from a pure-blood wizard family, and his parents have introduced him to many things about the wizarding world since he was a child, so he knows a lot.

For example, what the reputation of the four colleges is like.

Gryffindor is a group of troublemakers who love to break rules, while Ravenclaw is a group of bookworms or crazy scholars.

Hufflepuffs are all rice buckets, rice buckets in the physical sense.

Slytherins are a group of arrogant people who think they are superior.

After listening to Titus's speech, John is a bit speechless. How come in his mouth, none of the four colleges have a good evaluation.

"I hope I can go to Hufflepuff, because I am a rice bucket, a rice bucket in every sense, hehehe."

After introducing, Titus also admitted he was a rice bucket with a silly smile.

"......"

Admitting one's incompetence requires more courage than pretending to be strong. To some extent, perhaps Titus is also suitable for Gryffindor?

As their small boats docked one by one, the first-year new students gathered in the boathouse under the cliff of the castle, and then climbed up the stairs to this magic academy.

They came to the square at the gate of the college. The square is connected to a stone bridge. Older students take carriages to this side to enter the school.

And at the gate of the square, a tall female professor wearing a pointed hat and a dark green robe was already waiting for them.

Titus knew who it was as soon as he saw this person and introduced it to John.

This person is the Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts, the Head of Gryffindor, and the Transfiguration Professor, Professor McGonagall.

Seeing that the new students were all gathered, Professor McGonagall clapped her hands and started to speak.

"Welcome to Hogwarts."

"You can call me Professor McGonagall. You will know me in the future."

Professor McGonagall looked around at everyone, introduced herself simply, and started to enter the theme.

"Later, I will take you to the Great Hall to attend the opening banquet, but before the banquet starts, you need to be assigned to a college."

"Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Slytherin."

"During your time at school, the school is your home."

"Performing well can add points to your college, and violating rules will deduct points."

"At the end of the year, whichever college has the highest score can win the House Cup."

After Professor McGonagall finished speaking, she looked around to see that everyone was listening carefully, nodded, and then turned to lead the way: "Follow me."

Only then did they truly step into this castle. As the gate opened, a huge school crest appeared in front of everyone.

The school crest hung on the wall, with the school motto written below it, meaning: Never tickle a sleeping dragon.

On the left and right sides of the school crest were complex staircases continuing upward, coming to the second floor and another gate.

After entering, you can see four tall hourglasses placed on the left, each with a different image, representing the characteristics of the Lion House, Badger House, Eagle House, and Snake House respectively.

"These are the house point hourglasses. In the future, your performance in your respective colleges, whether adding points or deducting points, will be directly reflected on these hourglasses."

Professor McGonagall didn't introduce too much, but took the new students forward, and after passing through another gate, everyone finally came to the Great Hall.

There were four long tables placed here, filled with students from the four colleges. Countless candles floated on the top of the Great Hall, bringing enough light to this hall.

The most magical thing is the ceiling. The school history book also talked about it. This ceiling is enchanted with magic and can reflect the sky above the castle.

At the end of the hall is the professors' position, with a row of tables and an owl lectern.

Under the gaze of the older students, they followed Professor McGonagall to the very front of the hall, where a high stool was placed, and a pointed hat was placed on it.

What's interesting is that the folds on this hat look exactly like a human face, with a mouth and eyes. ===== CHAPTER 11 =====
